剧情简介

The story of the last Seal Child’s journey home. After their mother’s disappearance, Ben and Saoirse are sent to live with Granny in the city. When they resolve to return to their home by the sea, their journey becomes a race against time as they are drawn into a world Ben knows only from his mother’s folktales. But this is no bedtime story; these fairy folk have been in our world far too long. It soon becomes clear to Ben that Saoirse is the key to their survival.

For fans of Into The West, The Secret Of Roan Inish, and other modern-day Irish fantasies, but also for fans of loving, detail-oriented animation. Segments of this play like the best Hayao Miyazaki movies, but with a unique and spectacular visual texture. A must-see.

Agggh. It’s insanely good. Somehow combines the deceptive simplicity and parabolic nature of stuff like Spirited Away and My Neighbor Totoro with a vibe that feels dreamlike and almost echoes The Wizard of Oz. Of course, it helps that the animation is just….ugh…..I’m literally getting chills trying to find words to write about it. And the music! I feel like I’ve awakened from a lullaby. Two bold choices I liked here: one is that the Celtic art style, previously used in The Secret of The Kells, is this time applied within the context of a story set in the modern day world. this one really makes it impossible to take your eyes off the screen. it’s like an illustrated book that comes to life, the sky and the sea look like real paintings that move on their own. the simple features of the characters, rather than clashing with the environment, seem to complete it, with these sinuous and clean movements that never cease to be taken seriously even for a second. i’m truly enamored with the animation. it’s like if Ponyo and Princess Kaguya had a child and the child was irish

Oh guys its so amazing. So beautiful visually and the music and story are great. Honestly such a great movie for kids- not only is it full of very untold stories (to a lot of the world) but it also has such a beautiful familial plot line. Reminds me of totoro and ponyo.

Besides the gorgeous animation, I really enjoyed the parallels between the characters and the fairytales that were told to Ben when he was younger. very beautiful story with a wonderful art style. i enjoyed how peaceful everything felt. i enjoyed the slow pacing and lack of sensory overload. some parts, mainly the ending, did confuse me a little.. but it meant i got to do research on folklores. i learnt a lot from others who also watched the movie and had more explained to me. overall very lovely and worth a watch.

“Remember me in your stories and songs” Bisschen in die Jahre gekommen ist der Gute. Das macht aber überhaupt nichts, denn jedes einzelne Bild hat mehr Charakter als viele Streifen der Big Player. Es hilft natürlich ungemein, dass ich keltische Bräuche und Folklore generell super toll und spannend finde. Aber alleine die Palette an Emotionen, die beim Besuch bei Macha abgerufen wird, steckt so viele andere Filme problemlos in die Tasche. Immer noch ganz bezaubernd.

A beautiful movie that I didn’t quite fully expect based on the poster. A couple loose plot threads but nothing enough to really impact my opinion of the movie. Much like Wolfwalkers the animation in this is absolutely gorgeous and just shows what you can accomplish when you’re not restricted by the need to use 3D animation

I don’t think it needs to be said, but every scene in this movie is downright gorgeous. A very original art style that lends itself nicely to a story that’s so inspired by irish folklore. The plot is sweet and beautiful as well. I especially enjoyed how characters from the human world parallel those from myths (like Ben’s father and Mac Lir or Granny and Macha). And one more tiny thing that I really appreciated is that it’s Saoirse’s own choice to stay at the end.

Considering how sparse with dialogue this film is, I’m kind of surprised to find myself thinking, “This would have been so much better with 40% less dialogue.” Migh have been due to the Swedish dub though.

Incredible artwork, but my only nitpick is I wish there was a way to make this style of animation feel more hand drawn. You can tell it is hand drawn, but then moved around by computers. I’m sure it’s way cheaper to do it that way, and I’m thankful a movie like this is able to exist probably because of computers, so it’s not a diss at all. But there’s a visual warmth this could really benefit from. Print it…

Ce film a un caractère visuel très personnel et, même si ce n’est pas le plus extraordinaire, extravagant ou technique, il est assumé tout au long du film. L’animation fait vivre le film et nous plonge dans un retour à l’enfance. Les voyages en voiture, où l’on regardait les paysages, passent d’un simple nom de ville ennuyant à une description de l’endroit, basée sur un élément particulier qui nous intriguait lorsque l’on était petit. Il est simple d’apprendre à faire quelque chose parfaitement, mais il est difficile, voire impossible, de tout oublier pour le faire comme lorsque nous étions enfants.

Cartoon Saloon are masters at showing you a simple story wrapped in themes that you only get bites and pieces of as the story progresses. Song of the Sea is on the surface level a story about overcoming sibling rivalries developed as a result of parental loss and disconnection, but it hides stories of grief, the value of emotions, and the pain of letting go of someone who’s journey is leading them elsewhere. It’s a 5 star movie but I have to pay respect to wolf walkers so it gets a 4.5.

i thought this was like a dream i had because they used to show it in 20 minute increments in elementary school but it’s real but i think the dream thing was the goal anyway i love it so much this is the kind of animation that’s so thoughtful even though it’s not realistic you think i can’t believe a human brain came up with this it actually makes me feel better about humanity

剧情简介: The story of the last Seal Child’s journey home. After their mother’s disappearance, Ben and Saoirse are sent to live with Granny in the city.
