Starring: The Bold, Bald, Gruff Action Man Jason Statham After hearing about it and seeing a few seconds of it a while back, I finally get around to see this action saga in which some of the greatest action heroes and villains of the 1980s square off against each other. And sure, I mean, the picture is not objectively good at all, and it’s one of those movies where you can tell there’s a lot of wasted potential; nevertheless, I also cannot say that I was not entertained. Stallone and Statham work well together; their partnership has the air of two action heroes, action stars from two generations, working together for the greater good. I also enjoy the insider references…

Well, that was certainly an action movie. 😂 I’ve always heard of this series, and told myself I’d eventually check it out. Next thing I know there are FOUR of them. Wtf?! So I said screw it, and picked up this one from the library. I had just finished the Rambo series, and I enjoyed it. Which kind of suprised me, because I’m not a big action movie guy. Don’t get me wrong, I enjoy them for the most part, but I was honestly suprised by just how much I liked Rambo. So I thought Expendables kind of looks like Rambo + EVERYONE ELSE. 🤣 And yeah, what a loaded cast. The wrestling fan in me definitely marked out a…

🔪🏀“Next time, I’ll deflate ALL your balls, friend.” A dumb testosterone-fuelled vanity project from Stallone that I couldn’t help but love❤️🔥. I just like to see action stars kill a shit ton of people😵. Also, Jason Statham plays a guy called Lee Christmas🎄. Icon. I spent the whole movie giggling at Sly’s godawful dye job🤭. Insane how much of this is underlit, cut to shit and digital looking. The only possible explanation is that somewhere between Rambo 4 (which is still one of the stickiest, most effectively sadistic films of his career) and this Stallone hit himself on the head very hard and forgot the basic building blocks of action directing. I do like briefly hanging out with my boys Dolph and Mickey though.

There’s one scene where Bruce Willis and Sylvester Stallone are talking for about five minutes and Bruce tells Sylvester exactly what he needs from him and then Sylvester ends the conversation by saying “let’s talk” and I think that’s brilliant writing. Mickey Rourke had absolutely no business going so hard with that emotional monologue.

An old school action extravaganza, one that entertains with its kickass ensemble and heavy nostalgic feel. The scene featuring Sylvester Stallone along with the cameos of Arnold Schwarzenegger n Bruce Willis gives an inexplicable excitement. The charm of its cast in Jason Stathom, Jet Li, Terry Crews, Dolph Lendgren, Randy Couture and Steve Austin carry enough awe factor and deliver the fun you look out for. While the action sequences are over the top n bombastic, they send you through a rush of adrenaline. Despite of the lack of story and uneven screenplay, it is still watchable for the explosive adventure.

This movie is fun, I got real exited when Sylvester, Arnold, and Bruce were all in the same scene. The action is pretty good, bit too much shakey cam and cgi blood but I’m glad they went with an R rating. I think my favorite scene was with Jet Lee and Dolph Lundgren. It’s worth a watch.

Testosterone the movie. Very silly. Utter nonsense to the highest degree. Perfect action flick though if you want to shut down and just have a good time. With a cast stacked to the gills with the who’s who of action stars there’s something here for everyone no matter your taste in action cinema. I wish Stallone had a larger presence as he is my draw for the movie. Rourke is a low point in the cast he just isn’t believable.…

peaked early when bruce willis boldly suggested that stallone and schwarzenegger were gonna 69 in church. although the guilt monologue was way better than it had any right to be. the rest of it just falls prey to the modern action trend of constantly cutting on impact with shaky angles and barely any time to breathe. movies are all about manipulating time man! mess with it a little! and there’s not really a whole lot to make up for it. kinda feels like it’s preheating for the inevitable sequel, which i can only hope will pop off with more money and more star power/bigger egos

Watched On: DVD This movie is a beautiful mess. Every single dialogue scene is the most awkward thing ever, especially Arnold’s cameo. But something about the awkwardness makes it charming. I think it might be Sylvester Stallone. Then every action scene is the most over the top thing ever. It all comes together to create this movie which isn’t exactly “well made” per se but I wouldn’t have it any other way.

A classic dumb fun action movie with ridiculous explosions, brutal kills, and some hilariously cheesy dialogue. It has that perfect late night TV movie feeling where you just sit back and enjoy the chaos. The action is entertaining, but the movie takes itself way too seriously for how ridiculous some of the scenes and one-liners are. Overall, a 3/5 for me, a fun and ridiculously over the top action flick, even if it’s nowhere near as cool as it thinks it is.

قصة مؤثرة جداً وإخراج عظيم واداء عظيم ، هذا ما احتاجه سيلفيستر ستالون ليجعل الفيلم عالقاً في الذاكرة بلا نسيان . A deeply moving story, great direction, and a brilliant performance; this was what Sylvester Stallone needed to make the movie unforgettable, memorable forever.

So divorced-boomer-dad-going-through-a-midlife-crisis coded. These badass mercenaries ride Harleys, drink beer, and fly an antique bomber to get around. Jason Statham is in an “it’s complicated” relationship with someone 20 years his junior, and Sylvester Stallone get to find his soul by saving a woman who could have been his daughter. Unironically uses The Boys are Back in Town as the credits music. Good enough as a proof-of-concept for the idea of an action star supergroup movie, but not much else.…

A Fun, Nostalgic, and Action-Packed Celebration—A Dream Come True for Genre Fans! In 2010, Sylvester Stallone did what every action fan had been dreaming of for decades: he assembled legendary cinema icons from the ’80s and ’90s for one wild movie. “The Expendables” is a explosive, atmosphere-heavy love letter to the golden era of classic action heroes. What Works? A Historic Dream Cast: Seeing Sylvester Stallone, Jason Statham, Jet Li, and Dolph Lundgren on screen together, alongside iconic cameos from…

The Expendables isn’t open to argument. It represents a late-career victory lap for a filmmaker embracing his golden years with unwavering confidence, transforming a setting sun into something bright and revitalizing. At its heart, the movie is a blend of stoic pride, self-aware humor, and lingering nostalgia. Gathering an ensemble cast of legendary physical performers, Stallone builds an Avengers-style assembly dedicated to the dying art of practical, pre-CGI action. Aging remains the central, throbbing nerve of this relentless blockbuster, which…

Every scene in this movie, summed up: Big White Guy 1: Hey hot dick, you gonna keep jerking off or you gonna come smoke this cigar? Big White Guy 2: Oi, you gonna suck my dick, or do I have to come over there and rip your balls off? Hot Girl with Boobs: I have boobs And then a 20 minute fight scene

‘The Expendables’ is a fun, but imperfect film. Full of action and less-than-stellar amount of digital blood, this homage to 80s (and some 90s) action movies has enough excitement and character that it is entertaining for the hour and 30 minute run time. Following basically all your favorite old school action heroes on an adventure to free a small secluded island nation, we watch the gang battle and shoot their way through an army of seemingly infinite bad guys, and…
