IN-FUCKING-CREDIBLE!!! The Raid 2 is single handedly the best action movie I ever seen! The action choreography was absolutely mind blowing. The Raid 2 is a mixture of Die Hard and Kill Bill on steroids. I’m sorry young Bruce Willis, Iko Uwais has taken your place as my favorite action star of all time. The hand to hand combat is insane. I witnessed the great car chase sequence of my life. If you ever see a chick wielding hammers, RUN! Baseball Bat Guy was a beast too. The film is also shot with amazing precision. After I left the theater, I needed a huge drink of water to cool myself down because I was totally amped. Just WOW! I seriously can’t put the last 30 minutes into words. This film is nothing short of a game changer for action films.

in most movies, a guy gets shot in the face once and you barely see it, so it’s really terrific to find one where you get to see him get shot 17 times through his motorcycle helmet with an Italian machine pistol and then run over by a truck.

“No… I’m done.“ No one, absolutely no one in the history of human-destroying undercover cop thrillers and heroic bloodshed has earned those last words quite like Rama. Still a benchmark for modern action cinema. Still a beastly sequel.

Rama is back and ready to kick some fuckin’ ass and take some fuckin’ names. Shotgun mother fucker. The Bad Lieutenant. The man that was never there. The only fuckin’ choice. If you’re a fuckin’ badass, you will look even more badass in a mother fuckin’ hoodie. Deep fuckin’ Cover. Shit fight. Wall boxing. The Mop of Death. Curb fuckin’ stomp. Mud wrestling. Rama’s Magic Mike moment. A flat screen tv. Yummy SIM card. A strap-on king-kong dong. An oriental rug. Sauve Uco. Fuckin’ karaoke. You can’t make a sequel to The Raid without Mad fuckin’ Dog. Red, Red, Wine. Mad Dog’s baby mama drama. A beeper. How the fuck-fuckin’-fuck do you kill a Mad fuckin’ Dog? Sign language. Stop,…

The kitchen fight scene living as the very viscera I crave within anything else. A plucked contained 7 minute epic surrounded by a pretty overall cool movie. Drawn out at times sure but made up for by the bloodied dance of hand to hand fights that just crave attention. They’re to be witnessed by a feat of pure manpower, raw skill, and toned in dedication. When the white tiles of the kitchen floor are painted red with the winner’s blood only then do you feel like you lived a part of something.

Things I’ve learned from The Raid 2: – Indonesian people snap like twigs. – I didn’t like the first film because of its lack of plot and its repetitive nature. The Raid 2 proves that actually having a plot does not necessarily make a film better. – If I ever were to take over Indonesian organized crime I’d do two things. First close all the hardware stores and second bring guns. They’d have no weapons and the guns they have are useless as they are all crap at shooting them. – Indonesian Bruce Campbell exists!!! His name is Arifin Putra. Once you have dubbed him Indonesian Bruce Campbell you simply cannot see him any other way. – Gareth Evans is…

Darüber wie „The Raid 2“ meinen Körper in Besitz nahm. Mein Plan: Ich…

one of the greatest to ever do it. takes the concentrated perfection of the first film and amplifies it into a gargantuan epic with even more visceral bodily carnage. violence in the raid 2 ends up being the only pure and honest type of human interaction in a world mired in treachery, body against body, blow-by-blow. iko uwais has a mission to do, and as soon as it ends, so does he; everything else in between is an illusion. vitalism in motion.

ok so maybe the Oscars *won’t* be the most interminable precisely choreographed hell garbage I force myself to watch this week. why is the sequel to a film about people climbing a staircase about as clear as LAST YEAR AT MARIENBAD? listen, the athleticism and camera operating (which is also a display of athleticism) at work here is impressive beyond measure. the go-for-broke ambition is laudable, despite being completely unsupported by narrative purpose and ultimately leading to the film’s undoing. but this is AGONY. i can count on 4 imminently severed fingers the number of times in this movie i knew who was fighting who, on 3 fingers the times i knew where, and on the bloody stump where my…

The Raid 1 = Knives Out The Raid 2 = Glass Onion It’s familiar in design but larger in scale. The action pieces upheld the stellar choreography and brutality, and the stakes feel more important. However, the tight and simple nature of The Raid 1 will always stand out to me.

