Synopsis

The true story of pianist Władysław Szpilman's experiences in Warsaw during the Nazi occupation. When the Jews of the city find themselves forced into a ghetto, Szpilman finds work playing in a café; and when his family is deported in 1942, he stays behind, works for a while as a laborer, and eventually goes into hiding in the ruins of the war-torn city.

3 Reasons why Roman Polanski needs a hearty kick in the balls. 1. His globe trotting antics may protect him from US jurisdiction but no amount of border hopping will protect him from a hearty kick in the balls. 2. He’s an absolute scumbag who has done some of the most horrible things anyone in the film industry has ever done, the only way he can learn is with a hearty kick in the balls. 3. He made The Pianist, one of the most important, moving, and incredible works of art of the 2000’s but since he’s a gross little gremlin man he’s tainted the legacy of not only this film but also the HNA’s (Hollywood Nose Association’s) president, Adrien Brody’s finest performance. And he definitely deserves a hearty kick in the balls for that.

Definitely one of the best holocaust movies out there. Adrien Brody’s nuanced and gaunt performance left me speechless and still makes me feel that way. The impressive set design and passionately-acted extras show that The Pianist isn’t hesitant to bring up the brutal sufferings of innocent lives. Yet, it does this in a powerful and purposeful way, and not for the sake of a cheap thrill for the audience. Władysław Szpilman was not a hero nor a fighter, but a survivor. Only luck could have saved him, and conveying this truth is what makes the film feel believable and realistic. Although it may take a toll on your spirit, it’s worth the sacrifice. This true story of the talented Polish pianist is emotionally-draining, heartbreaking, but best of all, inspiring.

Wladek Szpilman was not a hero. He’s just a pianist. When the Germans invaded his country. He hid. He had to hide. He’s just a pianist. They were trying to kill him. He did not understand why. He did nothing wrong. He’s just a pianist. He watched as everyone around him got murdered. What could he do? He couldn’t fight. He’s just a pianist. Wladek knew he had to survive. He looked for food. He looked for shelter. He begged for help. He wept alone. Wladek Spzilman was not a hero. He’s just a pianist.

There’s this scene in which he imagines to play the piano with his fingers 3 centimetres over the keyboard that just goes beyond perfection. And that’s all I can say at the moment, since this movie really fucked me up

first off, FUCK YOU POLANSKI! second, adrien brody, up to this day, holds the record for being the youngest actor to win the coveted Best Actor Oscar award and may i just say he’s really worthy of it. that scene where Szpilman played the “Ballade in G minor”, one of the most beautiful and moving scenes i’ve ever heard and seen in a film. lastly, again, FUCK YOU POLANSKI!

What do you call a Jew behind a piano? No? A pianist you racist bastard. Adrian Brody should have this on constant repeat to remind him how astonishing an actor he can be. Stunning music, sober direction, a devastatingly human protagonist all make for a gripping and draining war time drama.

Wow, Adrian Brody, what a performance. Specifically the last 3rd, where he is isolated, starving, and desperate he gives an absurdly convincing performance. Make-up and costuming did a great job as well, looked so gruesome and emaciated you really feel as if he were there. As for the story. It’s good. It’s not amazing, and at times is somewhat repetitive. It kind of just followed the path of: a new situation emerges in which gives Brody hope for safety and…

I love watching war movies, especially ones set during World War II, because they always make me think about how lucky we are to have been born in a time and place where we don’t have to experience anything like that. The pain and anger those families must have gone through is almost impossible to…

That moment when he played for the German with such emotion, emotion that had been hidden for years, and necessity, necessity that he only knew once he had touched the piano he couldn’t play at the apartment he had to stay silent at, that the German just knew. Music is such a special form of art and this film shows that entirely.

Except for that roman polanski is an absolute helmet this is a really incredible film and the way it captured the tragedy of ww2 was unlike anything i’ve seen before in a film i really felt something when all of those people were killed, Adrian brody gave the performance of a lifetime and the tragic elements of this film is something that will stick with me forever

The way music and noise is used as a source of freedom against oppression is really great. I think this movie perfectly demonstrates what the decline into genocide looks like: Warsaw didn’t immediately grab every Jewish person and kill them, after the Nazis took power. I also really appreciated the details of the small to huge moments of power people take against each other, especially those also being oppressed. Whether it’s two low-ranking soldiers forcing disabled people to dance to…

So the music saved him It’s fabulous how we connect through something beautiful, passionate like music When u think about human nature Like Victor Hugo once said the relationship between music, art, architecture, and human expression is fascinating. When you play music it shapes you It identifies who are you How you feel, how you think It shapes the soul In the movie the big question is What make us humans? After losing everything It’s about music vs violence And in…

After watching “Carnage” by Polanski yesterday, I decided it was finally time to make up for the fact that I still hadn’t seen “The Pianist”. I went into it with very high expectations, and I’m happy to say that they were met. Adrien Brody’s performance is absolutely devastating. His physical transformation and the way he gradually becomes more and more exhausted make Szpilman’s suffering feel painfully real. I completely understand why he has said that the role haunted him for…

Watching the Pianist is a difficult process because at each and every step Wladyslaw’s life goes from bad to worse and yet he is one of the luckiest character’s ever in this type of movies. This movie is a minor masterpiece and I believe that its the best that could be done with the story of this man. Also Obviously…
