Basically a super-sized episode of CSI if it were partially shot like the “YOU WOULDN’T STEAL A CAR” adverts before aughts-era DVDs and starred James Spader & Keanu Reeves. Dumb fun with a surprisingly solid soundtrack (Portishead, Sneaker Pimps, “Dragula”) and hilariously abrupt ending.

there is something inherently funny about james spader seeing keanu reeves just standing there drinking a beer in a graveyard and then immediately pulling a gun on him. but there’s also something inherently romantic about keanu killing like twenty women and then telling james spader he did it because he and james were destined to be together. this movie is a romantic comedy is what i’m trying to say.

This is a film that begins with Keanu Reeves dancing awkwardly to a club remix of “Dragula”, and it causes you to think oh my god this is going to be incredible where has this been my entire life, but then the rest of the film happens and it reveals itself as one of the worst films ever made. Absolutely incredible free-fall. Holy shit. Sorta think if you switch Reeves and Spader’s roles it might work though

50 Shelf Random Movie Roulette, Episode #3 Shelf 41 & Disk# 9 If I could score the soundtrack alone here it’d be 4.5 stars with this late 90’s Rob Zombie soundtrack. 🎵”Go, go, Zombie, ye ye ye”🎶 On a more serious note Keanu hardly sells the terrorizing type. He also kinda carries the scenes where he’s with the lead Spader which makes for a bit of a lopsided feel to the quality of the character performances. Otherwise it’s an entertaining enough serial killer thriller to entertain most Keanu fans. Just don’t expect John Wick level action. Do you know the moment, when you watch a movie for some reason (James Spader) and you get a familiar feeling? It’s just a hunch at first, but about halfway through you realize, yea, I’ve seen that one before. That’s how I felt here. That doesn’t exactly speak for quality. A not really deep psychological game of cat and mouse, but still with some entertaining moments like Keanu Reeves dancing to Rob Zombie or James Spader being James Spader.

watched this for Spader, but wasn’t as hooked as i was hoping to be. some cool elements, but mostly done better in earlier years thrillers, such as A Perfect Murder. while i enjoyed having the killer send Spader pictures of his next victims – along with a hard deadline – there’s almost just that to the story. a lot of these movies (and i’ll say this as well of SE7EN) lack a vilain with a stronger connection to the protagonist.…

Okay hear me out, as a movie? It’s okay, like right down the middle okay… BUT! Tons of iconic moments, like Keanu dancing to Rob Zombie, like Spader eating a whole lemon??? Plot is clunky and the short run time drags. Keanu just isn’t meant to play a straight up villian. The real villian is the director who forged Keanu’s signature so he had to be in it to avoid a lawsuit?! You hate to see it.

Spader yelling at random citizens in the street when they dgaf about a missing girl was my favourite part of this. Hugely significant film for the “Is Keanu Reeves ever actually good?” hive. If you’re in the mood for a nasty lil serial killer story, the Korean film The Chaser is an incredibly similar story which subverts every boring, played-out trope of this disgracefully cheesy thriller which doesn’t dare to go anywhere that we haven’t been before.

woah not good. bad editing, music, characters, etc. tonally confused and all over the place. somewhat entertaining here and there, but mostly pretty dull and forgettable. Spader is as good as he can be. the director of this film royally fucked Reeves – yet Reeves is such a nice guy, he agreed to stay on board just as long as he wasn’t advertised as having a big role in the film. jeesh..

No. is this an ENJOYABLE movie? if you’re gay and like your classical thriller, absolutely yes, which is of course my case. there’s a cadence in which every word spoken is said that is both utterly deranged and completely befitting. there is inconsistencies throughout. its clear the production is both “good” and extremely contrived, and the script is, well, a little silly. but whatever drug they put for it to be THIS gay is… Well. it works on me! amazing soundtrack, too, and stylistically strong. Can’t ask for much more! its camp in the beaten, drug addicted, malformed late90s to 2000s.

Nun sei aber gesagt, dass der Film zwar stellenweise spannend war, aber Keanu Reeves für mich als Bösewicht überhaupt nicht funktioniert hat. Irgendwie war da etwas aus dem Takt. Die Figur passte nicht zu der ruhigen, ehrlichen und charmanten Art von ihm. Am Ende des Filmes blieb bei mir die Frage: “Und was jetzt?” Für meinen Geschmack hat der Film zu wenig hinterlassen. Unterm Strich: Ja, der Film hatte zwar Schwächen, aber er hat mich dennoch etwas unterhalten.

Tampoco es que el personaje dé para mucho más: intentan hacer un Moriarty o un Hannibal Lecter, el asesino obsesionado con quien investiga, y les sale descafeinado de marca blanca. El detective amargado tampoco arregla mucho, es un poco inestable. Pero el rollo de dar la pista para encontrar a la víctima contrarreloj siempre mola, y la atmósfera oscura, urbana y sucia le va bien. Así que bueno, para un ratillo bien.

I’m convinced the original script was a split personality thing which would explain the strangeness of character behaviour, and instead they beefed up Keanu Reeves role (after being forced to take part as it seems). If that wasn’t the case, it would at least be more interesting than whatever this so basic and dully plotted film was. James Spader and Reeves look like they want to be somewhere else the entire time.

yo the unexpected back to back Beltrami is pretty sweet!! this movie has a bunch of weirdness that makes it stand out for me in comparison to other movies like it. whether that’s a pro or a con, i don’t really know yet. the dream sequences and low-frame rate edits are kind of strange. on the plus side, the movie has a bunch of fun action, super cool fire effects, and seeing Reeves play a villain is a unique experience. there is quite a bit of language so that i didnt appreciate but overall, the movie was a fun watch!

Taunting Joel with photographs of his intended victims and leaving his crime scenes meticulously free of clues in order to keep the police at bay, Griffin derives as much pleasure out of watching Joel react to every movement as watching his victims die. But when Griffin moves into Joel's inner circle, Joel must quickly find some way to stop him before someone close to him becomes the next one to die.
