I don’t know what I just watched, but that was not a sequel to The Outlaw Josey Wales. I know there was little to no budget, but just make a standard western, would have maybe made it a little bit better, especially since there’s no involvement from Clintwood what’s the point in even calling it a sequel. Only positive I can give it is the ballad absolutely slaps tbf. Doesn’t change the fact it’s awful though, that’s 88 minutes I’m never reliving. 0.5/10

What a bizarre little film. One of the most obscure and unnecessary sequels of all time, a weird no-budget vanity project from star/director Parks during a low ebb in his career. The thing’s a redlink on Wikipedia and it’s not hard to see why; it’s like a fan film gone rogue.

Why watch a good movie when you can watch a poorly reviewed, low budget western ripped from VHS and uploaded to YouTube?

An odd thing. Following 10 years on from the release of ‘The Outlaw Josey Wales’, it’s difficult to see why ‘The Return of Josey Wales’ even exists – especially without the involvement of the original’s star, Clint Eastwood. It was hardly going to be a moneymaker, either. I found this 1986 flick to be extremely slow and uninteresting, none of the actors or characters stick out even minutely. Michael Parks is an OK cast on paper, but as Josey Wales he just doesn’t fit what we’ve previously seen from the character. Rafael Campos, in his final film role, would be the one I’d name as the standout if asked, but that’s just via a process of elimination. It’s the absolute…

For some strange reason, Michael Parks decided to do a low-budget sequel to Clint Eastwood’s mega hit. It’s pretty obscure, with very little information about it online. The movie itself is a decent B-western with the usual stock plots and characters. The acting ranges, as expected, from good to bad. The main characters do a solid job, including Parks, who, while obviously not Eastwood, still plays the part with a nice dose of cool. The worst part of the movie, however, is it’s literally dying on VHS, so its got a wide range of technical issues. The photography is often murky, especially during night scenes, where it looks terrible. Daytime shots, though, aren’t nearly as bad. The dialogue style seems…

A fan made film… a really bad fan made film. How is this even an official sequel? 1986 Ranked Next up: Unforgiven (1992)

A low budget movie to one classic movie, what could possibly go wrong? Those are 90 minutes that I’m not going to get back. This thing is terrible. I don’t know what’s worse, the editing or the performances. A movie that doesn’t deserve to live.
