Unless you’ve been living under a rock, you are more than familiar with WOW, even if you, like me, never actually played the game, but were just intrigued as your friends or cousins became obsessed. I’d love to tell you that this is one of those ambitious, secretly interesting movies that’s only rejected because it’s uncool. Anyway it’s definitely uncool, probably the most astonishingly dorky thing to hit screens in ages, but it’s also mired in crummy design, endless exposition, and miserable performances (poor Paula Patton). More power to you if you can get through more than twenty minutes of it and not check out entirely.

Aw man there are things I really like about this! Considering the movie is 80% exposition, I eventually did find myself becoming attached to a few of these characters and interested in the lore. Clearly its crumbling under the weight of its many ideas, don’t particularly think it was a Duncan Jones problem though. Theres a pulse, it’s just very very faint. Although, what do I know, most of my WoW knowledge is from the South Park episode.

It’s fine, it’s there, it happened. Never seen an adaptation of a video game that reaches this level of visual grandeur, but Warcraft is a film that requires a certain extent of dorkiness in order to be fully appreciated. (Wish I’m part of the horde.) All the establishing shots of unique Warcraft locations made the film a truly awesome sightseeing experience, so I’m gonna click that little like button over the corner there to show my respect to Duncan Jones for having the balls to direct this, and because to cover such a huge amount of source material in less than two hours is no easy feat. Thank you for trying.

Say what you like about this film, it passes the Bechdel test, it attempts some really ambitious things, and it never made me want to smack my forehead and yell “REALLY?” like X-Men: Apocalypse did at least five or six times.

Warcraft is bizarre. I’ve really never seen anything like it before. I totally get why people who have never played the game are absolutely hating this movie. There is A LOT going on and there’s really no structure what so ever. Quite frankly, this film is a mess. The pacing is everywhere. The human acting is mediocre at best. The story tries to be a lot more complex than it actually is. There are plenty of issues with Warcraft to say the least. You know I avoided this movie for a long time. I thought I was gonna be absolute trash and moved on but boy was I wrong. Don’t get me wrong it’s not great, there’s some bad choices made here and some things I disliked. Overall I really enjoyed this, I loved the games and I know the lore behind them and this delivered in a lot of ways, I really wish they had made a continuation of the story cuz this just getting good. Watched in theaters on release, then watched it be recycled onto cable for years. This film almost had potential, but Blizzard was too strict with their universe. Though it completely lacked soul, it’s a fun watch for fans. I agree with another commenter: a ‘very shiny film’. I’d still love to see more.

Insane visuals, sound and character design for the orcs. But otherwise, it’s horrendous acting, corny dialogue and lame cinematography as well especially during the human portions. It’s like the human and orc portions were directed by two different directors. The randomness of this film has to be researched.

I enjoyed this movie! I will say if you aren’t involved in the WoW scene then it is strange to follow along. This movie feels like it was banking on a sequel to be “the big next franchise” although ultimately never fulfilling that goal. Overall, a fun watch that I would probably pick up again later in the future.

Good Morning Folks, Today a man of little merit begged me to review this film. I would not usually succomb to pleas by vermin, however, he has schemed his way into accumulation of some very powerful people of this app. I shall begin. I’ve watched this film twice. One was a joyous whimsical day with my father. The other was with Lilith Incarnate. I have to say I much preferred the former.
