Incredibly generic even by the standards of the Neeson Ass-Kicking Industry. Ultimately it abandons its excruciatingly rote sins-of-the-fathers themes for a (poorly staged) shootout with a Google Glass-wearing hitman played by Common, so I guess that’s something. Big disappointment from Collet-Serra, very little of his formal playfulness.

wish this was edited less aggressively like the other JCS/neeson projects, but it’s still exceptionally solid — it’s an american heroic bloodshed film, all about past debts and hitmen and breathless action, more like ringo lam than john woo. that momentum carries it past its own occasionally slap-dash framing, which veers a bit too close to tak3n levels, although obviously never as awful as that. really love the relationship between liam neeson and ed harris here: two old dogs waiting for an excuse to take up the old mantle that they were oh-so-good at, both destroying each other’s lives over the course of a single night. eminently smashing thriller, featuring common playing an assassin not too dissimilar from his john wick 2 character — love a film about a shitty drunk father trying to find redemption, which neeson seems preternaturally gifted at portraying.

The cast includes at least two people who famously refused to applaud for Kazan at the Oscars. In a clear case of art imitating life, at one point Neeson’s character alludes (jokingly?) to having a 12-inch dick.

Final fight, final memory from the past. What a “stacked cast”. Familiar faces seem to pop up around every corner, even if only in small roles. The whole film has this rough, assured, cynical completeness, but at the same time it slips into that action-movie mold where the connection to these characters seems to vanish entirely. Collet-Serra crosses the line with Liam Neeson and delivers a dark-styled thriller that shines in its night sequences. I only wish he had made better use of those scenes, because there are a few moments of real visual beauty where the despair carried by the falling rain feels deeply symbolic when you think about the story as a whole. And the story is that…

Road to Perdition on steroids. Run All Night is another by-the-numbers but solid entry in Jaume Collet-Serra & Liam Neeson Cinematic Universe. Slickly executed actions sequence, well-shot and exciting B-movie that knows exactly what it is and delivers the goods.

A late night clusterfuck, total bad-to-shitstorm situation and the only person that can clean it up is Liam Neeson and his big revolver. He’s tired and has a lifetime of killing weighing on his shoulders, but he still finds the time to punch some people in the throat and look cool in a leather jacket. Real melancholic aging gangster vibes, solid stuff.

This is one of the better Liam Neeson action movies that have been released in the recent years and it delivered on both the action and the story. The story followed a hitman, who is best friends with a mob boss, but after a conflict between their sons, he has to protect his own son and go against his dangerous friend, which leads to one big manhunt where they have to run from corrupt cops and hitmen. As the title of the movie also suggests, the movie takes place almost entirely during one night, which is cool, since the plot takes place within a couple of hours. It also means that the setting was very dark and without much light,…

Not a bad film, though the relativism that goes on with these Neeson projects makes it rather impossible for these to be wholly bad projects. Here’s a somewhat muted cat and mouse chase, with an expressive color palette thanks to DP Martin Ruhe (he did The American and Control for Anton Corbijn). He has a keen eye for 35mm contrasts—the brights are notably overexposed (without a digital sheen) and the darks are truly shadows. But the whole thing feels unpolished in a way the last two Collet-Serra films have felt confident. Don’t want to pin this down unfairly, but I can’t help but look at editor Dirk Westervelt, who rushes through every shot in an attempt to make static scenes…

Liam Neeson, might be going GREY, but that hasn’t stopped him from making NON-STOP action movies. He’s TAKEN to playing the aging badass, and it’s UNKNOWN if he will ever win an Academy Award, but he’s a box-office A-TEAM champ, and Mr. Neeson keeps the audience coming, like a BATTLESHIP treading water. In his latest flick, he plays Jimmy, a former hitman for the mob known as The Gravedigger. He probably got that nickname from all the times he made A WALK AMONG THE TOMBSTONES. When Jimmy’s son witnesses something he shouldn’t, Jimmy and his estranged son, must put their differences aside to work together to survive the night, if they want to live to see THE NEXT THREE DAYS.…

Pretty mediocre. Ed Harris was a lot of fun, and Nick Nolte with the cameo. Story was serviceable, action could’ve been a lot better, and should’ve cut down on the CGI zooms from the wide shots. Jaume Collet-Serra ranked

this is like an entry in the Taken franchise, just without the awful staccato editing and blatant racism. the focus on the Liam Neeson vs Ed Harris imitating De Niro vs Pacino existentialistic fight between two old farts of a bygone era works quite well. might be Neesons best out of his genre with numerous entries of the old-tired-mans-revenge thriller.

Dug it. Not as well-executed as Non-Stop but there’s enough of Jaume Collet-Serra’s mid-budget kinetic energy (and Liam Neeson growling/lumbering physique) for it to work. Loved the Panic Room-esque fluid connections between scenes/characters; heightened the cat-and-mouse aspect, making everyone feel in tight proximity to one another at all times.

