I popped up to see my pal and she had just started watching this, and put it back to the start so I could watch it with her! She said it’s one of her favourite films. It was watchable, wee bit thrilling at times, but nothing extraordinary. Some of the technological language made me laugh. It was basic stuff like ‘he was able to hack my firewall’ and other phrases like it said in frantic tones! My pal really loves this though, she was saying all the lines and all that!

Pretty sure this low-grade copaganda piece is actually the only film that was actively against Net Neutrality. It’s kinda hilarious, but it’s also awful.

When I saw the bad guy’s long forehead I knew he was the killer. I don’t know how to describe it but it just looks like the forehead of a serial killer. I apologize to the actor. Diane Lane has a nice and earnest performance. Movie was kind of torture porn. For being “high tech” computer movie the FBI computer stuff was pretty lightweight.

Agent Marsh: “What are these tubes? Zoom in on the tubes. Sufluric acid. Sulfuric acid?” Detective Box: “If that’s water in that tank, pretty soon he’ll be sitting in battery acid.” In an office of the cybercrime devision of the FBI. Agent Jennifer Marsh is investigating an untraceable serial killer who is posting videos online of his victims. The more people that log on, the faster the person is killed. She needs to track him down before he kills again. This is a good cat and mouse detective story based in Portland, Oregon. Directed by Gregory Hoblit who has made some excellent thrillers. Primal Fear, Fallen, Fracture. As well as quite a few TV shows. This has a strong TV…

SPOOKTOBER V: DEATH’S DEVICE Very often, you hear people asking what’s in that movie that a lot of people haven’t seen, that has received a terrible RT rating, or that you personally love. I often struggle to provide a response, but I believe this film could be the answer. Since I watched it for the first time a decade ago or so, I find myself always thinking back to this film, but more specifically to that Christopher Beck theme song. So simple. So minimalist. Despite its simplicity, it captures a lot of the dark and melancholic aspects, and like a chameleon, it adapts to suit every possible scenario. Arguably my favorite by the composer. The film itself may not be…

The kind of movie that you see in the cinema 6 years ago and enjoy it but then forget about it and catch it 6 years later and go “Yeah that was decent” and then forget about it all over again.

Loved It! There was an odd twilight vibe to It but I loved trying to guess what was going to happen next! It was a fun movie but a bit gory.

I watched it for the first time today. It’s damn good, and the message is relevant to our time and society. There’s plenty to think about.

Ironically, I recently watched Thesis and rewatched Faces of Death so this kind of fits in with that vibe a bit though less engaging. But you gotta kind of love a movie that you can tell when it was made based on the color grading lol.

Very interesting concept. A detective who follows a case of “saw” type murders where people get captured and killed in various “creative” ways. This then is streamed on the internet. The more people that watch it, the quicker the kill happens. Very interesting concept. The main character goes through a lot of trauma. Although, she doesn’t really have a survivor instinct in some situations… and that while being a FBI agent.. Also extra sad that he killed a sweet lil kitty cat in the beginning of the movie cuz that was just horrible 🙁

Pretty decent film to watch when ur bored, feels like a type of saw copy. The pacing is pretty alright and it definitely had me anxious at some point. Only horror movie logic ruins it because why the hell would you get into the car of the person you think is out to get you? Anyway that had me frustrated also R.I.P. little kitty.

7/27/27 – J Horror Movie Mondays #132 Tonight my girlfriend chose a rewatch for her, Untraceable. Yes, it is a Saw derivative and yes, we have the first Saw at home (not the thousands of shitty sequels). And yes it’s Copeganda That aside, this film is 1000% on the money. We all would watch someone die and we’d do it gleefully and with snideful remakes to go along with it. Period. We do it everyday now and it’s only getting worse. How’s the Tool song go, oh yeah “vicariously I live while the whole world dies, you all feel it too, don’t lie.”

