DDaydream Of Hell 8 月 24, 2026
Interesting polar documentary about a man attempting to break a world record in Antarctica. Perhaps prone to mythologising its central figure to an often absurd degree though – it does get tiresome when his family are being interviewed to spout utterly inane lines like “when he was young, he wore a lot of caps” and “from infancy until he was seven or six years old, he always whistled”, but given that what he achieves in this film is genuinely incredibly impressive it would be a bit unreasonable to harp on that too much. Pretty nice polar film, yeah. Released on the 100th anniversary of the ultimate polar doc, Nanook of the North, it’s obviously nowhere near that quality, but good for what it is – more a story of achievement than about the poles themselves!

I’m a big fan of Yes Theory, and with all the hype surrounding Project Iceman, I was excited to watch it. Expectations were met, but the film is still wanting. Anders is a beast, an inspiration, and an exemplar for surpassing limitations. You really get to know what type of person he is. When he struggles during the Ironman, to the point of utter exhaustion, you never doubt that he’s going to complete it—you just wonder how he’s going to convert the pain and hopelessness into relentless energy. Although there was beautiful cinematography, it’s clear this is an amateur film. That fact hasn’t been hidden, actually been harped on to promote how good it is for being independently made,…

Unironically the most locked in I’ve been watching something hahaha. Man a human when he puts his mind to do something and doesn’t let limitations stop him, is a dangerous thing because employment is scared of this guy

A man trains for a long-distance triathlon in Antarctica. Documentary that follows the efforts involved in funding, training, and engaging in a first-ever Ironman on the frozen continent. There are leopard seals and crevasses to avoid, routes to be cut through snow, freezing waters to endure, and raging storms to shelter from. Not to mention the mental effort to push on through the extreme physical requirements. Ultimately it leans a little too heavily on the social media / proto-motivational speaker aspects for my tastes. Not that those aren’t key to the project’s success – YouTube and sponsorships get things moving, and are responsible for this film’s existence – but they’re less interesting to me than the physical struggles involved. But we do get plenty of that too. Overall it’s watchable if you like these sorts of extreme activity, one-man- (with-support-crew) -against-the-elements-and-also-himself sorts of things.

I actually started watching this documentary because I’m trying to watch films from every country in the world, so I could mark Svalbard and Greenland on the map. As I kept watching, I found myself really admiring Anders. I don’t really like physical activities; I’m not the athletic type but I hate social norms. Ever since I was a child, people have told me I couldn’t do certain things—just like they told Anders—and yes, they played a big role in…

Básicamente es un pibe que hace un Iron Man en la Antártida. Pensé que lo hacía seguido, lástima que le tocó tormenta. Y yo me quejo que la alberca del Centro Libanés está fría. 4 estrellas porque se rifó.

I love the message of “if you put your mind to it, nothing is impossible” this documentary conveys but Anders reasoning and motivations seem forced to try and make us feel sorry for him when it could’ve been framed better, perhaps in the tone of look what humans can do. It’s technically very well made and the animated sections are cool, I would’ve liked if they touched on COVID at the end more or the final chat/interview was longer.

It’s really very motivating. I love how he speaks about possibilities, limitations and self belief . “There’s only one person who can find out where my limit is”

The Quest for the Green Map #67: Antarctica Bro really set his mind to something and did it. Just like me and all my film challenges I set myself. Reckon I’m an athlete in a similar calibre. An Olympian of films some might say. But yeah… this was decent enough.

This man had his hat taken away in kindergarten and ended up becoming a businessman. Become inspired by how he almost went into debt to risk his and nine other people’s lives in Antarctica, all so he can ride a bike in a circle for 20 hours. And man, imagine being one of the people that were left on the boat. You come all the way out to Antarctica, get rescued by the Chilean government after almost freezing to death, only to come back and find out a global pandemic started happening while you were gone. Morbidly hilarious. For Antarctica

No way I watched yes theory growing up and I had no idea they dropped this banger!! I love this style of documentary! The amount of wrenches thrown at this project is unheard of.. Also idk, but I think Nelk wins for most inspirational YouTuber race documentary (the degeneracy is more relatable haha) Anders is such a great name (I say narcissistically)

This shows how weak I’m rn despite giving my best realising how human can stand mentally this tough while other’s just have a shit excuses for not doing anything throughout their whole life. Anders is truly fucking goat and inspirational for every age who’s trying to work hard beyond limitations and find the right purpose of life !! The Only Limit is ‘U’ More Way to Goooooo

Interesting dude, interesting story, but some cheap tricks and limp interviewing dim the doc long before it hits the end of its runtime. When someone commits to doing a long-distance triathlon in Antarctica, there’s no question that the process / outcome is going to at least be a little bit interesting, so this was always gonna shine in some capacity. However, the doc’s amateurish approach really hobbles its ability work for 109 minutes. Like, they pull this sneaky move of…

“Limitations are only perceptions.” — Anders Hofmann I inhaled this film like it’s oxygen, it makes you ask yourself how far you can really push your physical limits, forces you to feel motivated & awe-inspired. I’m going to do a fucking ironman next year, thank you Anders.

Humans are amazing, but this documentary film was uninspiring and quite boring.

Imponerende projekt.
