I don’t care how many times it’s been said or how many times you’ve had to hear it and I don’t care about the pathetic male “critics” who think lara’s breast size or their personal level of attraction to alicia vikander affects quite literally anything about this movie’s quality I LOVE BADASS WOMEN CHARACTERS and I feel SO blessed to be seeing them become more and more celebrated as I’m growing older and we can reboot everything and anything for all I care if it means we get more sick films like this that just make you feel COOL and on edge and scared and sad and happy and cheerful and fearful and most of all POWERFUL!! Honestly found this more entertaining than I thought I would. I liked this iteration of Lara Croft as a scrappy young woman searching for answers about her missing father. This leaves behind the sexed up female action heroes of the 90’s/2000’s in favor of a badass. Alicia Vikander did a solid job, but I wanted more of the lore related to the central mystery/conflict. It’s a fast-paced action movie that kept my interest and that’s really all I ask for in this genre.

Adventure filmmaking by the numbers, but at least the numbers are all correct. Shipwreck, island, tomb, greedy men with guns — every beat arrives exactly on schedule, and the film hits each one cleanly and moves on. Nothing surprises, but nothing embarrasses either.

Perfect acceptable. Not particularly good but definitely not bad. The two hours I watched it flew by. I’d probably say “inessential”. I had a PlayStation and a PlayStation 2 from 1997 to 2006 or so and never once played Tomb Raider. I mostly played sports games (with the exception of socially playing Goldeneye on N64 in the late 90s in high school and the college dorms). Every time I try to get back into video games (messing around with my son’s switch or PS 5 now, even sports games) I immediately discover it’s just not for me anymore for whatever reason.

Tomb Raider: A Origem Sinceramente, não sei por que gasto meu tempo em ver certas adaptações de jogos para o cinema; a narrativa normalmente vai por caminhos clichês, com desenvolvimento sem expressão e um final com sensação de que poderia ter assistido algo mais relevante. Tomb Raider: A Origem preenche todos os requisitos de uma adaptação mal feita, não em termos de história, pois A franquia tem conteúdo. Não tem base fazer um filme de Lara Croft e economizar em cenas de ação; os diálogos são expositivos, coadjuvantes descartáveis e por aí vai.

I’ll be honest, I enjoyed this one way more than I should have. Vikander was actually really believable and I thought the visuals were great.

The most difficult hurdle for this film was trying to replace Angelina Jolie as Lara Croft since I always thought she played the character so well. Alicia Vikander did a pretty good job here though and the story wasn’t bad either. Walton Goggins as a supporting character always helps though. This was fun and I’d watch a sequel, but it’s not a high priority movie for me overall.
