La historia se centra en el problema moral de la falsificación y la supervivencia, y mientras la ves te preguntas: Si estuvieras en un campo de concentración y la única forma de seguir vivo fuera colaborar, ¿qué harías? O quizá la pregunta más precisa es otra: si sobrevivieras, ¿podrías vivir en paz con la decisión que tomaste para lograrlo?. La película es interesante, pero también sentí que le faltó profundizar un poco más en algunos personajes y situaciones. Me hubiera gustado conocerlos mejor y tener más contexto de ciertas cosas para conectar más con la historia y que algunos momentos me pegaran más. A lot of World War II films, especially Holocaust films specifically, run the risk of being too formulaic. There have already been fantastic movies about these subjects, and it’s hard to reinvent the wheel. This film tries by making it about a specific Nazi operation, but the film seems less interested in exploring the actual history of Nazi counterfeiting and spends most of its runtime documenting harsh concentration camp conditions and Nazi brutality. Смотрится на одном дыхании, и, несмотря на мрак и жестокость лагерной жизни, оказалось довольно жизнеутверждающим кино. It would have been so much more effective if they had spent more time detailing the operational aspects of the Operation instead of the evil Nazi stuff, which is a given and understood in any case.

It is definitely one of my favourite war movies along with Come and See and All Quiet on the Western Front. Done very tastefully, the violence was implied but still suffocating. The question of survival and the heavy moral dilemma were brilliantly executed. The ping pong scene was excellent, the very core of the film. I was unaware that the Holocaust survivor Adolf Burger wrote the book on which the movie was based. Would love to read it. On another note, it was good to see August Diehl playing something other than an SS officer.

Narrativamente me parece más potente que en ejecución, pues en ese sentido me transmitió un poco de vibras de telefilm. Pero sus cimientos de supervivencia me resultan un punto de partida muy intrigante, dado que no conocía la historia real. Y aunque esto existe en un contexto histórico de guerra, creo que es algo que, en mayor o menor medida, se sigue y se seguirá suscitando por cadenas de poder, parecido al experimento de la cárcel de Stanford o en cualquier situación de mando, laboral o de cualquier índole, en la que se siguen órdenes para evitar una afectación propia.

Good movie about the ww2 and how a talented jew man tries to survive in a concentration camp. The movie has very well achieved scenes and cinematography with a notorius symetry that decorate the ending. Also the main characters are nice and i love how they clash in ideological features showing how some peolpe priorities is their political and morality ideas and others one priorities are just survive to live another day. And in conclusion it shows how important is money in our society and the form in which it can be more important that lifes and the power that it has.

The actors’ performances were excellent, especially for August Diehl’s role as Burger (totally not biased). However, the movie couldn’t be as great as it potentially could have been since it is quite short to embrace all the problems. As a matter of fact, some scenes were too lengthy and boring, while others were too rushed and lacked soul, and there were some questionable camera angles. Still, it’s a good movie and it’s worth giving it a try

markovics (the main actor) barely speaks for this entire film and conveys so much with his face alone, which is wildly impressive. the acting carries this; with a worse cast, this would’ve been a weaker film. as it is, i’d call it a fairly straightforward telling which is occasionally very impactful. desperately need to read a book about the real history now

Until other Jewish people broke the camp wall, I felt the film was only a crime version of Schindler’s List. I was wrong; this is a unique and powerful film.

Very hard movie- markovics performance was balanced between tiptoing a moral line and suppressing his real feelings. I wanted to empathize with him in the end but I think he ultimately fell on the more selfish side of the line. Incredible topic for a film and also a true story.

I’ve now watched two things in the past month with a guy named burger. A lot differed to the operation Bernhard wiki – realistically for thematic reasons – and now I want to read the book. Would probably recommend.

Sentimento de dor e tristeza quando assisti esse filme. Possa ser difícil encontrar pra assistir atualmente mas recomendo assistir porque visitar o passado para impedir conflitos terríveis que acarretaram em um dos milhares de eventos durante a segunda guerra é necessário, que esse horror jamais se repita, nunca deveria ter acontecido. Possui ótimas atuações, fotografia de cores por grande parte frias/cinza, trama imersiva.
