the hushed, conspiratorial way that adam sandler raves about the pudding promotion seeming too good of a deal to be true is the same way i used to talk about moviepass (RIP)

the best autistic movie we have to date. astounds me every time, reminds me that I’m deserving of the love in my life, that it isn’t forged out of pity or by chance. I think about the meltdown in the bathroom a lot, I know what it feels like to lose grasp of your control and become alienated from your own mind. some days, this is my favourite romance movie ever. I hope to write a full thing on it someday.

When I was 17 or 18 I was eating lunch at this place called New York Subs (now closed) and I ordered my sandwich and sat down in front of this man (who I later learned was my parents’ dentist, incidentally) who was by himself waiting on his food. When the waitress came by to bring him his order, I heard her ask him about the crossword puzzle he was doing. “Yeah, I find it’s a lot easier to do the longer words first, then you can kind of work your way out from there. But sometimes I just can’t solve the longer ones, and the shorter ones can help with those.” There was something about this exchange that was…

nothing makes me happier than the scene where barry decides to buy all the pudding and he kind of just starts dancing in the grocery store

Beau is Afraid for romantics its been so long that i forgot every beat of this movie and thank god bc i needed this right now. almost moved to tears by a simple exchange through smiles at the end– “you left me at the hospital.” “i know.” “you can’t do that.” “i’m sorry.” it can be so simple! to be understood! to communicate! to forgive! to love! barry suits up for the office like he just binge-read an audiobook on power moves. his entire life runs according to the belief that if he simply follows the rules, for better or worse, everything will work out. and piece by piece, his theology comes undone as he either eschews the rules or…

Weird yet cute, PTA knows how to lift mood. Both Adam & Emily deliver fantastic performances, complemented by a well utilized musical score & genuinely great comedy. It feels entirely natural & lighthearted, making runtime fly by effortlessly.

Allucinante ma divertente; alcune sezioni le ho trovate un po’ overwhelming – anche se non in senso negativo. Qualche punticino in meno perché trasuda fin troppo y2k, ho visto film invecchiati meglio

this movie is so fucking GOOOOOOOD. paul thomas anderson i luv you. everything about this movie is so weird in the best way. the soundtrack genuinely featured people like whispering and knocking that made me pause my movie and look around my room. this is one of the best portrayals of social anxiety and loneliness and how the power of love trumps it all. i can’t believe this movie doesn’t get more love man. this is one of my favorite absurdist movies ever made holy shnikeys

I mean that’s a pretty good fucking movie, it’s just fall flat for me on some topics. To be specific at the first 30 minutes I thought this is going to be a romance action movie but not in the cheesy way, the concept of him getting involved with those shady people while they’re blackmailing him completely falls flat to me, they aren’t involved in the story that much, they rob him, they get beaten couple of scenes after and…

Challenge 2026 #34 37/52

Loved it. What a rollercoaster Very sweet, but so chaotic. Adam Sandler kills this role. The final 20 minutes were amazing. Definitely have to rewatch

The romance was a lot of fun to watch unfold, especially with how chaotic everything around it gets. Adam Sandler being this good was surprising. After seeing him in so many comedies where he’s basically playing some variation of the same character, watching him here was like seeing a completely different actor. Philip Seymour Hoffman is great as always, even though he’s barely in the movie. He makes the most of every scene and is hilarious.

Love to watch the occasional movie that doesn’t fit neatly into a category. In PDL there are laugh-out-loud moments, but I wouldn’t call this a comedy. There’s heartfelt love between two people, but I wouldn’t call it a romance. There are fight scenes but it’s not an action flick…there are jump scares but it’s not a horror movie. It’s all of the above mixed together and baked into a loaf of life. Yes, I said it. A life loaf. See…

Have heard so many people cite this movie when discussing whether Sandler is a good actor or not. Now that I watched it, the discussion shouldn’t be about whether he’s good actor. It should be about whether he’s GREAT actor. Fantastic performance, movie wouldn’t work with anyone else.

wiki calling this a rom com is hilarious

Offbeat and quirky, its a bit of an anomoly in the career of PTA. I’ve talked before about how this is really just a “good” rendition of the classic Sandler archetype, and that’s probably what makes the character so great. Really love this movie.
