Fight! – Stallone v. Schwarzenegger: A Rivalry of Muscular Proportions Not two minutes have passed and this movie is already getting meta! Also, I can’t be the only one who thought that the main theme song, while catchy and great, does resemble “Axel’s theme” a bit with that little do do di du du duu section. One of those movies that I honestly can’t understand why it got such a mid-reception and is not talked about more. The incredible chemistry and banter between Kurt and Sly alone make this such a great, dare I say underrated buddy cop movie. The action is also quite entertaining, like that cool opening. Again, the score is pretty good—a little derivative but catchy and great overall. All in all, this is a really entertaining film bolstered by two fun performances from its main two leads. “What are you doing here?” “I got lonely.” Actually a cute romcom. Ends with the greatest high-five in history as the leads stare into each other’s eyes. Tango & Cash Fore❤️er.

Whether intentional or not, Tango & Cash is utterly ridiculous in pretty much every way but a total blast from start to finish! Carried by the weird greatness & great weirdness of Sylvester Stallone & Kurt Russell. There’s an endless pool of clunky one-liners. An epitome of campy 80’s buddy cop movie.

The last comically macho buddy cop actioner of the 80s is a bizarre clash of personalities: you’ve got Stallone at the peak of his producer strong-arming and on-set rewriting power trying to play the well-dressed bespectacled straight man to Russell’s long-haired animated cowboy bozo (a last-minute replacement for Swayze) but also Russian filmmaker Andrei Konchalovsky’s whose Runaway Train had similar “talented foreign filmmaker gets a shot at pure concentrated Hollywood action trash” vibes and producer Jon Peters who subsequently fired him for not delivering enough of the bad wisecracking comedy/parody the studio was hoping for if Faltermeyer going wild on the synths is any indication. The final result is some truly strange, goofball nonsense about the last two good LA…

It was nice that the Academy recognized their error in not awarding Jack Palance the Best Supporting Actor award for his transcendent performance here when two years later when they gave him a makeup Oscar for City Slickers. We all know what it was really for: Tango & Cash.

Amazing cavalcade of late 80s Bozo-action. Multiple jokes from Stallone and Russell about looking at each others dicks. Highest tier bozo moment was when Terri Hatcher starts playing an electronic drum kit during her nightclub dance set and then dresses up Kurt in full drag to sneak him by the cops. However, nothing in this movie is as impressive as the roll call of grotesque and weirdo character actors who show up. They include: Marc “Gul Dukat” Alaimo, Michael “the guy who plays gay weirdos” Jeter, Clint “Ron’s Freakish Brother” Howard, Geoffrey “dad to Juliette” Lewis (uncredited), Brion “I’ll tell you about my mother” James, Robert “the guy with a medical condition that makes his skull look like that” Z’dar,…

Sly Stallone is Tango. Kurt Russell is Cash. Both, think they’re the best cop in town, piss off a wacky underworld mob boss, are framed for murder, go to jail, escape, and go on a buddy cop quest for revenge. In the end, will their egos, get in the way of their mission? Sly Stallone plays the straightest of the straight men. He’s a hero cop / stock market expert / fancy dresser. His lack of understanding slang language is radical. (Get the joke?) What he calls Rambo, will make your kitty purr. (I’m on a roll here.) He does look helluva cool in reading glasses. (Eye see you, Sly!) He’s Over the Top. (Wow, I’ve impressed myself with that…

So much fun on the big screen (and the AFGA 35mm print screened at the Drafthouse looked surprisingly good). I feel like the only thing that could make this movie better is if at the end Tango and Cash realized they love each other and became a couple.

The “RV from Hell” is now the standard school run car for most families round here… Nobody involved in this film has any idea what tone anyone else is going for. It’s notable that the newspaper at the end has one article reading ‘Don’t listen to the critics’, undoubtedly prempting negative reception for this confused, bombastic, death rattle of the 80s excess action comedy.

Just a really fun 80s buddy cop movie with a lot of action and equally impressive humor. Stallone and Russell are great, wouldn’t have hated this becoming a franchise but oh well.

I really enjoyed their chemistry! SS was particularly sexy with his glasses.

Something about these 80s action movies!! Started it for the cast, stayed for the plot! Two of my favorite actors and man they make a mean duo, immediately searched for a sequel after this finished and was baffled it didn’t exist! These two give off Jordan and pippen vibes

The most I have seen Stallone enunciate in a movie. It was a fine color-by-number buddy movie. Jack Palance is amazing.

Ridiculous fun and a perfect snapshot of late 80s/early 90s machismo. There’s probably an essay’s worth of gay subtext between the two main characters, should be included with Nightmare on Elm Street 2 on any queer reading course.

To quote the movie, this is “a violent work of art.” Stallone and Russell bullseye bad guys and one liners with an almost buddy cop ease I wish we got more of. An all star character actor assembly makes it a top tier ‘80s action icon.

If you take a drink every time Tango or Cash say/do something zesty to each other, you’re not making it to act 2. That’s why this is a masterpiece. Copaganda is a lot more fun when the cops are really just sweaty bounty hunters.

