Taking a break from watching bad films of the early 2000s with a bad film from the late 2000s. And Redline certainly qualifies, being a lolcringe knockoff of The Fast and the Furious (2001), even to the extent of its title being one of those considered for that film before Roger Corman supplied a superior one. And, for all it’s faults which are many, TFATF was made by an established director for a major studio, and since its plot was a rip off of Point Break (1991), it at least had a solid story to work from. Whereas Redline is some tedious guff about rich guys organising and betting on illegal street races….but is mostly an excuse to slobber over…

This late-aughts Fast & Furious rip-off is somewhat more notable for being a vanity project for financier/producer/co-writer Daniel Sadek, as a way to show off (and smash up) his exotic car collection. Sadek was a self-professed “rebel” (as in, he dresses like Dave Grohl) hedge fund manager who made a ton of money off his shady California subprime mortgage business. The 2008 stock market crash quickly put an end to all that, however, with Sadek filing bankruptcy after owing millions to his investors (one of which included the CEO of Oakley sunglasses). He was subsequently called “Predator Zero in the subprime-mortgage game” in a Vanity Fair article and the last news item I could find about him was from over a…

Jesus Christ. The target audience for this must be frat boys drinking and talking about cars and women while playing beer pong with some modern hip hop music on while this plays on a small TV in another room they have to walk past to go to the toilet.

What the best genre in which to make a total turd? Having most previously watched such a swords & sandals offering (and indeed a veritable poo poo platter of them in my day), I believe that this is a better place to drop it. What percentage of this budget went to destroying cars? For all its myriad flaws, the races (and crashes!) look real. Races, crashes, comely twenty-somethings in club attire: one can hear teenage boys volunteering to watch such entertainment without any plot or dialogue at all! Neighbor, I assure you that this is the right spirit to bring to this film. It somehow got a $26M budget, and there’s no evidence that a singly penny went to any writers.…

Not as sublimely insane as TORQUE, this z-grade, albeit widely distributed FAST & THE FURIOUS retread is howlingly funny in many scenes. BIRDEMIC-level VFX shots, Tim Matheson playing a Steve Wynn stand-in, and an inspired soundtrack of unknown nu metal/rap artists made this goofball nonsense a pleasing time waster. Also, this film nearly turns into JOSIE AND THE PUSSYCATS with an auto service station band.

Immediately, I knew something was off. This was neither good nor anime. While I was confused, it took me an embarrassingly long time to double check and, yep, turns out I was watching the wrong Redline; And yet, I watched the whole thing all 90 minutes of bad acting, barely audible dialogue and rediculous beats. Makes no damn sense, compels me though. [Edit: glad to see I’m not alone with this mistake!] What gripped me was the fact it felt…

possibly the funniest way to spend an hour and a half. dont have much to say except jasons death was the most warranted and satisfying moment of the entire movie. i like how nobody cared because he is such an asshole the entire first 50 minutes and the whole group focuses on natasha instead. its obvious that this movie was a product of two star-crossed lovers being overindulgent. its an utter cinematic abomination and a monument to the excesses of…

The most interesting thing about this piece of shit is that it was written and produced by a subprime mortgage bro as a F&F knockoff to elevate his soap opera actress girlfriend’s career into feature films but wound up losing a ton of money, accelerating the demise of the lending company, and landing the dude on Vanity Fairs “100 to Blame” for the 2008 financial crisis. This thing is so bad it helped cause a recession.

Just an awful movie that has one of the most ridiculous plots ever and some of the worst acting, writing and cinematography I’ve seen. Is definitely quite the D Grade movie to put it lightly. To be honest there’s not a whole lot to say that would be even worth it, another film that doesn’t seem to of had a low budget hasn’t produced anything special. It kinda has charm in how cringey and tacky it is and if you…

Redline (2007) was a movie that I can describe best as: “One surprise after another.” The surprises didn’t even stop after I finished the movie, because I was surprised to find out that it played in theaters. It’s not a super cheap movie, mind you, there are some pretty outrageous car stunts to prove it. But, you would be forgiven for thinking it is a direct-to-video movie, because it sure looks like it. However, there is so much humor, wild…

I felt weird vibes from the start of this thing. The abandoned voiceover, the hot lead being ogled by the lens, and the incredible amount of high end cars & women who would be influencers today. It felt like money laundering. Turns out it was a vanity project from a sub prime mortgage guy trying to show off his fiancé and the cars he bought from grifting. The leads have no flaws from minute one. No story arcs. Just being hot,…

It’s like if the fast and the furious had really boring action scenes, no chemistry between actors, all the characters were unlikeable and ratcheted up the misogyny and objectification of women up by a factor of 10 million. Literally I don’t think there’s a single scene in this that makes sense or is entertaining

“Pull this plane over right now… Pull over, pull over right now!” One word….. Iconic I remember loving this movie as a kid and have been trying to find it everywhere to rewatch it. The cars were probably the best part of this movie, beautiful…

makes The Fast and the Furious look like a stroke of genius. this has to be a tax write-off, right? the cuts are disorienting, every other song sounds vaguely like it should’ve been by Pitbull, and the plot is baffingly slow and thin. also, for some reason, every scene transition was made via powerpoint to the sound of an engine revving. sadly, this whole mess is a bit too uninteresting to be so-bad-it’s-good.

