Rewatch While this might be one of the most ludicrous plots to ever exist within the spy genre, I can’t deny that it’s one hour and forty minute runtime flies by at an incredibly fast rate. I enjoyed it, and probably the reason why is that the films brisk editing moves so damn fast I didn’t have enough time to wallow in it’s deficiencies and just enjoyed it for what it was; a fun time at the movies.

Couldn’t have cared less about whether she was a Russian spy or not. Seriously, the plot in this is so nonsensical and boring, it’s not even a joke. Humourless, baffling and uneventful.

The poster-child for “you gotta let us at least a little in on what your protagonist is thinking for us to care.” This movie is so far up its own ass that it forgets to come up for breath. Fun action scenes though.

Noyce, known mostly for his 80’s/90’s output of (mostly serviceable, if unspectacular) thrillers, churns out another entertaining (but frankly fairly pedestrian) espionage thriller with a (miscast?) Angelina Jolie. It is interesting to read that this was originally intended for a male protagonist (Tom Cruise) and then re-purposed once he passed on the script/franchise as he felt it was too close to the MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE franchise. Honestly something is also way off during Jolie’s action sequences in particular; we’ve all seen…
