A ranking of the performances. Anyone not listed just doesn’t register: 27. Charlton Heston: barely there cameo. 26. Frank Stallone: solid performance as a name in the credits that you recognize. 25. John Corbett: solid performance as a face and voice you recognize. 24. Thomas Arana: unobtrusive but noticeable. 23. Paula Malcolmson / Lisa Collins: they do good work but they’re given almost nothing to work with. 22. Terry O’Quinn: great actor in a nothing role. 21. Jason Priestley: he isn’t bad or forgettable, he just doesn’t measure up to those around him or the role he’s playing. 20. Pat Brady: the way he scoffs “yeah right” when Wyatt introduces himself is Oscar-worthy. 19. Harey Carey Jr.: the epitome of…

If you are a dude, or have ever posed as supporting the Dudes Rock movement, and have not seen this movie, or don’t recognize it as an unimpeachable classic, you are no daisy at all. This movie is peak masculinity, you may not like it, but it is a fact. A movie about how much fun it would have been to live in the Old West. Just think about it, fucking around with guns all day, smoking opium, buying laudanum over the counter, drinking 200 proof whiskey, gambling, whoring, having tuberculosis. You can kill someone for calling you a cheater in a card game and everyone will just be like “it’s a private affair and it was a fair fight”,…

“Why Johnny Ringo, you look like someone just… walked over your grave.” Meandering and messy, brazen and shameless, this sprawling western kinda-epic came out the same year as the Costner/Kasdan Wyatt Earp and should have been the quintessential also-ran. But sheer showmanship and a full-frontal embracing of the genre hold this film together in a way that makes it imminently re-watchable. Val Kilmer, his feet nailed firmly to the floor by Kurt Russell’s Marshal Earp, delivers his most indelible performance as consumptive reprobate and gambling gunfighter Doc Holiday. He did his homework, building his Holiday on a handful of historically accurate flourishes, and his bromance with Russell’s Wyatt is deeply felt and poignantly resolved. The always reliable Sam Elliot and…

Subtle: adjective: a – pleasing to the senses in a mild or nuanced way b – clever and indirect : disguised in purpose c – having or involving keen perception or insight d – cunningly made or contrived This movie wasn’t subtle by any of these definitions. The way it’s structured is how I imagine a still pubescent boy imagine a western should be. It’s almost impressive how much time one can waste when one has no sense of good…

Immaculate in entertainment for two thirds – one liners like you wouldn’t believe, charisma for days, presence like no one could ask more of. A shame about the rest: the last third is a waste of an audience’s time, you’ll instinctively dismiss every single female character in this picture for lack of any meaningful contribution, the score is borderline abominable (that scene where Kurt Russell walks into the rain after Morgan is shot almost confounds), and under no circumstances does…

Tombstone is a town where lawless cowboys rule. There to make a living came Waitt Yerp and his family. They only wanted to do business but situations made them bring the Law into the hearts of The Cowboys. This film is patchy and average for a western. Val Kilmer steals the show with his eccentric yet fearless character Doc Haliday. Kurt Russel was also good. Except some scenic beauty and good acting there is nothing more to say about this film. Story and Direction is not up to the mark. A forgettable film. But a good entertaining one time watch.

Tombstone is a good Western with some problems. The acting is really good, especially Val Kilmer as Doc Holliday. He completely steals the movie for me. He’s charismatic, funny, unpredictable, and makes every scene he’s in more entertaining. Kurt Russell is also great as Wyatt Earp, but Kilmer is definitely the standout. The cinematography and camera work are pretty normal. Nothing really stood out to me visually. It looks good and fits the Western setting, but I wouldn’t say the…

It was fine I guess. Wasn’t really that interested throughout but it had some cool scenes. Doc holliday carried HEAVILY and was the only character I grew some form of attachment to during the movie. Dare I say it’s overhyped? Not a bad watch though I was entertained.

May be the most quotable movie ever made. I could easily say I have watched this movie 100 times. Val Kilmer is top notch as Doc Holiday, and has ruined that part for anyone that tries to recreate it in the future. Tombstone is probably in the top five movies that I’ve quoted the most in my life, with a brilliant script, and wonderful cast, this is my favorite western. I’m not gonna write much of a review. They’re just some things that want to say. While it’s a newer western, it’s really shot like a classic one, especially the romance scenes between Wyatt and the actress, the sunsets and the setting, the score is the throwback to the 50s. The violence…

“Alright, Clantan. You called down the thunder. We’ll, now you got it.” I love the part where they just ice like 100 dudes. Seriously, some of the best lines and line deliveries I’ve ever seen in a movie. And there are plenty of beautiful shots of the American landscape. Not to mention the incredibly strong mustaches and friendships. Badass walking sequences and sick shootouts. And the score is incredible. An absolute classic.

the most westerny western ever westerned. doc Holliday is an amazing character. his dialogue is amazing and val kilmers deliver is just so on point. i think wyatt errp is perfect for the time and his decisions seem a bit odd for today but in that time it fits really well. the costume design is great ringo and mcmasters are excellent examples of how to write people that arnt the leaders of the “evil group” i think the beef between…

I struggle to write a substantive review about Tombstone, so I suppose I will simply say a few things about this film that I love: Kurt Russell and Val Kilmer kill their roles as Wyatt Earp and Doc Holliday; its honestly a shame that these roles aren’t discussed when talking about both actors’ best roles. The film does a great job of keeping us rooting for the good guys by making the outlaws genuinely awful people; far is the romanticism…

You’d think the movie people call the best movie about Wyatt Earp would be for me. Unfortunately, the movie was very slow and boring for me. the cast does good here, especially Kurt Russell, and the cinematography is excellent, but this movie just isn’t for me. I will say that I actually prefer “Wyatt Earp” starring Kevin Costner more because it has more entertainment value and more action.

Yeah this movie still rocks. The second half loses itself a little bit when it turns into a 80s action movie for some random stretches but it is still so fun to watch. All of the actual non-montage shootouts are staged super well and have their own memorable moments. Kilmer and Russell are both so charismatic and cool that you can’t take your eyes off them for 2 hours. They are surrounded by a ton of great supporting performances that really make this world feel alive. Even with its flaws, this is still probably my favorite western.

I do not even know where to begin with this film. This may be one my favorite Westerns of all time. It’s slick, it’s stylish, the casting is perfect; there is just no way you don’t see the Earp Family and Doc Holiday walk side by side and not get chills.
