It’s not a 2000’s family comedy without animals beating the shit out of humans, fart and poop jokes, someone abandoning their family, a completely necessary dance number, and most likely Josh Hutcherson.

matthew gray gubler is in this for two minutes in this little pack of guys who try to help robin williams drain the sewage from the rv but it goes badly and explodes on robin williams. and that’s very funny to me.

Look at that poster. Look at it! IT IS HILARIOUS! It has got an RV balanced on a mountain. ON A MOUNTAIN!! Mwahahahahahahaha!!!!! It is such a shame the rest of the film hasn’t got classy comedy like that in it. Not even the mighty Jeff Daniels can save this.

The only PPV movie I’ve ever seen, my family watched this late at night in the hotel on some summer vacation. I remember liking it, and feeling really odd that it was left on, as the lights were out and my parents were obviously asleep for it. I barely remember the beats of this one, but I think it had a bit of that oldschool “national lampoons” vibe, and Steve is bringing his Stevey a-game to it. OK, wow, never mind, I just cheked and it’s not Steve Martin, but Robin Williams???? Who fuckin’ knows with this one, I clearly don’t.

10th Anniversary “Whenever a big white man picks up a banjo, my cheeks tighten.” I find it hard to believe that Barry Sonnenfeld directed this. It just feels so different from the rest of his catalogue. Robin Williams knows how to be the stressed funny dad but the rest just feels too goofy.

Classic 2000’s family comedy. Probably trying to piggyback off of National Lampoon. Not terrible, but certainly not the best. I enjoy Robin Willams a lot though. May he rest in peace

There are a handful of clever lines, which is a handful more than I had expected. And, even more surprising, they don’t all come from Robin Williams. Honestly, it’s an okay time. The family is likeable and relatable. If there weren’t so many poop jokes, I might actually like it.
-

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ for nostalgic value. I can’t count how many times I’ve sat with my family and watched this film but it never fails to make me smile – it’s warm, funny, has a stacked cast and has a very special place in my heart.

Ho passato la notte in bianco quindi ho pensato perché non guardare questo film che avrò visto almeno 50 volte su Italia uno negli anni che furono, risultato? È stato peggio di aver dormito facendo solo incubi

Watched this as a kid, unfortunately doesn’t hold up as well as I’d hoped. Movie feels stiffer than it should, even by 2000’s family comedy standards. The main cast does a fine job, but the jokes just don’t always seem to land or you’ll go long stretches without any real jokes outside of William’s performances. The ending also felt forced, with concessions from his family that it’s hard to say were earned
-
B
This movie has a pretty stacked cast. Robin Williams (rip), Josh Hutcherson, Cheryl Hines, Kristin Chenoweth, Barry Sonnenfeld, Jeff Daniels, Will Arnett, and Tony Hale.

Huh, I could have sworn this was released in 2005, because I know I saw this in theaters but I swear it was during the wretched eight or so months I spent in a rehab (they’d bring us to the movies every now and then, usually bad ones like the When a Stranger Calls remake.) That’s the kind of punishment you got 20 years ago when you skipped school too many times and failed a few drug tests for weed,…

‘Robin Williams playing a bad father’ is honestly one of my favorite genres tbh. I used to watch this so many times as a kid and even after not seeing it for years I still find it fucking hilarious. The cast is so fucking good, the funny bits hit and the mildly deep moments hit just as much even for a dumb mid 00s comedy.

Thing I’ve always admired about Robin Williams is, in his vast catalogue of absolute balls: Jack; Flubber; Patch Adams; Jumanji; Man of the Year; Licence to Wed; Cadillac Man and, here, in RV, he always gave 100%, clearly tried and as a result, rarely put in a shoddy performance – never seen someone with so much energy. That being said, RV is utter horseshit.

– He had a nine inch summer – How do you mean that? A rumour on the Internet at the time of Robin Williams’ death put this feature as one of the reasons – I knew that was Internet baloney cause I’d seen Jack – so what exactly is wrong with RV? Compare it with other rv-type movies like We’re the Millers it ticks the required boxes but something is off – is it Williams’ ghetto moments or the tired annoying “other” family or the clichéd nasty boss? Cast your votes

Better than a Lampoon vacation and with less swearing and fewer boobs. It’s not very good and I wouldn’t recommend it but it’s decent Sunday afternoon fodder. If you fall asleep and miss bits of it, don’t worry, you can guess what happened. This is at least the second time I’ve seen this. Channel 5 used to be ace at putting shit like this on on Sunday afternoons.

Barry Sonnenfield is such a strange director. How can you make something like Addams Family Values, objectively one of the best movies of the nineties, and a classic like Men In Black… but then also be at the helm for slop like this movie and Nine Lives, a film in which prolific wrongun Kevin Spacey has his mind stuck inside a cat? Sonnenfield contains multitudes. This film is ass. One star for Robin but I couldn’t finish this. I gave it the old college try but a girl has limits and brain cells to preserve.

It’s flawed….. very flawed. However the depiction of the modern family is so relatable at so many points in the film. Yes the acting is wooden, yes the jokes can land flat, and yes a lot of them are shoe horned in, but at its heart is a great story of a family finding itself again. I love this film and I’m not sorry about that.

👏 3.42 👏 Just an incredibly nice and heartwarming watch. While it might not have that much substance or deep hidden meaning, it certainly makes up for it in just being such a cheerful and lighthearted film. Not everything works for me, but Robin Williams really brings this film to life, like everything this legend was in, and delivers such a great comedic but also emotional performance. Funny to see a young Josh Hutcherson who was genuinely pretty good in this, and…

This movie is definitely a roller coaster and that’s what makes it a joyful and spontaneous movie. I liked the family dynamic of a hard working father who’s trying to save his family from falling into poverty, to a wife who’s somewhat a control freak but loves him and their family with 2 teen children dearly. Also, the father daughter relationship was also v cute in the very begging and end after she came around after some time.

I watched this movie when I was a lot younger with my family. It was very enjoyable, I love anything with Robin Williams in it (May he rest in peace.) RV is such a suitable movie to watch with family. It brings such heartwarming and feel good moments, and oddly enough, maybe even nostalgia. My dad loves this movie even more than me, I can’t remember the amount of times he’s rewatched it. Even if you aren’t one for family…

this is not a good movie, but that didn’t stop child me from rewatching it lots and lots of times. also, the soda company is called ‘pure vibe’ lol.
