I just want to note how this film’s big, transformative kiss is between the main character and a turnip, and it has nothing to do with the central romance. That delighted me.

FUN MOVIE DETAIL! Near the end in a sequence where Sophie meets Howl in the past as a child, she says to him, “Find me in the future!” At the beginning of the film, when Howl first meets Sophie, he says, “I was looking everywhere for you.” P.S. If you watched this and didn’t have a crush on Howl after the movie was over, did you really watch it?

“A hearts a heavy burden” A heart is weighed down by a lot of things. Its responsibility is not only limited to keeping every cell of the body alive but it also carries out feelings. Each valve contains hope, each vessel is filled with grief and the blood that flows within every vain of our body is what makes us human. But most of all, the heart carries love. Love that can be felt in things which are not visible. Love…

Nothing truly quite as magical as a Ghibli film. The way Miyazaki is able to sweep the viewer into a world that so closely resembles a dream is incredible. That Scarecrow turning into “the lost prince from the nearby kingdom” in the last 5 minutes was so out of left field, had me cackling. Loved the witch of the waste and her lead paint stare too. Calcifer is my goat

I swear to god I haven’t been ruined my Cocomelon my friend who saw the dubbed version was like “boy howdy half the information in the movie isn’t there anymore” which is good because I basically had no idea what any two scenes were doing consecutively. Bummer. (No I’m not talking about the part at the end that part actually made sense I swear I’m good at movies) (Yes I know movies are…

When I watched this the first time, I had no idea what I was getting into, after watching it on recommendation of an acquaintance, and I just accepted it as being weird, but visually incredible. Now, this second time watching it, with a love for Studio Ghibli that’s exploded over the years, I admire the weirdness, consume all the fine artistic details, but still kept asking, multiple times throughout the movie, why, what, how? No one gets away with illogical plot lines/story beats like you, Mr Miyazaki. And somehow I still love the movie anyway.

Wow, was ein wunderschöner Film.