Could’ve watched anything today. Terrible in almost every possible way. From a technical standpoint, it needed a character arc and a twist but lacked either. From a moral standpoint, it’s just more utterly vile, indefensible copaganda. It’s also one of the last movies we got that treats computers like magic. The guy who wrote the draft of this movie that got it greenlit has been a credited screenwriter (and, in a couple of cases, director) on 12 (twelve!!) feature films…

Wow, you’re telling me the physical isolation of person and screen that the internet gives can cause detachment between a person and their empathy? Who would have thought. Next, there will be a movie about road rage and how cars both physically and emotionally isolate people thereby detaching them from their normal reasoning and decision making processes. Overall, not terrible. I’ve always been a fan of the blue grey filter that places like Portland and Seattle tend to have in…

loved the computer geek shit that the lady boss was speaking about. One would thing that, while gore on the internet is so vulgar these days, films such as these don’t have a impact anymore but they absolutely do. It’s a bit quirky and goofy but it’s very grounded and likeable.

my conclusion is that i watched this as some sort of live saw rather than a detective film and i too would be an accomplice one of those films that is clearly 2000 vibemaxxing (complementary) but ends up being forgettable because the amount of media who does that successfully is incredibly high and the actual execution of the plot is just okay

The story/concept has potential – the public’s engagement with disturbing stuff on the internet is now way, way beyond the imagination of the writers of this 2008 film. The serial killer has some inventive ends for his victims but sadly this film is no Seven.

More like ughtraceable. Wanted to like this movie but it lacks the bite of most thrillers, it relies on things that the Saw series does 10 times better. The plot is rather underwhelming but I can’t hate Diane Lane she’s always been a solid actress, I wish she was given more to chew on. The villain reveal is lazy, but the kills range from weird to just plain brutal. Colin Hanks tries to be the fun character in this and…

We’re back with yet another curiosity from a subgenre I’m rather fond of that I’ll dub, “golden age Internet movies,” films that were made when the digital world was still something to be marveled at, capturing the imaginations of the youth and fomenting endless anxiety within their elders. A more unkind (but equally truthful) name for this category would be “movies you would have seen in middle school health class.” Like every other movie concerning the Internet and its emerging…

Se7en, The Silence of The Lambs and Saw are all ‘inspirations’ for this grisly cyber thriller, which does at least boast a kernel of an interesting idea and a classy lead performance. It’s aesthetically flash but digitised and hollow, whilst the mystery is undercut by an unusual early reveal. The spec it’s based off was bought all the way back in 2002 – so kudos to the original writing team for some thematic precience – but the dramatic arcs and…

Year:2008 #UntraceableMovie is a psychological horror movie about an FBI agent who must try to stop a serial killer who begins posting his murders on a newly created website. I remember a reviewer, when Untraceable came out in 2008, talking about how he was disgusted by the concept of this movie. I’m not sure if he was disgusted by the movie itself; he was just disgusted by the concept of a serial killer who streamed his kills live on the internet. I’m not really disgusted by the concept. If I’m disgusted by anything it’s that the screenplay didn’t make more of the idea. The idea of the film—that viewers…

Clickbait Before Clickbait Was a Crime Scene In Untraceable, Diane Lane plays an FBI cyber‑agent who spends the whole movie looking like she’s one bad livestream away from quitting the internet forever. The premise is deliciously deranged: a killer sets up a website where each visitor speeds up the murder. It’s like early‑2000s moral panic distilled into a Saw trap built by someone who just discovered dial‑up. The film tries to warn us about the dangers of online voyeurism, but…

This film attempts to construct a cautionary fable regarding the morbid curiosity of the masses, yet it exposes its own creative bankruptcy from the very first act. Untraceable follows a narrative trajectory so thoroughly telegraphed that watching it unfolds less like an engaging thriller and more like watching a clock ticking toward an inevitable hour. The script relies entirely on standard, recycled police procedural tropes, draining the premise of any genuine suspense or artistic merit. Instead of elevating its concept…
