So early 2000’s. Sweaty and dirty. Hot young people getting taken down one by one. This was actually pretty creepy and frightening. Would have scared me if I saw it in 2003.

The story of a young woman’s (played by Jessica Biel) repeated attempts to dry her tank top. At every turn a chainsaw wielding maniac is there, and try as she might she just cannot get to a stopping point in order to dry said garment. Sometimes you have to kill someone to be comfortable.

At one point I wondered out loud “I wonder where this takes place? Maybe Ohio?” and that’s why you don’t inhale helium to make your voice sound higher in 4th grade and kill all your brain cells because you become a dumbass like me

Obviously can’t compare to the sheer metaphysical terror of the best horror film of all time but it’s pretty effectively grimy, has R. Lee Ermey going psycho mode and it doesn’t even try to replicate the iconic horror setpieces; instead choosing to come up with a few new ones of its own which deserves some credit I think. I liked it when Leatherface tries to pick up his dismembered arm that’s spinning around on the floor still gripping the running chainsaw.

Classic 2000s horror. Everything feels so grimy, mean, and disgusting, with such a dirty look in its color grading and production design. Perfect for the type of uncomfortableness that the TCM franchise has set up. The one thing I’ve noticed 5 films into this franchise is how great every actor is at showing how traumatized they are. Just like Marilyn Burns and Caroline Williams from the first two films, Jessica Biel puts on a performance of just complete and utter…

This movie was such a breath of fresh air after watching the 1986 part 2 of the Texas chainsaw massacre, which was just hours of goreslop and lost plot. This one felt like it actually had depth in it, especially when they added more characters like Jedidiar, and the baby Erin saved at the end. This remake was honestly better than the originals and way more actionable and entertaining. Things I also noticed in this movie, which made it fun…

i’m actually in awe of how beautifully lit every single shot was !!! there was somehow always the most magical shine of light beaming through the fog !!?!! plus i love the early 2000s horror green tint. the original does ‘less is more’ so perfectly… this movie does the MOST. and no way was he actually THAT fast !!! already a known fact but Jessica Biel is INCREDIBLE !!!

I really didn’t care for this at all when I saw it on its initial release. I didn’t like the tone, the weird greasy look of it, or this version of Leatherface (or his clan (including R. Lee Ermey, sadly)). It’s been a long time since I revisited it, and I’m still not crazy about this particular Chainsaw Massacre, but it’s not terrible. Not sure why I like The Beginning so much more, but that remains the case and this one hovers at the bottom edge of my top five for the franchise.

I’m surprised how much I enjoyed this. I expected it to pale in comparison to the original, but it really does it’s own thing, while paying homage to that. The family is different, the aesthetic is slightly different and aside from some similar plot beats, the third act feels entirely different – and, thankfully, they didn’t even try to recreate the iconic dinner scene which would’ve been a fools errand. Daniel Pearl’s cinematography is as grimy and filthy as it…

I would actually kill myself before Leatherface ever got near me because the sound of a chainsaw overstims me so damn much 😭😭

Nothing extraordinary but this was such a refreshing change in pace after the last two entries of the franchise. This movie does many things so well that the others miss on, Its dark, brutal, we get to spend more than 20 minutes with the main talents before they start getting killed and the final girl is an actually enjoyable character to watch. They effectively made Leatherface scary and gave him more depth instead of just making him a chainsaw-wielding horny…

ViewCount: 1 Rating; 7/10 An enjoyable horror remake of the 200s taking its own liberties while sto l retelling a similar story. I don’t mind the changes too much and in some cases it helps to add a different form of gritting to the gore. I will say this one helps hold my attention a little more at the beginning of the film than the original, but in this one it does change the motive behind who they pick up…

Has its pros and cons but the fact that a Michael Bay produced remake of Texas Chain Saw Massacre isn’t complete dogshit is a feat in itself. Also it not being a straight remake trying to replicate the iconography of the original is pretty cool. Jessica Biel is great and so is the Leatherface design. But the “rednecks are weird”-energy and the early 2000s Hollywood-grimy Marilyn Manson music video-aesthetics are so over the top from time to time it’s almost…

Solid entry. Nothing beats the original and I still love part 2 more than this remake but, for a remake its pretty great.

Watched half of it. Felt weird. Went home and had a really disturbing and sickening dream that the movie 100% contributed to.

had stomach-churning moments, thanks to leatherface himself as usual, the problem with all of these movies after the second original one is that they all took that original sawyer family dyamic and decided to take that, add like 5 random people, and not even develop their relationships with each other, and most importantly, WITH LEATHERFACE, different universe or not, how are you gonna make him feel less scary/inmortant than the other 3 cuckoo “family members” (like the sheriff) or even, apparently, the whole town lmao, leatherface IS the texas chainsaw massacre

Out of all the remakes of the 2000s, it’s The Texas Chainsaw Massacre that stands as a diamond amongst the rough. As a horror movie, I do really like it. I think it looks great, has some solid performances and good scares. The girl shooting herself and then we go through the bullet hole and out of the van in that one-shot – that’s the best part of the movie. It has some really good set-pieces and scares, can’t believe…

If we’re being technical then I have seen this movie at least 50 times in the form of a two and a half minute long MMV on YouTube. It’s actually quite enjoyable on the full-length watch too.

The barometer for what is good and bad for this franchise is hard to gauge. Every one of these entries makes me appreciate the original in a new light. This remake recreates a number of scenes as expected, what’s not expected is how poorly they are done. All the more surprising when they had rehired the original cinematographer. I’m not some connoisseur of audio design but this is grating to me. The sound has aged so poorly, maybe it was…

This and The Hills Have Eyes are among the few remakes from this time that I think are pretty good. It doesn’t hold a candle to the original, and maybe that’s nostalgia talking… But this movie is wonderfully directed, great cinematography and a lot of really memorable moments and characters. My one big gripe with it is I’m just not a fan of the third act… I’m of two minds about it, on one hand we’ve seen them rip off…

Texan villains: Leatherface, Blue Duck, Judge Holden, you gotta marry one, fuck one, kill one, GO! Me: Kill Judge Holden, fuck Blue Duck, marry Leatherface. Well I mean he could make a mean plate of BBQ. This movie is gas. RIP R. Lee Ermey. Rev your Poulan and fucking dig it.
