My hot take here is that I think Ed Norton is actually pretty good as Bruce Banner? The big miss here is not making the movie an actual origin story. Hard to buy into the character and his relationships without knowing more about who he was prior to the big accident. Despite this, kind of wish The Incredible Hulk wasn’t shoved into a drawer by the MCU because another movie could have been good? Ep. 2- Journey into the MCU: The Incredible Hulk (Patreon Exclusive)

It’s baffling to me that this movie isn’t as loved and respected as other comic book movies. Something about this movie is so corny to me. The CGI looks really bad, it feels all over the place and at the same time it feels lacking of more. It wants to be something it isn’t. Abomination has a great into and so does Mr. Blue later being The Leader. Apart from that the movie is boring and bad.

I do think I prefer the newer actor for hulk over this one – although this one is also a very good actor. I kind of like the Jason Bourne-style beginning and I guess the concept of a superhero film that feels like a political thriller. But other than that, this is really weak — it’s tonally akimbo, the main female character is poorly written, and the CGI is pretty mediocre. MCU #2

I really like Ed Norton as Banner, but my god the pacing in this is SO off😭 I don’t even have any many other major issues with the film but the pacing is weird as fuck; does it take place over a week or a month or several months? Who’s to say! Was also a little weird that you don’t even actually see Blonsky as Abomination (supposedly the main villain) until 20 minutes before the end. Final fight is anticlimactic too. Overall I don’t hate it as much as other people do, but certainly worse than a majority of the films which came before it.

Maybe I came in too jaded but I just find Hulk so uninteresting it just never feels like Bruce’s character can never evolve past the same struggle. Truly this film doesn’t help that argument at all it, feels uninteresting and paper thin. It’s also devastatingly ugly, truly the definition of ps3 graphics

Really liked this version of The Incredible Hulk. Yes, it has pacing issues, a somewhat one-dimensional character arc for Bruce Banner, and a few inconsistencies. But here, the Hulk actually felt like a raging monster rather than just another superhero. The film showed how the Hulk was born from a failed scientific experiment and how that incident completely disrupted Bruce Banner’s life. The final battle between Hulk and Abomination is still the best Hulk fight in the MCU to date. 💥 The tone was also noticeably darker and more mature than most other MCU films. Honestly, one of the most overhated MCU films.