While this movie is bigger in every way compared to the original, I would also argue that other than the camerawork, it doesn’t do anything better than the original. What made the original so good was how claustrophobic it was, and an emphasis of action over plot. It was tight, concise, and easy to understand. The Raid 2 opts for a more complicated (though fairly paint by numbers) undercover cop plot, which consistently bogs down the film at every opportunity.…

These are the best action movies out there, the hand to hand combat and fight choreography is one of one, I prefer the first one, despite it’s far more simple story, the nonstop action in dark, cramped, small spaces made it perfect, just a bit more engaging and tense. They tried to sprawl it out here into a giant piece with many more characters, locations and a real story. The story is definitely a bit confusing as is trying to…

A Mind-Blowing Sequel. WOW. 🔥🔥 This Part also relies on Depth & World-Building along with it’s Exceptional Action Sequences. It is based basically on Organized Gang-Wars rather than Eliminating a High-Value Target like the First One. It’s about straight Revenge but also explores a little more Plot. Kudos to Iko Uwais 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻. I was Flabbergasted by watching how Greatly he performs Hand-to-Hand Action and Stunts. There’s a Damn Good Elevation of the scale of Action too in this one. It will…

takes the insanity of the first one and scales it up to a 2.5 hour ride of action movie greatness. may overstay it’s welcome, but certainly remains an impressive feat. one of the last movies i’d expect to see pegging in, though.

This movie has a lot more downtime between acting sequences than in the first movie which was essentially just one long fight scene. The trade off being The Raid 2 has a lot more substance when it comes to plot. It also just so happens to be wayyyyy more intense and violent than the first one. Class.

I like this overall less than the first one but parts of it I like waaay wayy more. Yay melodrama! If this was cut down by like 30-45 minutes it might’ve been my favorite martial arts movie. So much of it is so intentional and competently done it just feels meandering and bloated until the last hour. Trigger warning: the family assassin does die

Just as insane as the first time I saw it. Still to this day the only film that made me white knuckle it through a series of scenes and hold my breath; to the point when I finally let it out, I’ve never felt like I needed air that bad. The movie Evans originally wanted to make, thankfully on rewatch I caught more of the motivations and scheming much clearer. In terms of plot beats, not very original. The action…

Yes, it gets over ambitious at times. But when it works, it fucking works.

The plot was pretty much completely incomprehensible, and at one point there were 3 fights going on simultaneously, none of which I knew the purpose of. But my god the fights. Indonesians with knives are terrifying things, and with hammers maybe even more so.

How many secret mafias are there?? Also, which school of martial arts is the one that teaches you how to throw every item you come across? A definitive film in the “more doesn’t always mean better” genre. That’s not to say it was bad, the fights were still amazing!! It just felt quite bloated compared to the first film. Still a very enjoyable watch.

YEAAAA, that was still awesome, the car scene alone is worth the runtime. the first is more enjoyable, but this is far more polished. there’s so much here to love, but I’d still recommend one over two everytime.

I remember first hearing about this movie thinking “Wait, they made a sequel for The Raid? Oh it’s gotta be terrible!” This was my second time watching The Raid 2 and I can confidentally say that not only is it a really good movie but it’s even better than the first one. I might be wrong but it feels like The Raid 1 was almost a tech demo for the sequel. A shorter, simpler and cheaper movie to then get…

This one has more of a bigger plot to it than the first one, but honestly I felt it dragged way too long then it needed to at times. However, the action is why my mum and i were here and boy did it deliver well. The film being taken place outside of just one setting compared to the first one means you get many different action set pieces and they’re all just so *chef’s kiss* ESPECIALLY that last fight. I do think i prefer the 1st one purely because its stakes and continuous action.

Where the first film took place overnight and was a relentless sprint up a staircase, this movie is a sweeping, multi-layered descent into HELL. I’m watching this movie, right? Its unfolding before me, little by little. It doesn’t feel the same as The Raid… I’m thinking to myself it’s multi-layered, a little more complex, a “deeper”, more plot rich film. It unfolded slowly—I said to myself, this feels slower, weaker… a 3-star sequel. 20 minutes later… I’m feeling like—hey, this…

Now this is what I like to call a proper action film. I already found myself having a great time with this film’s predecessor and really wondered how The Raid 2 would possibly top it, ultimately I am of the belief that this film soars way above the original in every single aspect. Transforming from a claustrophic survival thriller into a sprawling and intricate crime syndicate saga while still maintaining the same sheer brutality and masterful combat choreography that makes…

The most-loved aspect of Raid, the excellent action, gets a similar execution here (sufficient for fans of the first movie to be content with this sequel) But in most, if not all, areas where there were attempts to take the scope of the movie to the next level and usurp part I, the movie loses some good essence of Raid with no particular benefit. I felt this with the increased duration, additional locations, plot (too basic to have so much screentime dedicated to it) and some of the new characters (the baseball guy and hammer girl were jarring characterisations for me)

It’s everything one could want in an action film. Hats off to the stuntmen here. Folks got hurt here, but the finished product was worth it. Gareth Evans writer director but most importantly editor. Absolutely sick editing. The fight in the kitchen with the hand scythes is brutally outstanding. Big shout out to Mad Dog. The Raid 2 goes as hard as the original and what in lacks in vintage martial arts traditions , it is cutting edge especially for 2011 and 2014 and bloody as hell. Makes John Wick look like Picnic at Hanging Rock.

