The two paintball episodes of community which joe russo directed are more stylised and better directed than the $200 million dollar action film he directed with his brother 11 years later

Good news for people who’ve always wanted to see the fake movies that Chris Evans’ “Scott Pilgrim vs. the World” character — blowhard action star Lucas Lee — made before exploding into a pile of coins at the bottom of a Toronto staircase: Netflix just spent at least $200 million to shoot one for real. Despite being adapted from Mark Greaney’s 2009 spy novel of the same name, “The Gray Man” feels like it was even more directly extrapolated from the poster for Lee’s blockbuster smash “You Just Don’t Exist,” which features a photo of Evans grimacing into a telephone above a tagline that reads: “Cole Hazard just got a call saying he has 89 minutes to live… from himself.”…

I don’t normally like super action packed movies but I loved this. I loved how Courtland/Six’s story is shown through flashbacks that give brief context. I also like Claire as a character. I thought the attitude she had in the flash backs was quite funny but I thought they also portrayed her as just a child who WOULD be scared of what’s happening.

Lioyd looks like hello neighbour. Last thing I expected was the two main villains being in a bromance. Cried when the old man died.

Not even sure what to say. It started out better and then kinda just….sizzled out. The cast is great, but feels soooo unutilised? Largely because the plot, while with a great premise, does not hold focus very well and is almost infuriatingly frustrating. Bunch of spies living in glass towers and mercenaries that have never considered bulletproof glass?? This movie went all out on the action but forgot to consider the SCRIPT to back it up, I was always waiting…

Tan solo con escuchar la mención de cierto lugar en cierto estado ilegítimo, le quitaron 5 estrellas a la película, terminé de verla por puro amor a Ryan Gosling y solo por él se ganaron una estrella✌️

A proof that Ryan Gosling and Ana de Armas can save a really mediocre movie They really thought they were doing something with those camera moves huh

Honestly just really bad from all angles. Lackluster acting, banal writing, incomprehensible fight scenes. It’s all bad. Insane cast they wasted on this one.

if i had a nickle for every movie i watched today that included a scene with someone pulling someone else’s fingernails out with pliers, someone using defibrillators as a weapon, and using epi-pens to get adrenaline, i’d have two nickles. which isn’t a lot but its weird it happened twice

ryan gosling and chris evan’s couldn’t even save this movie… it was a pretty generic action movie that was wayyyyy too long. i had higher hopes for this tbh

Chris Evans and Ryan Gosling were spectacular in this movie. I’m enjoying Chris Evans’ turn to the dark side after leaving Marvel. It’s a little too long, the middle drags a bit. But there is a strong start and a solid ending. A bit too realistic though, those in power never feel the consequences enough.

so for a bit i was kinda bored. it definitely felt slow at first. but i ended up really enjoying it. i was not expecting chris evans at all and i just referred to him as “evil chris evans” in my head the entire time time. i love an ambiguous happy ending. this movie definitely solidified ryan gosling as the best actor ever in my opinion. like he truly becomes his roles so well that i somehow forget it’s him unlike my inability to not just see chris evans.

Kind of in the same vein of something like Triple 9. It has great actors and good looking cinematography but doesn’t use the talent from the actors to their fullest extent and doesn’t have the narrative to push what at least conceptually is an emotionally invested foundation. Ryan Gosling, Chis Evans, and Ana de Armas really do their best though.

How’s a movie with so much action so boring. I honestly enjoy the Netflix extraction movies so my standards aren’t exactly high brow and love Gosling but this movie has genuinely zero sauce, have never seen such an unsexy spy thriller despite starring Gosling and Ana de Armas. Makes Ambulance from Michael bay look like Heat in comparison, the drone shots in that were stupjd but they weren’t fuck ugly like this. Shoulda been directed and written by someone with vision and had 1/3rd the budget cause I would still like to see Ryan gosling play a badass spy

This movie is so funny because you can tell the Russo brothers came right from an Avengers set when they concocted this. Like the way they try to drum up stakes and action would have you think they’re fighting Thanos or something when really it’s just Chris Evans in a bad mustache.

they executed the movie idea perfectly, it was just a bad idea

Ryan Gosling was the main character and was still somehow underutilized?? I thought a Chris Evans/Ana de Armas reunion would be more exciting, but it fell very short. That mustache is unforgivable.

Idk I fell asleep half way through I didn’t like the pacing or how evil Steve Rogers was damn he misses the shield so bad he wants to kill six because he’s scared of seven or something

A really good and worthwhile movie. You won’t get bored if you watch it. For me the best part was seeing Chris Evans as the villain. He is so unhinged and I love it. Then the best part was Ryan and Dhanush’s cameo. The music was good could’ve been better. The action was really really good. The screenplay is well set . The emotion is the only thing that’s missing. I would’ve loved some twists. Waiting for part 2 but…

Plot (Story Arc and Plausibility) – 5/10 The Gray Man has a perfectly serviceable spy-thriller setup: a skilled assassin discovers compromising information and becomes the target of a global manhunt. The issue is that the story rarely develops beyond familiar genre mechanics, borrowing heavily from Bond, John Wick, Mission: Impossible, Fast & Furious, and even the Russos’ own Winter Soldier playbook. It moves quickly and offers plenty of incidents, but very little feels fresh, surprising, or emotionally consequential. For such an…
