Still like this movie and maintain there’s the good stuff in it, but Jai do have a few questions about some of the casting choices.

This movie has a lot more in common with STAR WARS: THE FORCE AWAKENS than I think most fans of the latter would care to admit. They’re both legacyquels but it goes beyond that. They both recreate the stories of their predecessors, sometimes beat for beat (and, in the case of GENISYS, in a way that’s so literal it evokes BACK TO THE FUTURE PART II). The relationships between Sarah and Kyle and Rey and Finn are nearly identical (the guy who believes he is a hero arrives to rescue this woman, who turns out to be far more capable than he is, a fact she repeatedly reminds him of). And Harrison Ford and Arnold Schwarzenegger’s roles are really similar…

“This is a meaningless gesture. To hold onto something when you know you must let it go.” It’s time to let go of this series.

Man this series is getting really hard to freaking follow. 🤣 Getting? No…kind of always has been. So I’m guessing this has nothing to do with Salvation now, and this is a sequel? Or maybe just a complete reboot? I really don’t know. I’m trying so hard to follow these movies without having to Google it, but I think I have to tap out. It’s just…a lot. I did like that Arnold is back. I didn’t like the route they went with John Connor. I thought all the visuals were cool, and very Terminatory. But overall, I just don’t know if I even care anymore. This series should’ve never continued after T2. I know…money. But the quality is just not…

No. Stop treating this franchise like it’s some indestructible robot from the future. It isn’t. There is nothing left to tell. To be honest the story was finished after the absolutely brilliant first part. I blame James Cameron. He set the tone with the sequel, a very well made film that just about negated everything that was brilliant about its predecessor and turned an iconic Sci Fi villain into an accessory. And that’s how every iteration of this franchise has presented itself. Desperate attempts to fill in gaps that were created in a sketched backstory in part 1. And never, ever succeeding. In many respects, story wise, Genesys is the worst of the bunch. I have absolutely no problems with…

I always wanted Sarah Connor, Kyle Reese, AND Skynet to be annoying! 😃

Fight! – Stallone v. Schwarzenegger: A Rivalry of Muscular Proportions For better or worse, this was actually the first Terminator film I ever watched in theaters. And just like on this rewatch, I remember it being okay. As many of these later sequels past T2 have some solid ideas and action, by trying to come up with new twists and turns, again, while there are some good ideas, I don’t feel they were very well executed. The same goes with this sort of reboot. Performances by our new Sarah and Kyle are okay. Emilia and Jai are nowhere near Hamilton and Biehn in terms of their acting or their chemistry, but it could have been worse. There are not precisely…

Jai Courtney actually isn’t the worst thing about this movie. If anything this gives me a little bit of hope for him in Suicide Squad. I can’t even definitively say why, but for whatever reason I liked him in this movie. All of the performances are actually pretty good. Terminator Genisys biggest problem is that way too much time spent trying to develop a story that makes little sense. The plot is confusing as hell. Through out the entire film, I just kept thinking to myself “What the hell is going on!?” It’s frustrating because with a decent story that makes sense, this film could have actually been pretty good.

In movies associated with time travel the last thing you should do is switch up the mechanics and expect me to go along with it. Literally lost me in the first 10 minutes

Ja no shit, das erinnert mich irgendwie an so moderne Netflix Filme.

How did Alan Taylor get saddled with this script? There’s some interesting ideas + it’s fun they play around with the established lore, but the writing, CGI and acting (except Arnold & JK Simmons) are astonishingly bad

Not really good but underrated. I actually think this is better than the 3rd film, 8/10.

2.3/10 I didn’t think it’d be that bad but yeah this is pretty atrocious. Action is flooded with CGI haze so nothing has the weight or impact it should. Coming right off of terminator 3 makes it all the worse. Dialogue is expository, tell don’t show and there’s a good amount of marvel one liners to boot. Characters feel plotty and lifeless. I don’t understand or relate to any of these characters. There’s scenes where they open up but it’s…

Bro. like the timeline don’t mean nothing anymore. This is pretty equal to last knight in regards of just bs happening. I like pops tbh but Sarah Conner and Kyle reese might be the worst actor/actress duo. Also why does every single terminator post T2 look so bad

Now I’m confused, in the original story John should be protected, why is it like this??

The ending got me crying for a bit.

Not the best but Kyle Reese was awesomeness, and I really like pops he’s so cool. Why did we have to ruin John Connor though? Why’d we have to make him evil? This isn’t fair. This isn’t my baby. 😡😡😡😡 Kyle, Sarah and Pops were AMAZING!!! Also I love how they keeps teasing Kyle about the pants!! Lol

absolute revelation to scores of Terminator and cinema fans that Emilia Clarke might not be good at this whole acting deal. Also, flow chart (copyright LexG) needed to keep track of the timelines

I was interested for the first 20ish minutes then it fell off hard. Arnold is good like always and the guy playing John Connor is great as well. Stupid plot and generic action set pieces

Alan Taylor’s Terminator Genisys is a wildly ambitious, time-hopping remix of the beloved sci-fi franchise that manages to deliver a surprisingly fun, albeit undeniably messy, popcorn experience. The film’s absolute greatest asset is the triumphant return of Arnold Schwarzenegger as “Pops,” an aging but relentlessly protective T-800 who easily anchors the chaotic narrative with genuine humor and surprising emotional warmth. The early sequences brilliantly recreate and subvert the iconic 1984 setting of the original film, offering a clever, visually spectacular…

Genisys suffers from an overly complicated script and a PG-13 rating, but my love for Emilia Clarke makes it a guilty pleasure. Score 58

Nice action scenes but this movie is confusing me with all this alternate timeline and plot twists and screwing with the timeline of the first 3 movies.
-

To me, there’s no worse combination than “starring Jason Clarke and Jai Courtney.” Every decade gets the Terminator sequel it deserves — which may explain why that shit has sucked since the Nineties. The post-Cameron crop is so bad, but each in their own specific ways. Ratchet.

Pretty good. Good movie.

Can Jai Courtney even act?

you have to laugh. they have been dragging this horrendous franchise for decades, spanning past a sequel that mostly closed up every interesting and explorable thread, only to try and recreate the magic of that sequel by having the same characters show up older and younger with a noticeably older Arnold playing the same character he played all those decades ago. there’s nothing left to admire or reminisce, everything I like about that sequel is completely and utterly ruined in…

We’re now in requel land and it’s far from pretty or perfect with the story all muddled but it’s leaps better than the laughable previous entry. I remember the times when Hollywood pushed Jai Courtney as the next big thing and to date his best role is prob Dangerous Animals but homie is lost here and in everything that’s not Animals. Wild how this franchise doesn’t get more shit for going off the rails so badly. -Streamed on Paramount+
