Outstanding screenplay by Jimmy McGovern delivered by two sensational performances from Sean Bean and Stephen Graham. Rarely does TV create such a frightening and realistic portrayal of the harsh realities of life inside, and with a fantastic supporting cast, this three-part mini-series is most definitely the best TV I’ve seen all year.

This is one of the most honest and emotional dramas about prison life I’ve ever seen. Sean Bean and Stephen Graham are on fire. Bean especially gives an amazing performance. This had me in bits. You’re going to be hard pressed to see a better drama this year.

Arguably the most essential and the best television series of the year, the three part mini-series written by Jimmy McGovern and directed by Lewis Arnold is a deeply harrowing portrayal of the prison system, showing just how badly it needs reforming and bringing to life the issues that plague not just the prisoners behind jail – but also the guards who run them in the rare show that humanises both at the same time without villainising either. Both Sean Bean and Stephen Graham are almost at their career best – it’s a role unlike any other Bean has played before, removed from the cocksure hero-type personality of Sharpe or Ned Stark – here he plays a vulnerable, broken man. There’s…

Really moving portrait of two blokes in bad situations striving to do the right thing.

Two men grappling with life-changing and incredibly arduous circumstances within the prison system while striving to do what’s right. Although it’s a concise miniseries, it doesn’t rely on grandiose monologues or soliloquies. There are moments of slight over-dramatization, yet Sean Bean’s and Stephen Graham’s performances are remarkably restrained and compelling. Watching the show can be frustrating; there were times I felt compelled to yell at the screen, which might be intentional. It sheds light on the flaws within the prison system, serving as a critique and questioning the true purpose of incarceration. Time is worth watching solely for the outstanding performances. Overall, it’s a truly remarkable series, simultaneously condemning and offering a glimmer of hope. My Review on Serializd Side…

This is an excellent miniseries. It felt like quite a realistic take on a fairly simple guy who wound up in jail because of addiction.. his experiences in there and the development of other inmates is both scary and heartbreaking .. with an emotionally impactful ending 😢

Quite simply the best thing I’ve seen on TV all year. Line of Duty is absolutely gripping of course, but it has all the bells and whistles to be so, relying on almost a decade of story and viewer commitment to call on. In contrast, Time relies on nothing more than quality writing from Jimmy McGovern and superb performances from a cast headed up by Sean Bean and Stephen Graham. As a result, it’s old school television at its best and I was quietly and utterly blown away.

Season 1 Well this was pretty good but I also feel like it was left a little bit unfinished. Three episodes felt a bit short, I felt like it could’ve done with one or two more.

This is genuinely one of the best short series I’ve watched I actually got emotional at the end. I’m so glad I got recommended this from the prison inspector that came into my sociology a level class to talk to us. I see why she recommended it it’s so amazing and gritty I so glad I watched this at like 2am to 6am like a manic but it was so amazing

Both Sean Bean and Stephen Graham are superb in this, the impact and emotion on display really grips you to the storytelling which is complemented really well by the acting performances from all the cast. 4.5/5

A criminally underrated hidden gem of a miniseries that delivers a raw, suffocating, and deeply human look inside the modern prison system.

As someone who’s never served hard time, I can confirm this is one of the most accurate depictions of prison life that I’ve seen. And having visited London once in college, I found it to be a brilliant critique of the fundamental flaws in the UK’s legal and penal systems.

I wouldn’t typically review shows but this one is seriously different. I just rewatched this after FINALLY getting hold of the first season on DVD months after buying the second (like, what store sells the second season but not the first??) and genuinely remembered why I loved it as much as I did when it first came out. This show means a lot to me in ways that I really struggle to explain. But let me try: Perhaps I’m biased…

One of my favourite series ever. Its a shame its only 3 episodes long because Sean Bean and Stephen Graham just steal the show completely. You feel for Marc yet lecture him for his mistakes but you see the regret and the want for redemption. It’s a shame Stephen’s character got an unlucky ending but Marc’s happy ending keeps the watcher hopeful for his future

Very engaging but sad. Good writing and stephen graham delivers as per, also boromir is great in it

People are so used to hearing about crime and murder they forget how drastic and extreme and horrific and sad it is, l might have forgotten how tragic crime is and this just reminded me murder isn’t just one word we hear on the news every other day it’s a life stolen and it’s grief and it’s something that shouldn’t be belittled to being just some word, murder is sad it’s sad you just have to think deeper you have…

Great show and typically both Sean Bean and Stephen Graham are fantastic but James Nelson Joyce deserves his flowers for his performance in this. (Need to add Sean Bean and Stephen Graham to the cast list)

Stephen Graham is undoubtedly a legend. But oh my – the performance of Sean Bean here is outstanding; his best role so far. I’ve always considered him a good secondary actor. In this series, Bean is vulnerable and delivering his finest work. Time is an excellent series!

Did not need making. Presents modern UK prisons as incredibly gentle compared to every other portrayal put to film, and throughout both seasons it shows them to be staffed by officers that Really Care which stretches credibility past the breaking point. Season 2 focusing on women’s prison manages to get it wrong in a new way: playing make believe that women’s prisons are as dangerous for prisoners who have harmed children as men’s prisons are despite statistical evidence that interpersonal…

I think I liked the second season more than the first, even though the first is probably more authentic. Either way, the acting is phenomenal in both seasons. Everything else is good too. Heavy stuff.

Time is an engaging web series that plays with the concept of time and its impact on human choices. The storyline keeps you curious, blending drama and suspense smoothly. Performances feel natural and help connect emotionally with the plot. Overall, it’s a decent watch for viewers who enjoy thoughtful, time-based narratives.

Prison seems to be hell for inmate and screws alike, and ever reliable Bean and Graham are companions in their misery. At least Sean gets to be released.
