Thanks to Mr Vizzini, I’ve learned a new word: “inconceivable”. I used it earlier when Mrs Bird told me the marmalade cupboard was empty.

7-Year Old Me: This is the best story I’ve ever seen! I love fairytales. 14-Year Old Me: This is the best piss-take I’ve ever seen! I too, hate fairytales. 20-Year Old Me: This is the best meta-post-modern actioner-adventure-comedy-romance-with a wink I’ve ever seen! I love fourth wall breaking. 24-Year Old Me: Wallace Shawn is the funniest person to exist *ever* and should only be treated as such. Oh my God that’s Peter Falk. Oh, and this just might be the best movie I’ve ever seen. I love it. It’s perfect. I love movies. A lovely send-off to a less-than lovely year. Happy New Year folks!

Fantastic classic! Always a great rewatch and stands tall in the modern film world as a true love story of the ages. The characters are beautifully unique and well written. An incredibly entertaining comedy aspect that floods the film with its feel good nature, whilst also retaining its Shakespearean love and adventure style tale. Must watch and fall all ages!

Grew up on this movie; watched it again a few months ago and still loved it. Such a funny ass movie honestly while still being able to keep a believable traditional fantasy hero’s journey.

One of the best films ever made period, i can rewatch this multiple times a year and still feel the joy and whimsy as if i were watching it for the first time. Adventure, Action, romance, comedy AND DEATH….AND NEVER BET WITH A SICILIAN WHEN DEATHS ON THE LINE… INCONCEIVABLE!!!

“As you wish” was all he ever said to her. That day, she was amazed to discover that when he was saying “As you wish,” what he meant was, “I love you.” this might simply be one of the best movies ever made

Genuinely a great movie from start to finish. Why did i hold off watching this movie for so long? Brilliant acting and humor, engaging characters and strong chemistry, riveting plot, and a well-told story. It’s so good that i can literally recommend this movie to anyone. Undoubtedly timeless.

Pure childish imagination … with joy & whimsy so strong— that it bridges the disconnect of the generational gap . It’s crazy how infectiously goofy , clever and witty it is . Cary Elwes plays the perfect Robin Hood-esq character … how fitting he played him just years later . Haven’t seen this in a long time , and reminds me a lot of “ A Kid in King Arthur’s Court “

I adore every single thing about this movie. No words!

T
i know blasphemous but this movie is so annoying and exhausting. We had to watch it so many times in high school and everyone felt so quirky quoting it nonstop. the movie itself, without the cult following and pop culture impact has its charms but its also just so boring to me

inigo and fezzik carried so hard. dialogue was peak. they were vocal stimming all over the place. BUT WHY WAS BUTTERCUP SO USELESS. when that sewer rat thing started attacking westley all she did was stand there… sword was literally there.. and she only hit it when it got to her feet. for being true love she surely did not do shit to preserve it and her trump card was killing herself like boy 😭😭😭😭

MY NAME IS INDIGO MONTOYA. YOU KILLED MY FATHER. PREPARE TO DIE. ★彡 I totally forgot this movie is a story that a grandfather is telling his sick grandson ★彡 “is this a kissing book” ★彡 “murdered by pirates is good!” ★彡 “I’ve hired you to help me start a war. It’s a prestigious line of work” ★彡 I’m sorry, this man is climbing up a cliff with two other men and a woman on his hip while also only…

Perfect comfort watch. Hadn’t seen this in a while and I forgot how TIGHT the pacing is. Love this movie.

Felt like I hadn’t seen this in over a decade but my logged history on Letterboxd said otherwise. Enjoyed this a lot. So nostalgic for this movie, it really does fly by quick. It’s such a silly flick played surprisingly seriously. Favorite moments were between the grandson and grandpa.

6/10 – I thought I liked this movie more than I did. Watching it outdoors was a fun time, but halfway through I was just bored. Very quotable, certainly, but just doesn’t live up to the hype around it. This movie was PACKED, and so many people love it. Something tells me that love is based around more nostalgia than substance. What am I missing?
-
B
This was one of my mom’s favorite movies growing up. It wasn’t a throwaway, background movie either. She sat and consumed it every time we watched. Laughing and repeating her favorite lines. When I watch it now, the memory of me glancing at her every time she laughed or recited some dialogue is all I can think of. This movie puts me in such a good mood and I hope it always will. I love you mom! 🫶🏾

cool quote: Offer me money. Yes! Power, too, promise me that. All that I have and more. Please… Offer me anything I ask for. Anything you want… I want my father back, you son of a I can’t compete with you physically, and you’re no match for my brains. You’re that smart? Let me put it this way. Have you ever heard of Plato, Aristotle, Socrates? Yes. Morons. i think i just went in with too high of expectations coming into this and found it silly, still was really funny at times
-
T
Always a fantastic watch. I really think there’s something to be said about “elevated” genre movies or movies that fit within a genre that are able to push the boundaries of what’s within that. Idk, this is just an awesome movie Girlfriend Score: 3/5
-
C
*whipped

E
Everyone talks about the sword fights. I’m thinking about “as you wish.” The perfect reminder that love can be ridiculous, dramatic and still completely sincere. A fairy tale for people who think fairy tales are a little bit ridiculous. A film that understands that the most romantic thing isn’t perfection. It’s persistence. True love, but with significantly more fencing.
-
D
Watched this for the first time in British Council cus it was our teachers (Michelle, she gave me straight A’s man i miss her) fav film growing up. That toturing sequence scared 9 year old me 😭. Gave it 4 stars mainly for Nostalgia
