There’s just something about that super grimy mid-00’s horror aesthetic that I love so much. Just yellowed out and dirty as hell and makes you feel like you need a tetanus shot just from watching it. Good stuff! This remake sequel tries a little too hard to outdo the remake and ends up falling behind it as a result, but I still enjoy it way more than I should every time I watch it. I’m not here to tell anyone that this is a “good” movie, but I will say it’s fun and DEEP in those 00’s torture porn vibes and there are a couple of moments of almost unbearable tension so I honestly rate it a little higher each time…

It was good of this movie to let us know that Leatherface started butchering people because he got laid off from his job. I know that feeling! Am I right guys!!!!!!!!!!!!

Definitely of its time with its enhanced grotesque aesthetic, Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Beginning is dingy, murky, highly mean spirited, and ultra violent with characters put through the ringer of horrible situation after horrible situation. It’s pretty easy to see why many people wouldn’t like this so I totally get it, but I dunno… I like this sicko sepia movie. This thing really feels like it’s coated in a mixture of blood and piss, a regular stained shit house of grim grime and bloody murder. Despite the fact that leatherface actor Andrew Bryniarski is one of the biggest jerkoffs that I’ve ever encountered (luckily he’s not in it THAT much), he’s actually a decent leatherface, and this seque/prequel hits most…

Can you really blame Leatherface for wanting Matt Bomers face? I sure can’t. Relatable king!

Um…Terrifier tease… I just, like, didn’t care; after they quit showing Chrissie; often. She literally just crawled around silently-all movie. Why’d they make everyone kinda dumb, like, at least everyone did 2-3 things that pissed me off and drastically affected the plot? A lot of the ways of trying to scare us started feeling repetitive and made me clock out, like, pretty much as soon as Chrissie agreed to go with this strange biker; back to the house; that harassed…

I swear if every horror movie has to put in a stock gasp sound effect from Hello Neighbor, this is the problem within how it makes sense to me to be fair.

I recall liking this one more, but this viewing just wasn’t really working for me. It has the exact opposite problem I had with the remake: I love the first two Acts of the remake, and the third act is just “meh…” The prequel, the first two acts are “meh” and the third act is where all the fun is… R. Lee Ermey is the best thing about both movies.

“I’m glad you brought your little buddy… I like your new face” Okay so I may have liked R. Lee Ermey in the previous film, but I didn’t like him enough to be chill with a TCM prequel that focused as much on him as it did Leatherface. The interactions within the family are a lil less interesting this time as well, and some scenes feel too gore-less when they really should’ve had gore. Cinematography is a lot less interesting…

less of a leatherface backstory and more of a series of events where you think to yourself “what will sheriff hoyt do next?”

    1) 2006 2)2003 3)1995 This is by far #1 in the movie franchise. Great slasher film, best era 2000’s, super eerie. And with R. Lee Ermey, you can’t say you didn’t like this movie. The tea lady freaked me out.