If the Library of Congress deemed this movie to be the most by the book brainless dude-bro action movie of all time, I don’t think I could really object. Everyone here is playing their part so systematically correct that it just objectively works. Stallone wears glasses, so he’s the smart one. Russell’s got glam metal hair, so he’s the cool one. The villain demonstrates his points to his crew through the use of mice and mazes from his bajillion dollar mega lair, so he’s evil. It just fucking works.

I don’t think I’ve ever seen this before, and I had no idea that it’s such an overt B Movie. It genuinely plays out like a Simpsons’ McBane parody. Bonus points for Terri Hatcher turning in one of the series performances of her career as some kind on non-stripping stripper. If you decide to watch this, find a way to shut down the critical part of your brain. I used sleep deprivation and jet lag, but you do you.

we don’t objectify men in movies nearly enough these days. like, yes i want to see big burly hot guys running around soaking wet in tiny tank tops, biceps popping. steroids were better in the 80s. every line in this movie is a quip or a joke, nobody is ever serious. so i think it’s my duty to take this movie as unserious as possible. fun flick. rooting for tango and cash to become brothers in law.

I really enjoyed this movie, it was a lot of fun!! The sense of humor in this movie was so sarcastic and dry, I was just living for it. The dynamic between Tango and Cash was just gold, like an old married couple and it was hilarious. Action-packed, crime fighting, prison break, incredible plot, fantastic movie.

100% immersed in the reactionary politics of the era. I could set this aside if there were more consistent action set-pieces. We get some cool chases and some decent fights, but it needs more to distract from this script. Damn near every line is PAINFUL. A promising start with the surprisingly meta “Rambo is a pussy” from Stallone and Kurt shooting a gun OUT of his boot after taking two to the chest. Kurt Russell is just doing Gibson in…

My cinema instincts tell me this film’s writing is bad, but I just LOVED the cheeky chemistry of Stallone and Russell to the point of pure unironic enjoyment of their cheesy lines right from the get-go. I think it kinda loops back round to being great writing (at least when it’s them speaking) because it suits their characters a lot. The rest…okay there’s a token shit Cockney accent, the villain is very meh and the plot runs out of ideas…

Bom filme.

i mean movie pretty much performs exactly as advertised. Its like an above average action movie that knows what it is, which is kinda its only flaw cuz like theres no real twist or turns. Even though stallone did better than usual job at acting in this one i think i would’ve preferred a performance where he was slightly more of his classic dumbass stallone not knowing how to react to his lines Kurt Russel in drag is probably the best uses ive ever heard of the harlem nocturne

They don’t make movies like this no more. Action? Check. Great one liners? Check. Two superstars in the leading roles? Check. Everything for a great and enjoyable movie. Tango and Cash is one of those well known 80s action movies. Where nothing mattered until everything was exploding or getting wrecked. It is fun from beginning to end. The story is simple. A wild one! So over the top it feels like it could be a Verhoeven… So many jokes crammed in it could have been tweaked into a zucker/abrams type parody without changing much… but it’s just be a ridiculous buddy cop movie? I’m a little confused but I had fun!

When I was young, I never wanted to watch 80s actions flicks, because I assumed they were all like this. But at 33 I had some fun! It hasn’t aged perfectly, but these two guys love yapping at each other and talking about each others dicks. Plus I adore Sly in his suit and slutty lil glasses.

Tango & Cash was quite an entertaining film. There’s plenty of action throughout, and it certainly keeps things moving. The chemistry between the two leads also makes it enjoyable to watch. That said, I thought the storyline was a bit daft in places. It’s not the most realistic or serious plot, but I think that’s partly what makes the film fun. Overall, I enjoyed Tango & Cash. It’s a light-hearted, action-packed film that doesn’t take itself too seriously. If you’re looking for plenty of action and entertainment, it’s worth a watch. Rating: 7/10

I planned on watching this last summer, but I didn’t get around to it. I had to make sure I saw it before going to Fan Expo because Kurt Russell will be there. I really enjoyed it. I expected it to be more in line with Lethal Weapon (1987), but this movie didn’t have them as partners for as long as I would have thought. Granted they were teamed up, but they weren’t partners like Riggs and Murtaugh for much…

This is the most 80’s movie to ever 80’s movie. OMG! It’s hilarious. The action is over the top. The setting is so 80’s cop movie it’s practically its own stereotype. I still loved it. Stallone and Russell were great together. Lots of nonsense action and one liners. Don’t expect politically correct anything 😂

This movie is Bonkers. There are so many 80s “over the top” (pun is intended) cliches in this movie, it’s ridiculous. This is what the movie LAST ACTION HERO should have been based on because it’s that wild. I didn’t mind watching it because this movie is funny and the action is so ridiculous that it does make this movie actually good. It’s so bad that it’s good. I know I would have loved this movie as a kid, but watching it in my 40s….it’s just not hitting me as it was intended to do. Not hating……I did somewhat enjoy myself.

Absolute lunkhead goofball macho bull-hockey, but sometimes you need a bit of that for a complete rounded diet.
