Disappointing that it leaves the audience with absolutely nothing interesting to chew on. All the intrigue over the main character is reduced to an easy answer. The only discernible takeaway you could have from this is that wealth and beauty is something people really want and are drawn to. That’s it. It’s crazy that a movie about class and the ultra-wealthy made in 2023 has so little to say. Maybe the movie wasn’t trying to say anything and it just wanted to be a romp. That being said it’s a pretty fun romp.

Je suis tombée dans le panneau. Durant la première partie, j’ai trouvé l’empathie de Felix envers Oliver presque faussement sincère. Tu te doutes qu’il y a anguille sous roche, que Felix va forcément user de son statut d’aristocrate. Tu es touché par la situation familiale d’Oliver, et ton regard se retrouve fixé ailleurs. Puis, en deuxième partie, surprise : tout s’inverse ! Tu comprends progressivement la manipulation. Oliver va se servir du décalage de classe pour mieux appréhender ses proies. C’est malsain, antipathique et opportuniste. Certaines scènes m’ont même écœurée. C’est en tout cas magnifiquement interprété par les acteurs.

Visually beautiful and it’s well acted but lacking any real substance. Like cotton candy in movie form. And honestly more tiresome than shocking. Like a middle schooler standing in front of you constantly going “oooohhh aren’t you shocked? Aren’t I transgressive? Ohhh aren’t you shocked by my deviant behavior?” I’m sorry but I was more concerned by the cleanliness of that drain than anything else that was most definitely diluted in that tub. Rosamund Pike made me laugh a few times though. Love her

Absolutely loved! I think it’s best appreciated if you’ve seen Brideshead Revisited (both the BBC miniseries and the Emma Stone movie). I have also been told Incredible Mr. Ripley is relevant. We went in expected a f-ed up parody on Brideshead and that’s what we got and more. Sorry to those who it wasn’t for.
