This being the ending is a punch in the gut for anyone who dared to be invested in anything or anyone other than Jax. Despite Digital Circus being a character focused show we literally don’t know anything about the characters, nor do some of them even interact with each other. When was it established that Ragatha and Pomni were close friends?? We certainly don’t see it on screen. Zooble and Gangle are pretty much backround characters who have all their problems resolved off screen or only when they’re together. You would think Kinger, who had a huge part in creating the circus, would be able to sympathize with Caine or have some kind of heart to heart with him but…

It’s amazing how both of Jax lovers and haters were left disappointed, no redemption, no facing the consequences of his actions, he just abstract off-screen followed by 30 minutes trauma dumping, it’s like watching all of BoJack horseman only for the finale to go “BoJack kills himself, the end” like lmao what’s the point. This show had genuine potential, making it character-focused was the wrong approach, (especially when it won’t work anyway) it should’ve been like Don’t Hug Me I’m Scared, when people say they miss the original vibes of TADC episode 1, what they really mean is the surreal psychological horror of simply existing in that world, DHMIS commit fully to that surreal energy. TADC in the other hand quickly moves from it and make the mistakes of thinking the characters are what attracted us, when it’s was really the world.

We all knew they were just digital brain scans forever trapped in the circus. There was no escape, but it seems incredibly rush for the cast to just talk to resurrected Caine and go about running around the circus. The first episode and episode 8 suggest a route of escape. And even if there was never an escape, the cast never attempt to salvage the possibility of searching for the escape after Caine is deleted. I get their morale for continuing on was depleted after Caine’s adventure baiting them the escape.…

this is the 2nd or 3rd worst show i’ve ever watched. stranger things and lesbian space princess are up there, but this is even worse. i will say, i didn’t watch lesbian space princess but i saw clips that said enough. watched this whole series in like a weekend bc one of the episodes got recommended to me on youtube and i was gagged by the view count. glad today’s youngins have their own homestuck. appreciated all the characters having blorbo-ass names it makes the discourse really fun to read. like wdym ur sending death threats to people over a character named zooble idk i liked it fine. im definitely not the target audience but the humor in the earlier episodes…

10/10…Es increíble que una serie animada hecha por una productora independiente enganche más que gran parte de las películas de grandes productoras. Estética impecable, guión que vale la pena echarle un ojo porque el escapismo y buscar un propósito en la vida son el propósito central a este mundo digital lleno de secretos. I was sincerely moved by the end of it, and the conclusion to the stories of these beloved cast of characters felt bittersweet… yet satisfying. I never thought I’d miss a bunch of fictional characters so much, but I did. To Gooseworx and GLITCH, thank you! ❤️ Long live the digital circus!

I watched it all in one go and think the ending is fine. They find meaning in accepting their existence. It’s a bit oddly paced, and I do got tired of the jax backstory that went way too long, I wish it would have been a bit shorter, focusing on depth and answering some other questions. Killing of Jax in a suicide is truly weird, every character gets themselves to redeem in a way but they were too far gone…

I’ve loved this show for a couple of years now, and this was an amazing finale. There were some pieces of lore that I wish had been filled in more, particularly with the abstracted characters, but overall I think this is the best ending for one of the best shows.

Writing this review three months after the release, I guess all I can say is: my jaw DROPPED watching this. What a wild ride. I was genuinely shocked when we found out that they were basically just neural scans. This is definitely a movie for people who love Jax. Personally, though, I still don’t quite understand the fandom’s insistence that Jax is trans. Like… are we talking FTM? MTF? Maybe I’m missing something, but can’t a guy just enjoy dressing…
