    Nothing truly quite as magical as a Ghibli film. The way Miyazaki is able to sweep the viewer into a world that so closely resembles a dream is incredible. That Scarecrow turning into “the lost prince from the nearby kingdom” in the last 5 minutes was so out of left field, had me cackling. Loved the witch of the waste and her lead paint stare too.     When I watched this the first time, I had no idea what I was getting into, after watching it on recommendation of an acquaintance, and I just accepted it as being weird, but visually incredible. Now, this second time watching it, with a love for Studio Ghibli that’s exploded over the years, I admire the weirdness, consume all the fine artistic details, but still kept asking, multiple times throughout the movie, why, what, how? No one gets away with illogical plot lines/story beats like you, Mr Miyazaki. And somehow I still love the movie anyway.

    Wow, was ein wunderschöner Film. Wie es aussieht, habe ich viel zu lange die Ghibli-Filme beiseite geschoben. Richtig starke Animationen, Zeichnungen und vor allem die verschiedenen Technologien, Magie und Wesen sind richtig fantasievoll. Tolle Charaktere, die wirklich unterschiedlich sind, sowohl vom Charakter als auch ihres Aussehens und eine Story, die wirklich liebevoll gemacht ist. Einige Punkte der Story könnten vielleicht besser ausgearbeitet werden, aber für meinen ersten Film von Studio Ghibli trotzdem ein ordentliches Brett, das mir auf jeden Fall Lust auf mehr gemacht.
