   when i turned my car on to leave the screening, “fortunate son” was on the radio. that seems like it should mean something. but what is meaning anymore? in the transformers movies, dinosaurs were put on earth by aliens and were actually robots, which seems like some psycho fundamentalist anti-evolution bullshit, but transforming is evolution. there is some religious imagery in this installment, and some vaguely intriguing stuff about the way faith and science work together to save the earth. but god is an evil alien robot tentacle lady, which seems pretty blasphemous? some of the robots are stupid racist caricatures, but this movie has many small supporting roles for non-white people…one of the heroes is a 14yr old latina,…

   ??/100 What dazzling, wondrous nonsense. The constantly shifting aspect ratio is oddly fitting for such an incoherent piece of plasticity and fantasy – each frame its own entity, apathetic of its peers. Mark Wahlberg threatens a child and Stanley Tucci plays Merlin. Whatever *this* is, you can be sure of two things: the formal complexity and visual work is something only Bay could accomplish, and the inept execution of its narrative is something only Bay could accomplish. He’s above (and far below) his peers in different ways.

   There is a transformer named “Nitro Zeus” who speaks in Ebonics and has a gold chain, and the first line he says is “I kicked more ass in prison!” Another one has a mohawk and sports an all-gold grill, and his first line is “The decepticons is in this muthafucka.”

   There was a scene in this movie where a small robot is surfing the web looking at photographs of cars and an irrelevant human side character looks over and says “is that a hookup site for autobots?” And the robot replies “no” before he scrolls over to a photo of a car with an excessive amount of garbage in the backseat and says “aw man look at the junk in her trunk!” This scene is all I’ve thought about for the past two and a half hours.

   “I didn’t make this movie for the critics. I didn’t even make it for the fans. I just made it for Matt.” — Michael Bay Easily the most baffling, incoherent, plastic, and gorgeous installment since REVENGE OF THE FALLEN, but sadly significantly less assaultive and toxic, tamer on that front even than AGE OF EXTINCTION. And yet Bay re-staging the opening of GLADIATOR and then later on pulling his own Omaha Beach with giant asshole robots is still a sight to behold; loaded with crazy wire pulls, car flips, and practical pyro…he’s still the only guy doing this stuff properly. If you can make the choice to tune into this wavelength these movies aren’t like anything else out there.

    I love michael bay’s transformers from 1-4. This was my childhood. I was excited for this one too but even myself cannot defend how terrible this movie. Robot with no name popping out of no where and name robots all of sudden goes missing. The first scene of this movie is dogshit already. Coming from a fan of the first 4 movies. This is one of the worst film I ever saw.

    How many more transformers came to earth secretly man 😭😭😭 thank god they packed this franchise up with this one Also whats with bay’s obssesion on making every significant human event connected to the transformers I get it it makes the world feel more familiar but you can do it once, twice heck even thrice but this one just went too far its actually absurd I remember being so hyped about nemisis prime before its release and getting so dissapointed by how they handled it, wasted potential You can say that for the whole franchise as well

    I watched this one, and then forgot about it. Why? Because its forgetful. I didn’t hate it, but I didn’t love it either it just very forgettable, well except for the opening scene. I will say there was an excellent scene where Bumblebee gets his voice back that almost made me cry, but, there is a also a few terrible scenes to balance it out. So its forgettable, does that make it the worst transformers movie? Maybe.

    Absolute garbage. Watched half before the footy on Friday and only thing good to come out of it was McDonald’s for dinner, had a nice triple cheeseburger large meal with a Vanilla Coke and also got a little cheeky and got 10 nuggets. Also won $400 on Oscar Allen too kick 3 goals so that was nice. Unfortunately had to put chopsticks in my eyes and finish the rest of this god awful movie. Actually have no idea what even happened in the movie and what the point of it is, I atleast had some water to enjoying during it

    What was the point of this film, everything about this film actually pissed me off. The idea that the transformers always were around just throws the whole plot of the first film out the window. This movie sucks and everyone who allowed this movie to exist sucks

The cast of human characters is easily the worst of the franchise and the whole Cogman x Hopkins adventure is a bit exhausting, but genuinely blown away by just how odd every single shot of this film is. Artifice and all, The Last Knight constantly disorients you through its narrative shortcuts and intense approach to editing. It assumes you’ve seen your fair share of blockbusters before and uses that to speed run anything that isn’t moving 100mph.

    Those constant frame-rate changes were very infuriating, but the batshit plot goes all in with its madness and serves up plenty of dumb fun. Much better than the awful pile of triceratops poopoo that was Ass of Extinction. A little side note: All the final boss fights end far too quickly throughout Bay’s Transformers series.

    This is the last Transformers movie I finished with previous viewings. I really struggle to enjoy the story, but the action is not completely awful at least. This movie completely retcons Bumblebee speaking at the end of the first one for no reason whatsoever. The aspect ratio is incredibly annoying. The changes are so frequent it becomes super distracting. Credit where credit is due, the main female lead of this movie actually gets to contribute to the story in a meaningful way. Big step up from the last two movies.
