   A great accomplishment from Alex. However the commentary and Netflix coverage was absolutely atrocious — to the point where I either had to mute it or turn the whole thing off. A bunch of complete nothing-burgers being repeated over and over again from two people with zero clue what they are talking about. I feel sorry for the woman on the panel who was an accomplished climber and got talked over by a WWE wrestler and a Youtuber. All (zero) style and zero substance. “The goosebumps are goosebumping.” Is an actual quote from the lead commentator. How insightful. Apparently they later dropped: “The superman of supermanning.” Boo. Hiss.

    I simply adore the simplicity here: man does extremely dangerous thing while you watch. Many people have suggested there’s a real ethical dilemma here given the non-zero chance the climber, legend Alex Honnold, dies on camera. But what is stupendous is that, frankly, when it’s Alex climbing, the outcome is never in doubt. If it can be climbed, the man will climb it. In the midst of so much social media gimmickry, computer generated whiz bangery, AI slop, and other technology-enhanced entertainment models, there’s room for one person doing what only a human being can do.

    My legs shake on the safe and secure balcony of a tall building. So watching Alex climb Taipei 101 was exhilarating. The commentary was quite insufferable. I can’t help but think Alex could palm my face and rip it clean off.

    I got vertigo watching this. Alex’s climb is incredibly cool and the continuous comms issues between him and the crew on the ground are rly funny. Unfortunately the commentators kinda suck 🙁 and they are talking NON STOP. I felt the suspension and anxiety about it even though it happened three months ago and I knew what happened already which was v cool. A fun watch overall

    I loved Free Solo and felt so tense while watching Alex. I felt the same way watching this, despite knowing that yes, he is fine and alive. I will watch this again, because Alex is inspiring.
