“Alright look yeah there might be sharks… I don’t know” – Uninspiring Speech, – Daily Horror Hunt #12 (June 2019): boxd.it/2XMsk Day 20: Watch a shark movie. I’d swim my ass off. I am an enneagram 8, I will swim until my arms fall off or I pass out. Five attractive people go on a trip to the Reef and get chased by Great White sharks when they get stuck in the reef. I just found every person in this to be boring. You know what makes sharks much more interesting? Stephen Spielberg and John Williams. I ended up hoping all these people would die. Not a recommend!

and yet another shark film to reaffirm my absolute terror of swimming in open water! yay !!

Australian shark nailbiter dials up the realism with some good underwater footage, well done attacks, and solid tension. Lazy afternoon movie scratched my shark movie craving despite the slow burn open water impending doom type movies not usually being my thing. It’s ok—unnerving when it needs to be… plus knowing that this was based on real events gives me anxiety because this whole situation is nightmare terrible.

Hard to believe that only 1 person wore goggles out in the ocean. Based on a true story I’m sure the film industry likes to exaggerate just to make it more intense, but still. There were a few moments that were like whoa wait a minute what did I miss. One moment the guy is down in the boat and the next he’s under water inside the boat. Overall, it was alright. 🌊

As an Australian person myself I am allowed to say this, Australian people are the worst, they make for the most annoying characters ever. I was gunning for the shark to eat every single one of them. The amount of times they said “what was that?” or “shit, what is it?” had me so frustrated, umm you’re in the middle of the ocean stranded, what the eff do you think it is you dumbass? Anyway, movie was ok, just awful characters.

if nobody gets ate by a shark IMMEDIATELY a “movie” is not worth “watching”

I don’t like sharks. This film has not helped improving that. Bloody hell, this was tense. I applaud the filmmakers for doing very much with so little. The script could have been better, but in the end it’s about the suspense in films like this. And there it delivers more than enough.

Solid shark movie, not much cgi and the cgi they had was great, they used by the looks of it real footage of a great white but it blended really well with the scenes it was in. Suspense was on point and the concept is great.

I REALLY enjoyed this!! The suspense and action are there almost immediately, and once they’re in that water, the tension just does not let up. There’s something about being stranded in open water with a great white that is infinitely more terrifying than being trapped somewhere you can actually RUN from. And the blood was BLOODY. The shark looked SO real too, which made the attacks hit that much harder. The use of real shark footage genuinely makes such a…

Nivel de ayuda en este tipo de films: Gritarte ‘¡sal del agua!’ desde el bote mientras te come un tiburón. Cuek.

Honestly this movie kinda slaps and I’m shocked how long it took me to watch it. Love the real shark footage.

Although the character development is essentially non-existent, the performances generally subpar, and the filmmaking quite mediocre, the tension here is hugely impressive. The best parts are when we’re looking for the shark underwater through a snorkelling mask, and sometimes we don’t see it, but sometimes we do, and sometimes it attacks, and these moments are just exhilarating (seriously!).

Realistic depiction totally works, I like its structure more than most trash shark movies Taking real stories is meh. Would’ve liked it more if was more based on the story it claimed to be based on, or less. Weirdly toes the middle ground, especially bc the real victims were re-traumatized upon this film’s release

Man what a tough decision, stay on the boat and wait or swim in shark infested waters for 10 miles 🤔

This isn’t a shark movie; it’s a movie where the sharks make a 10-minute guest appearance.

The Reef (2010) ★★½ Review: The Reef is a decent shark movie, but it finds itself swimming in an ocean that has become pretty damn crowded. There have been so many shark films over the last couple of decades that I’ve honestly lost count, and unfortunately, most of them start to blend together. This one is better than a lot of the bargain-bin shark movies that followed, thanks to its relatively grounded approach and some genuinely tense moments. The problem…

The soap opera cinematography almost did me in, but honestly the performances (when things really kick off) gave me a lot to chew on… ehh? EHHH?? You get it.

if i understand correctly this shark shouldn’t be this up north so it’s probably there because the water got warmer and the water got warmer because of the human made climate change so if anyone is the bad guy here it’s us humans

Boring and repetative. Last 20 min are pretty tense tho. Would’ve been helped by interesting dialog and character dynamics. All footage of sharks is real (as far as I can tell) but that means the shark related deaths are a bit anticlimactic. This movie just needed something more. From what I hear, it’s just inspired by a real story so the real people don’t have direct equivalents in the movie. You would think that will give the film makers more freedom to develope the chatacters but it seems like they didn’t have much interest in it.

Very tense but I couldn’t stop thinking about they would be so fine irl and especially fine if they stopped splashing the fuck about

Once you set rules for how a character acts in a crisis you reallllllllly shouldn’t change them ESPECIALLY if that character is supposed to be basically a professional sailor and has shown already that he knows the basics about sharks and then all of the sudden is splashing around with everyone else and not taking control like he did earlier. Waiting until there’s 40 minuets left in a 1.5 hour long movie is INSANE and should be punishable by stepping on a Lego

genuinely was so high when watching this I just lay with my eyes closed. Way too much talking and why were there no sharks for the whole movie? And also all I could focus on was the grown ass man putting his goggles on every single time he went into the water
-
B
How in the hell did that boat flip over like that? Takes pretty bad sailors to not be keeping an eye on the depth to allow that to happen, especially in a reef! And the guy hogging the goggles is a horrible look out.
