This is how action movies are made. No shaky cam, no quick cuts. Just raw unhindered action. Every single blow is shown clearly. It’s brutal, but it’s artful. The biggest problem with action movies today is that you don’t actually see any action. You just see blurs , and hart grunting because the directors are to lazy to actually choreograph the fighting. This is the complete opposite, you see everything as it was happening right in front of you. This is so much more engaging, and interesting than your average Hollywood schlock. Indonesia dose America better than America.

An elite squad of cops raid a ruthless-as-fuck drug lord’s dungeon of death. A hyper-intense workout. Kissing your wife goodbye and hoping like fuck you will see her again. Headshot. Headshot. Headshot. Headshot. Catching a lucky break for a split-second. Hammer to the fuckin head. A bad lieutenant. A noble-as-fuck sergeant. A badass rookie with a secret agenda. Your last TV show. Shit-stained pants. The alarm of doom. The one honest guy in a building full of crazed fuckers. Hallway insanity. Mad fuckin Dog, the biggest fuckin Academy Award snub ever. Throwing a fucker out the window. A crazy-eyed fuck with a machete. Total darkness, then bullets every fuckin where. Guns take away the rush. Mad Dog vs.Sarge is like…

Still has yet to be a martial arts hand to hand action movie that even touches this level 10 years later The only thing close enough is raid 2 This will always be my go to for visceral bloody action where it feels like the actors are genuinely trying to kill each other

Its stupefying, pulpy excess is best summed up by the fact that the credits include the role “Drug Lab Guard #21.”

If Crocodile Dundee wielded action movies instead of knives, this is the movie he would hold up whenever some punk claimed to be wielding an action movie. “That’s not an action movie. THIS…is an action movie.”

There’s JUST enough of a plot to get the ball rolling and then it’s non-stop beautifully coreographed violence. They name drop a certain character so many times you htink there’s no way he’s gonna live up to the hype but oh boy when they appear it pays off. One of the best action movies ever. This, John Wick and Kingsman are my action picks for sure.

After you finish watching this movie, you will never see action movies the same again.

After seeing this I can confidently assert that it’s a fucking crime Evans never got his shot at Deathstroke. I can only dream now, and that just hurts my soul. Phenomenal action. Not a second of which my eyes weren’t on the screen like glue. And Mike Shinoda of all people on the score? Fits surprisingly(?) well.

Nonstop video game action mayhem. Wave after wave of baddies with stylish over-the-top violence. I don’t know why they thought 20 or so cops would be enough to deal with an entire building full of people but whatever.

This is what hollywood dreams to do. Full going action, perfect choreographys, stunning cinematography, great characters It’s impressive how a movie with a budget of 1,5 buttons can do better job at showing a fight than some “famous” dudes; here I can see and distinguish all the action, meanwhile other movies… Writing it’s not bad either, theres no police propaganda, movie directly says that someone’s are bad but that not everyone. all the character better than what i expected and both antagonist are well done In general it’s a great movie, great piece of culture for showing the pacak silat, truly amazing art

On a rewatch I realized there’s really nothing stopping me from giving this 5 stars. Just so incredibly impressive on all fronts and an inevitable reference point for any good martial arts movie that has come after it

There’s this 5’2 midget fighter who wreaks shit so hard. His performance is worthy of like 15 Oscar’s alone. The rest of the cast fuck hard too, a choreographic masterpiece.

My biggest annoyance with movies like this is the waves of goons I have to watch get beaten before the big fights come up. While the choreography is intense and excellent from start to finish, it’s not very striking to watch functionally infallible heroes beating people we know are going to get crushed. Also, the use of guns in the earlier parts of the film wasn’t as fun to watch, although seeing the protagonists struggle added some stakes. I wasn’t…

Fights, blood and adrenaline from start to finish. Almost no story, but the action is absolutely insane. Gareth Evans delivers a brutal, spectacular action movie. Dumb, violent fun done right.

- Synopsis
- Deep in the heart of Jakarta's slums lies an impenetrable safe house for the world's most dangerous killers and gangsters. Until now, the run-down apartment block has been considered untouchable to even the bravest of police. Cloaked under the cover of pre-dawn darkness and silence, an elite swat team is tasked with raiding the safe house in order to take down the notorious drug lord that runs it. But when a chance encounter with a spotter blows their cover and news of their assault reaches the drug lord, the building's lights are cut and all the exits blocked. Stranded on the sixth floor with no way out, the unit must fight their way through the city's worst to survive their mission. Starring Indonesian martial arts sensation Iko Uwais.
