Before the Janet Leigh shower scene, no one in America knew what a naked woman’s body looked like, in fact, most women didn’t even know you were supposed to be nude to bathe. Hitchcock’s suggestion of nudity on film and frank depiction of sex outside of wedlock created horniness for the first time in our history. Hitchcock got everyone sprung before immediately showing the most brutal murder that had ever been depicted in art. The juxtaposition of these two heretofore never experienced phenomena created something called “psychology” for the first time ever and permanently warped Americans’ minds by connecting having a mother to sex and death. Truly Hitchcock is the master of puppets.

“We all go a little mad sometimes” This film is a masterpiece. Alfred Hitchcock is a master of creating suspense, and this film shows it. This is, in my opinion, not only one of the greatest films ever made, but also one of the best universal studios films made. It definitely deserves to be on the film hall of fame, it shows how truly mentally unwell some people can be, and the consequences of obsession and jealousy but also un…

finally got to see it on the silver screen !!! ive seen this like the umpteenth now but it really still holds up. so modern. so timeless. although i’ve seen it so many times – i think the factor that makes this round bump up my rating is that you really get the feeling of committing voyuerism. just the way hitchcock intended.

A Brilliant Hitchcock film that changed cinema. The performances are good great dialogue and an amazing twist with some excellent cinematography throughout. Only problems for me would be I didn’t like the first half that much it’s okay but the second half is amazing. Revolutionary classic that changed cinema. Good film!

Its ending is a masterpiece tier ending as the way Dr. Fred Richman explain about Norman Bates is my favorite part (might be an unpopular opinion but I think it’s an excellent fictional psychological profiling case study, while Alfred Hitchcock himself didn’t like the idea that was pressured by the studio). What I said of how the ending is a masterpiece tier ending makes me wish I could say the same about pacing in beginning and middle of the film.…

This movie is iconic and an absolute classic that paved the way for so many horror movies that I love. It’s well shot, well written, well acted (especially by Anthony Perkins), and very well scored, but the editor definitely could’ve cut some scenes down to shorten the run time and to make things move at a better pace. Several scenes are very drawn out and it starts to make the movie feel like it’s dragging by. I’m excited to revisit more of Alfred Hitchcock’s work and to see where I rank/what I rate each of them! *I watched the uncut version

an incredible experience watching the beginnings of all of my favorite horror tropes and references… the sound design and soundtrack are so influential and i sat there amazed as it clicked to me that the composers of reanimator’s soundtrack took heavy inspiration from this film’s. and all of the things that scream ended up referencing, of course. the iconic “mama’s boy” slasher archetype… and just so many of the devices i have seen before in movies that came out after…

One of the scariest films I have seen. I can’t explain it. This film consistently sewed constant dread and disquiet in my inner psyche but kept my eyes glued to the TV. This film’s shots, characters and score all contributed to this unease and it was done masterfully. This is only the second Hitchcock film I’ve watched but I think this is his crème de la Creme.
