my wife and i have a theater called the orpheum that we only go to in very specific circumstances. the presentation at this theater is always bad. the screens are scratched up and relatively small, and the projection is often framed so poorly that the bottom edge of the image will be splayed across the first few rows of seats. but since this theater is convenient to get to, we only go there when we want to see something that we don’t expect to be actually good. something where we don’t care if the presentation is bad. something dumb, worthless, but entertaining enough to spend an evening on. the beekeeper is the textbook example of an orpheum banger. beyond idiotic, meritless as a work of art, but i cackled the whole way through. see this at your local orpheum.

This movie fucking sucks and I love it. Make no mistake, The Beekeeper is very silly and to be clear, objectively bad and not taken seriously by anyone (including myself). Yet I can’t help myself but be greatly intrigued by this sort of sheer and utter bizarreness that I can’t stop thinking about. Something about this film FASCINATES me. The film starts off pretty standard with a promising revenge plot set up in the first 10 minutes, but seems to escalate faster than any film I’ve EVER SEEN. The film speeds on so quickly the pacing is basically nonexistent, which results in the final act taking place the VERY SCENE AFTER the plot was established? This left me quite baffled, because only…

“To Bee… or not to Bee?” *Dramatic pause* “To Bee.” *Statham kills twenty dudes* Ah, yes. The perfect January theatrical experience. Basically, a DTV action film slathered in mid-budget panache, taken deadly seriously and executed efficiently. Does it have every single character talk in Beekeeper metaphors? Yes. And I love it. Like a modern-day DTV action film, the star’s on-screen time is surprisingly slight (Was Statham busy?), but that means Mr. Bee is like the shark from JAWS, only showing up to munch on some baddies, while the rest of the time is padded out with the cops on his tail (Fine) and the villains trying to get him (A great Jeremy Irons). None of the action scenes are very…

The uninitiated may see this as simply another bee-grade action flick with cheap thrills and corny one-liners, but there are layers to this comb. This is a movie that begs society to bee all it can bee. It goes down sweet like honey, but with quite a sting. Beelieve the buzz: The Beekeeper will bee kicking some serious ass. Why? It bees like that sometimes.

Here’s the beautiful thing about David Ayer’s “The Beekeeper,” which is essentially a “John Wick” ripoff starring Jason Statham as a former top-secret government assassin who violently unretires after someone kills his bees: If for some twisted reason you showed me this movie right after I’d woken up from a 10-year coma and told me it was opening in theaters that Friday, I might not have any idea what year I was in, but I would know — within five minutes, and beyond a shadow of a doubt — that it was the second weekend of January. Too silly for late August, too memorable for streaming (Statham only has about 12 lines in this film, and one of them is…

43 Every scene with the annoying FBI buddy cop routine had me eager to press fast forward, but Josh Hutcherson’s performance as a sleazy crypto nepo baby kept me genuinely engrossed. It’s fun to watch Jason Statham climb up the ranks and battle different waves of swat units and paramilitary dudes. Average night out at the movies.

As an actual beekeeper I despise this movie. It is an offence to nature, cinema, the medium of storytelling, and the very concept of bees.
-
B
Molto scialbo e piatto, classico film con azione su azione neanche di livello così elevato,e il protagonista inizia e continua a combattere spinto dalla vendetta e da una morale

I know he throws jars at honey at some baddies at one point but I was really looking forward to more BEE-related vengeance. I don’t know. Maybe a scene where he’s molding honey into bullet shapes that he later unleashes on his enemies?

I film che mi fa vedere mio padre per darmi giusti insegnamenti nella vita:non fidarti di nessuno e soprattutto non fidarti della legge, non avere amici, non parlare con nessuno. Non voglio esprimere pareri sul film. Viva i momenti padre-figlia!!

8.5 “I need to take care of the hive. The hive is more important.” This was such an action packed, thrilling and funny film which was just so wasy to watch. Watching the beekeeper story and path to vengeance just had me glued to the screen and was just so interesting.

You decide who you work for. For the law or for justice. The Beekeeper is a Jason Statham action thriller that doesn’t really care about realism. The movie knows its premise is absurd and embraces that as part of the fun. There are plenty of scenes that are completely over-the-top from a logical standpoint, but Statham delivers them with such a straight face that it somehow makes everything even more entertaining.

Sinceramente pensavo molto peggio.

the kind of movie you would watch after binge-watching five thrillers and need a fresh break good enough

Watched with family, very nice film. Has the recipe of any action movie similar to John wick but also with a charismatic mix into it, with a more human understanding behind the chaotic motives. Jason Statham introduces himself amazingly in this movie like always with fascinating acting like no other. I love it, but please do not watch this with children around my lord they will get disgusted.

A parody without the laughs, but it’s still strangely endearing. Ayer is a terrible director, but he definitely understands how accentuate stunt work.

First Stratham flick I’ve seen. Solid enough action flick but hampered by too much bloat and not as outrageous as it wants to be, especially given how it throws in OTT comic-style characters in for two of it’s big action sequences. Should have given Jeremy Irons more scenery to chew too tbh.

You can clearly tell that this movie was released in the year 2024, by the constant reminder of crypto, nfts and Jason Shatalamaya having six or seven lines during the course of the entire movie. One of the bad guys says “if a beekeeper says that you will die, you’ll die”, and this is true, people do indeed die in the movie. The beekeepers are a secret service agency thingy that behaves like the CIA back in the 60s but…

Slightly above average direct to streaming movie. Disappointing in some ways while also exceeding other expectations. Wish they had a better writer to clean up the bland dialogue. The camera work and stunts were pretty awesome, however. Decent time overall.

Jason Statham doing as Jason Statham does. Just like Dwayne Johnson, he plays the same exact character in every single movie. It’s boring. The acting in this was subpar, the action was basic and choreographed, and the plot predictable asf. “This is peak Jason Statham” don’t you ever lie to me again

Aight movie but we have to admit the beekeeper is fucking tuff. Like that dude genuinely has the most aura like ever. He is who I want to be (without all the naughty stuff)

”You keep me a million miles away from your metaverse meth lab or whatever it is.” This movie is insane. And kind of stupid. And when it works, it kind of rules? But it doesn’t always work, as it falls over itself when it should be a non-stop high octane trip. Even still, what a silly and fun ride. The dialogue is so stupid, but it also works? It loops around from dumb to ‘dumb but perfect’. Everything is lit…

God I forgot just HOW MANY bee related lines and just how much the word BEE is used like GOD DAMN MAN 😭 that being said this is a above average modern day Jason Statham action flick, honestly bee stuff aside better than i remember the action is solid af and the bee jokes genuinely float between cringe outlandish and funny you can’t help but get into it and stay along for the honey filled ride Josh Hutchinson is very…

Thoroughly entertained by this movie. Loved watching Jason protect the hive. I feel inspired to keep bees.

It’s so stupid and bland. It’s another John Wick style action film but with every line of dialogue being either incessant swearing or bee allegories or puns. This is like the eighth John Wick knock off I’ve watched with my father and I’m kind of getting sick of them. The action isn’t very compelling, the plot is boring, the dialogue is horrible, and it’s all around a very mediocre film at best.

S
Its a Jason Statham movie, you know what you’re getting, and this is a very entertaining watch in the Statham genre
-
J
Jason Statham couldn’t even be bothered to wear a wig to make his disguise believable. He can’t be convinced not to look like Jason Statham, even when he needs to blend in and enter a building full of bad guys. Also, David Ayer is reduced to phoning in a standard Jason Statham flick.