Definitely a good one with a insane climax.. The whole film seems like an upgrade from the first one be it editing, cinematography, actual story. The straight up 10min fight sequence at last was a gem.

This film was entirely too long and tried doing something different from the first film (while retaining the main character). If you really enjoyed The Raid this is a different experience. It feels like it’s supposed to be a crime epic/revenge film and it just doesn’t land. The fight scenes are good but some are just too much (the prison fight scene in the mud soaked prison yard). It’s really nothing like the first film, you’ve been warned.

This film absolutely fucks. A deeper story than the first, with more refined action but not sacrificing the gritty, bone-crunching brutality that makes the first film so fantastic. The choreography is incredible, with each blow feeling deliberate yet lethal, as every kick, punch, smash, whack and slash lands with bloodied, frenzied ferocity. A spectacular sequel that manages to take everything to the next level, and one of the best action films you’re likely to ever see.

I loved the first one for it’s pure uncut action, plot be damned. This go around we get a bit too bogged down at times and lose some momentum. That being said the action here is a step up. A lot of claustrophobic fight scenes that seem impossible to film. The entire last 30 minutes or so is amazing stuff.
-
Е

Definetely took the scale of the first one to the sky. The plus one hour of runtime allowed more freedom with the cinematic aspects, besides the so expected action choreographies. And once again, THEY DO NOT DISAPPOINT. When they got to the prison I though the movie would stall for a bit. There wasn’t sufficient emotional connection to the first movie, but the thing with these movies is that, no matter what is the plot at the time, you can…

As enjoyable as the first movie still is, I think The Raid 2 has held up even better upon a rewatch. The sequel expands far beyond the scope of the original, going from one day in the life of an ill-fated police squad to a years-long crawl through the various locales of the Indonesian criminal underworld. The action sequences and fight choreography are still some of the absolute finest I’ve ever seen in any film (and again, far beyond the…

From such an action packed movie you would not expect themes of betrayal, loyalty and living up to the expectations of parents. But still it delivers. The Raid 2 is a great movie to watch, not just for its immaculate hands but also for its nuances.

Elite action! The muddy prison riot, the car chase, the hacking and slashing vicious kitchen climax fight and of course Hammer Girl going ham with those hammers on the subway(my favorite moment) were all epic and truly outstanding! The choreography and the fight scenes hands down exceeded the original! Many people seem to prefer this sequel because of the larger scope, more characters, more set pieces and the massive criminal underworld plot. Yeah that was all cool and probably needed…

If we consider the sheer amount of henchman cannon fodder as a reliable indicator of the job market for young men in The Raid’s Indonesia, that bathroom towel boy probably had to fight for his life to land a regular ass job for once. I would arrestingly upset that we’ve only gotten to see Rama twice, but if the Lord had it the same with his only son, I’ll choose to be grateful that he ever graced our screens at all.

J
Absolute white knuckle tension the entire way through. Incredible stunts, choreography, set pieces and effects. It was such a smart narrative decision to strip the whole focus down to one character – following Rama’s struggle to get out of the undercover quagmire. The stakes and the tension always remain high, even until the very end. And Arifin Putra plays such a magnetically slimy villain. Put him in more movies. I don’t know, I might argue this is even better than the first one.

Violently oscilates between expectedly virtuosic action seqeunces and tubi original-quality expository scenes. Shockingly unrefined script and edit (2.5 hours and still manages to completely lose hold of multiple narrative threads), but man if it didn’t get the boys fired up a few times. if movies were JUST about showing fights, i would say unreservedly this is the best movie i’ve ever seen in my life. yes it’s diluted with a tropey story that i simply cannot care about, and they completely abandon the great premise that they set up at the end of raid 1–alien³-style. it’s almost not a sequel–just another movie by the same people, with multiple days and locations and CARS. the sum of the fights is monumental. that character is Mad Dog. he came back. i don’t care what anyone says. and he’s NOT dead at the end of this. can’t be killed. 👨⚖️

Very brutal, very intense! Had an excellent time. Part 2 of a Raid double feature!

The Raid 2 is bigger in every way and I respect that. Don’t tease me with an even bigger-er time should The Raid 3 come to pass, Gareth Evans.

Well they broke The Raid. It’s no longer a raid and there is way too much going on. Why does this movie have a plot? The first one had hints of story throughout whereas this is forced exposition. Don’t get me wrong I love the martial arts work and the club scene is particularly fun. When in doubt, don’t over complicate a martial arts movie and always recast Master Yayan.

Still an incredible film, but I think the pacing could be a tiny bit better. The action is still awesome and a spectacle to watch. The oners throughout were really impressive as well.

This was another attempt by the same girl to lure me to her house, and once again completely backfired God that bit where he wipes the knife on the guys shoulder is the horniest thing I’ve ever seen

Action film, two hours and a half. Not really my kind, but has several over-the-top fighting scenes.