I don’t know what this movie want to be…kinda wants to be a Need for speed movie because of the Celldweller music, Wants to be Fast and Furious because of the plot, and the edit from your generic action movie from early 2000s…it also wants to retold the Cars 1 movie and that didn’t expect…yeah…it’s kinda of a mess, also seems like this exist because Daniel Sadek wanted to show off his luxurious cars before he went bankrupt or something like that…which is kinda poetic.

It was fun race movie with more to than just racing. The story is not new but then they keep making movies that also have similar plot lines. But that does not make this any less enjoyable to watch. Whoever made this pocketed the money and ran. Comedically bad, worth watching just to learn how NOT to make a movie. Can’t tell if this is supposed to be a live action version of the animated film of the same name but if so damn. 2007 was a FUGLY time for rip offs of other source material. Watched this because majority of the budget just went to cars. If you love watching bad bad not good movies with friends while drinking go for it.

Redline is one of those movies that tries to be a high-octane thrill ride packed with fast cars, flashy women, and explosive crashes but ultimately stalls out more often than it hits top gear. Let’s be real: this film was made to showcase two things gorgeous cars and gorgeous women. And to be fair, it delivers on both. The automotive eye candy is on another level, with exotic supercars ripping through streets in a few well-shot racing sequences that are…

“Well smack me and call me George Bush.” is an actual line very early on in this movie. Such a ridiculous movie. For something that seems so low in budget when it comes to set pieces and dialogue, the car races looked pretty good. A lot of my friends had cheesy racing posters in their boyhood bedrooms when we were growing up. This movie felt like the cinematic equivalent to those busy posters.

i didn’t remember this movie being so hilariously bad. it’s terrible to a capital T. the stunts and racing scenes don’t even make up for how bad this movie is, with an extremely incoherent story and dialogue campier than an afternoon-slot TV show. as a car person though, this movie is like a time capsule of 2000s exotic car culture – literally the only reason why i even gave it 0.5 stars. you’ve got everything from luxurious Maybachs to the…

The Wikipedia article is way more entertaining than the film- The film’s plot is centered on a street racing circle funded by a group of multimillionaires who wager millions of dollars over their high-powered sports cars. It was written and produced by Daniel Sadek, who also used his own automobile collection in the film. A critical and financial failure at the box office, the film is most notable for being funded by subprime loans issued by Sadek’s company, Quick Loan…

Was barely surprised to learn this was funded by subprime loans. Still amazed though that it was shot by Bill Butler. There is a competence to the look of this picture which is easy to overlook in the face of the sheer late-aughts-ness of everything you’re being presented with. I bet Bill Butler (RIP) would have been an amazing guy to talk to. Obviously about Jaws, and The Conversation, but he also worked with such disparate directors as: Jack Nicholson (on his obscure forgotten directorial debut), Claudia Weill, late-stage Cassavetes, FUCKING PRINCE. Anyways, this movie was bad.

There’s the Good Redline (i.e. that one) and there’s the Bad Redline (i.e. this one.) Don’t watch the Bad Redline. This thing is just dollar-store Fast and the Furious, something that has the shape and feel of a vanity film but where the director is somehow not also the star and writer. It’s about fast cars, mostly, but it’s shot with the attention span of a toddler and with roughly the same level of skill, and is laden with as…

This was shot in a tin can. The editing, audio, dialogue. It was all a mess. The cars were very cool. Sure it has that early 2000’s camp but the bad acting and overall cheesy deliveries from every single character fried my brain.

Worse writers than ‘200 MPH’ “Well smack me and call me George Bush” “Why you so stupid still, your stupid ass haircut” “Pull this plane over right now” nope. yup. they just landed a G6 on the freeway to let her out. “he was such a good kid, you know his first kiss was playing spin the bottle” Why is that your fondest memory of your lil brother. ‘Hello” “Wheres my mother, you bitch” “Thats a promise” “You promise?” THIS COST $26 MILLION BTW.

Of all the movies that tried to take the Fast & Furious franchise’s throne, this has to be the lamest. It seems like the entire budget was spent acquiring or renting expensive cars and nothing else. At least other movies in this era like Torque, Need for Speed, etc. had some form of flair to make it somewhat entertaining. I will give an extra star to Eddie Griffin‘a off-production incident where he crashed a Ferrari Enzo, just to be generous.
