A conceptualization of the subconscious, comparable to Eyes Wide Shut and Enemy. Stay is crafted with remarkable attention to detail. The backgrounds, dialogue, design, and objects contained in every shot contribute wholly to its overall meaning and cohesion. Its ultimate purpose is to visualize the thoughts and feelings of an emotionally-broken young man, Henry (Ryan Gosling) in the tragic final moments of his life, and his final breathless journey to coming to terms with his broken state. The feelings of regretted actions and unfulfilled love from loved-ones engross the narrative, as a conclusion must be reached. Through a fittingly lucid dream-like structure, scenes appear to blend together. Settings don’t begin, end, or even exist alone, but rather virtually extend into…

only not a 5 star movie because i genuinely wanted to explode myself after watching it because of how strangely relatable they made henry. the relationship between doctor foster and henry is albeit a little strange but is one of the most important relationships i think i have ever witnessed in a rygos film henry letham is just a college kid which i think makes him so important because he is literally just a guy with issues 4.5/5 i loved this movie

Ryan Gosling emo si que no lo vi venir. Aún así, buena película. Muy peculiar. Quizás algo difícil de digerir según avanza pero el final y la explicación merece la pena.

Somehow better on a rewatch. Everyone in the world needs to watch this movie twice

This movie was an absolute mind fuck, it’s so confusing which makes sense for what it’s about but damn. I did enjoy it either way and I think I’ll need to watch an explanation of the ending 🤧 Also if you are sensitive to things like self harm and suicide or at risk of being triggered, be really careful because I was tweaking out after this even though I’m usually fine around this stuff

okay yes i love sad college indie art student ryan gosling!!! this was really good everything technical was so so cool. i wasn’t a fan of some of the writing and some elements didn’t make much sense to me. and yes it’s supposed to be confusing bruh but not in that way!! really enjoyed it and cool concept, lots to think about here.

The transitions are so fucking beautiful at first i was just watching them like dayum that was smooth but after the ending you realize they actually had a reason to be there the whole movie feels like a fever dream because that’s basically what it is random locations, situations bleeding into each other and time making absolutely no sense Mind blowing.

what a beautiful concept, beautifully executed. Need to rewatch soon and write a proper review.
