Decided to finally watch this. Figured I’d bite the bullet and take on the extended edition, too. I’m glad I did! The world building is dense and the character arcs are very satisfying. I know Peter Jackson has said that the theatrical cuts are paced better but speaking as a newbie to the world of Middle Earth, I found this very engaging all throughout its 3 hour + runtime. My jaw was on the floor during some of the action…

One of if not the greatest opening to a trilogy of all time. This is something that i don’t think can ever be replicated no matter how hard they try. Even just the prologue somehow gives you everything you need to know without spoiling or ruining any part of the films to come. It also gives you so many questions to keep you engaged with every minute. Cinema and practical effects lowkey peaked in these years.

Clicked on this knowing nothing besides “there’s a ring”. But this one takes it’s sweet fucking time establishing the world, the history, and the characters plus the pacing is slow but in a good way I think.. I can’t even be mad tho like the world-building is so insanely detailed with some practical effects that still holds up, and the music fucking slaps too. I also love how every location feels so distinct I mean like how you get that…

One of the greatest blockbusters I’ve ever seen. Really leaves that lasting impression of wow after watching. Characters that actually have depth and purpose, a soundtrack that really amplifies the sequences and atmosphere, and impeccable storytelling that captivates you for the entire 3 hours. Absolute high risk, high reward campaign that just gradually gets more hazardous. Incredible use of color grading that genuinely feels authentic to each ecoregion— it’s crafted so well, all of it. I cannot fathom how late I am to this.

A masterclass in worldbuilding. I can watch this movie over and over again and it will never cease to amaze me. From the idyllic prologue, to Gandalf revealing the burning hatred of Sauron, the innocence of the shire is quickly interrupted by a dread and anticipation that continually builds. The naivety of the hobbits at the onset turns a deadly mission into a fantastical adventure. The most comforting aspect is the clear distinction between the good guys and the evil…

I don’t know why it took me like three or four tries to get through this it’s such a fun watch and looks great. these reviews might be a bit off, but that may be because I saw all three parts’ extended editions in a row. there wasn’t much I remembered in the four hour run of the first part because (I know this might sound a little crazy), it felt a little too fast. aside from that, I thought it was still good overall

it is honest to god the longest thing you will ever watch in your life I felt this deserved another shot. it sure is epic and the storyline is really vast and interesting. the world building is strong, the cast of characters are developed really well. it really is a classic for a reason, I just feel like the extended versions are just unnecessarily looonggggggg – like why did it feel like I just embarked on this journey with them??…

So Pippin just killed Gandalf?? — Hot take: this movie is good, haha. So, obviously I grew up hearing a lot about— say, Tolkien, his obsession with world mythology (specifically Norse), with making up a language, with hating a certain band who lived next to him. Also the kinds of fans these movies have. So, I had certain expectations going in. I think this movie is pretty good, fun, and it has a lot of heart. Frodo’s Odyssey. I’m guessing…

things i really like about this movie: – Bilbo baggins’ chaotic hosting style (he is me) – Bilbo baggins’ flair for the dramatic (me again) – Bilbo baggins jump scaring the everloving shit out of his nephew (one day) – Bilbo baggins throwing himself a banger of a birthday party (i’m really close on this one)

154. E

     Ethan Dyck 2026

So beyond peak it’s immeasurable. There is so much to say about this piece of cinema, it’s absurd, and yet, I’m sure it’s already been said. Then again, that’s never stopped me before, so here we go. Let’s start with the scenery. Hobbiton is so gorgeous in such a quaint way, it goes along with the character of the Hobbits introduced to us by Tolkien and Jackson so well. It doesn’t feel overwhelming, and without pun intended, it’s very down…

Yeah yeah I know I’m late to the party. Was expecting to be disappointed due to not being the biggest fantasy fan (which is due to just not being exposed to the genre a lot growing up and is subject to change), but this lives up to the hype. Sam has gotta be one of the realest homies in fiction. Can’t wait to watch The Two Towers.
