I really enjoyed cinematography and pace in this film, but the way how violent and brutal some scenes was, when it wasn’t even that necessary, was too much for me and only turned me off

PAGE 38 DRIVER leaves his apartment to the noise of Desire’s “Under Your Spell”, which has been nonsensically playing at Standard and Irene’s party next door to the zombied joy of their guests. DRIVER looks to their door, to see if perhaps the staff at Pitchfork had robbed the place and left their iTunes playlist behind. IRENE: Hey We pause for 4 seconds, as IRENE must calibrate her emptiest gaze in an attempt to convey longing, and match DRIVER’s own highway speed emptiness disguised as longing. DRIVER: Hi We pause for 5 more seconds, IRENE has clearly sensed a staring contest has begun. DRIVER puts on his best Creepface to gain an advantage. IRENE: Sorry about the noise 5 more…

Do you guys ever wonder how we, as a society, got to and from places before Ryan Gosling invented driving 6 years ago?

Blu-ray To be perfectly honest, while this movie might be objectively better, I find myself thinking about Only God Forgives more. Still, Drive is a weirdly meditative experience that I find myself coming back to every now and then.

Imagine practicing your lines and half of them are only one word long. Drive was good, but it could’ve been better. I feel like some characters (Irene for example) didn’t really have any personality. This affected the entire movie and the relationships between the characters.

A lot of things were good about this movie. The lighting and acting was my favorite part. Ryan Gosling’s character had a quiet, yet warm exterior and watching it crumble away as the anger bubbled up was genuinely scary. Ryan Gosling was genuinely scary in this movie. However, the whole movie came across as really cheap. Yes I know it’s an indie movie. But did they HAVE to pick that font and color for the title and credits? The music…

i watched this for the first time recently. i didnt know that song was made for this movie specifically so it was kinda accidental nostalgia. thank you ryan gosling for (another) perfect performance as an unchecked autist content with his routine life until introduced to the chaos and pain of romance. elevator scene made me sweat. everyone was also really good in this idk. bryan cranston, carey mulligan, oscar isaac, christina hendricks albert brooks, they all cooked. one last mention to the hotel shootout scene, it was nicely done.

What a great movie. Visually stunning. I love how the soundtrack is almost a character itself. I love how Driver is like the sweetest and kindest and all that, but also absolutely terrifying. He’s like a shark (great callback to the cartoon where the shark is always the villain. Is Driver the villain of this story?). I love how unexpectedly gory it is, while every shot is so cleanly thought out. Amazing movie.

Second car-themed film of the night. Some lovely shots, really like Ryan Gosling’s performance and the contrasting silent v full music moments but just lacked a bit of pace and interest. Liked it as part of a double feature though, getting the motivation up for my driving test – sixth time lucky.

Actually insane. The score is so emotional and Ryan Gosling’s performance is crazy. He brings such a gentle energy to this film which I think is what makes it so great. Also the way his eyes sparkle makes me feel things

Just a story about a guy who drives… Actually, I think there’s more blood than in a Tarantino movie.

Filme foda.

Cine.

Idk what kind of trance i was under when i watched this the first time and rated it 4/5 but this was much worse than I remember. It has the potential to be so much grittier and cooler but the script and the directing significantly let it down. Ryan Gosling is a good actor, however the “cold” and “intimidating” character did not translate well, instead making it seem like a lazy acting job and the character seemed more under developed…

I was excited and skeptical coming into this, I saw it getting compared to John wick which I honestly didn’t like that much cause the story was pretty ass and was just violence, violence, violence. But this movie had a great blend, it had engaging story and characters with lots of gore and the opening sequence was amazing. The romance wasn’t great but it did what it needed to do.

Just so you know. This movie is NOT about Adam Driver. He’s not even in there. Don’t believe the title or first row of credits. He’s not here.

Great cinematography and music. I can see why people love Ryan Gosling in this movie his performance is great. The violence in this movie is almost surreal and the vibes from the driving scenes are unmatched and remind me of taxi driver.