Ein ziemlich seltsam, darin hin und wieder aber auch überraschend großartig inszenierter Film. Der Shot, in dem Rose von dem Tod ihres Sohnes erfährt, hat mein Herz zerrissen. 6,5 von 10 Enten.

This movie sucks so much. How on earth is rated 3 stars and why is this Ed Harris’s worst work
-
A
Well, it’s kind of the same classic Liam Neeson flick. A troubled older man with a violent past, protecting his family while being hunted by criminals and using the skills he spent years trying to leave behind. You already know the formula. Nothing new here. Love Martin Ruhe’s work here. The nighttime cinematography, lighting, framing, and the way New York looks dark, cold, and dangerous really fit the story. The city itself feels like part of the chase. The last part also is incredibly shot.

Neeson and Statham really kept the action ship afloat during the mcu-poisoned 2010s and we should be grateful for that. Run All Night might be one of Neesons best.

As a general rule, I quite enjoy the Liam Neeson/Jaume Collet-Sera collaborations, this film has a wildly overqualified supporting cast (Nick Nolte pops his head in literally for a few lines of unintelligible, gruff, whiskey-addled dialogue), there’s a Genesis Rodriguez sighting (LIONESS fans rejoice, it’s back for a brand new season!) and of course, a nifty lil addition to the “one crazy night” subgenre of crime films. Of course there’s flaws/plot holes, Kinnaman and Holbrook are both acquired tastes,…

Day 21 of monthly challenge: watch one movie per day that is about revenge. Plot: An aging hitman finds himself targeted by a close friend who is a mob boss, when he inadvertently kills the man’s son. Isn’t it funny how actors careers can change all because of a single role? Take Liam Neeson, before 2008 his filmography was really all over the place, playing everything from a Kentucky Hillbilly looking for revenge, all the way to a goddamn Jedi.…

Well, it’s a Liam Neeson movie, but among the better ones imo. A little extra sprinkle of drama at the end, would have been cooler if he just had to go and actually face D’Onofrio and go to prison. But I liked the relationship between Jimmy and Shawn, as well as both their sons in their respective roles. Michael was a bit lacking in the complexity of dialogue though. As I’m writing this, I think this movie could have benefited…

Overlong and bloated film that asks: what if Road to Perdition was trashier and worse. Fortunately it also has things like Liam Neeson hitting on a woman while drunk and dressed like Santa. Neeson and Ed Harris also spend the whole movie in one can only be called a grizzled-off, battling to prove who is the crustiest and ruggedest tough old man.

Such an awesome crime thriller. Basically tailor made for my tastes and it only gets better with each viewings. Definitely the best film Liam Neeson and Collet-Serra have made together.

My dad recommended this. I usually don’t take his recommendations, and I think I’ll continue to do that. Nice of him to recommend a movie about an absentee father redemption arc though. Anyways this is boring. It’s too long, the plot is overly convoluted for no reason, the editing is janky, the shots look boring, the lighting is dull, the sound design was even a bit off. The acting is bad too. Joel Kinnaman continues his streak as the most…

65/100 Run All Night is a solid crime thriller that knows exactly what it wants to be. It doesn’t reinvent the genre, but it delivers a tense, entertaining ride with enough heart to keep the story engaging beyond the action. The father-son dynamic gives the movie an emotional core that helps separate it from other action thrillers. Liam Neeson is reliable as always, and the cat-and-mouse chase through the city keeps the momentum going for most of the runtime. While…

Ed Harris watch for June! Okay so I’m a day late. But for what it’s worth I watched over half of this movie in June. Might as well go on an Ed Harris rampage this month to make up for it! This movie wasn’t half bad! Father and son at the core of it and some cool stylistic choices to make New York and the characters all fit into this night time odyssey.

Nice rainy day thriller. Got some pre good performances, chase scenes and momentum. I think the assassin character is understandably in the film BUT was written to do some kinda dumb stuff (Common was WAY better in John Wick 2) for the sake of prolonging the film. Also I feel some of the fisticuffs was not really convincing or lacked impact (understandably because of Neeson’s age). However Harris, Kinnaman and Neeson and D’Onofrio make the film really believable and enjoyable to watch.

Filmy akcji z Liamem Neesonem wyglądają podobnie. No gusta i guściki, no nie? Z całego…

Weird seeing Common in this. Usually an actor that improves things by popping up in minor roles wherever he is, his sleek, high-tech assassin feels completely out of place in a movie that’s mostly about old drunk Irish-American mobsters lurching around trying to kill each other. Seriously Hitman Common, you went up against John Wick and survived. Liam Neeson is drunk in a santa costume hitting on a cop’s wife in the first 20 minutes of this movie. Show some…

I enjoyed the story a lot with this but the pacing felt a bit off and the action scenes were somewhat of a let down. and it really bugs me when liam chokes out a guy with paper towels in the bathroom like how? I barely pull on that stuff and it rips in half.
