surprisingly one of my favorites in the franchise, and unsurprisingly it has a lot to do with charlize theron and how much weight she easily brings to her character, instantly solidifying her as the best villain in the series so far. tonally this goes to some dark and overdramatic places but it’s also the funniest with a shakespearean plot that kept me more invested than ever before. also i still love it when the cars go fast. no more big thoughts, only fast

I understand completely why people don’t love this one- it’s kind of a mess structurally, and even within the soap opera-ness of this series it’s just soooo soapy it feels like too much. Not bad. The plot initially feels massively flawed with the reintroduction of both the Shaws, especially the one who fell off a plane and somehow survived, which seems to be a trend in these movies. Charlize Theron’s villain was well portrayed and the action is the best of all the FnF movies, highlighted by the prison break choreography. But it feels now (and maybe the last few too, but especially this one) that this is a completely different group of movies to the first few where they were simply slightly crooked street racers. This is still a good movie, but again, it’s at such a large scale that I spent the whole time wishing they weren’t fighting for nuclear launch codes. I still really liked it and thought it was super cool, I just couldn’t help thinking it. Especially after just rewatching the first one. My biggest worry was how they were going to handle the future of Bryan and Mia in the franchise, and I think they did it pretty well.

Jason Tatane Supremacy !!! Les piques entre lui et Dwayne Johnson sont clairement la qualité principale du film (avec le climax et la séquence des voitures zombies bien sûr). Bon, loin d’être mon préféré, Fast and Furious 8 reste un super film d’action. On continue de s’éloigner de la dynamique des premiers films de la saga mais si on le prend à part, c’est un bon film. De belles scènes d’actions et encore de superbes scènes spectaculaires. Le casting est florissant avec des grands noms de Hollywood. Le scénario est bon, il y a des surprises, des rebondissements, des scènes poignantes. Néanmoins voilà, ça vire trop vers le film bourré de super gadgets, d’ordinateurs ultra intelligents. C’est sympa hein mais je sais pas peut-être un peu too much à mon goût. Mais sinon c’est correct sur l’ensemble.

This is entertaining but like that’s really it. All the characters felt mischaracterize and the plot was just eh. Also the fact that they killed off Elena which makes it so easier for Letty and Dom to now make a family with Brian(the baby) is really just crazy to me.
