Cleans the franchise up after the over busy clunkiness of Shane Black’s entry by reducing the logline (and, in turn, the iconic alien beast) to its pro wrestler essence. “Predator vs. Commando” transformed into “Predator vs. Lethal Weapon” before “Predator Battle Royale”. Now, it’s “Predator vs. Native Warrior”, stripping all pretension away and barely leaving room for anything beyond one properly choreographed and thrillingly gnarly set piece after another, arrows and tomahawks flying and drawing green blood as the ultimate hunter takes his own scalps. There’s a theory that you can use these movies to take the pulse of where action filmmaking currently sits since ‘87, and this one feels fit for the post JOHN WICK era: precise, well photographed chaos that’s more than a little show-offy. What a pleasant surprise.

“does your constant dread over a fictional dogs safety effect your overall enjoyment of the movie?” “it does, and im tired of pretending its not”

Good! I would’ve preferred a lot less handheld in the action but it’s still suitably gnarly. Great movie dog!

my only nitpick is that i thought it was crazy when she said “this predator is going down like michael douglas do.” i didn’t even know there was a comanche word for “michael douglas”

That predator is underleveled and has shit weapons. He need 100 more XP to get to level 5 and unlock the shoulder cannon.

The Predator finally meets someone who doesn’t care about the rules of the hunt. Naru doesn’t have Arnold’s muscles, a machine gun or decades of military experience. She has curiosity, observation and a refusal to accept that tradition has already decided what she can become. Set in the Comanche Nation 300 years ago, Prey strips the franchise back to its primal core: one hunter, one environment, one terrifying creature and the question of who is actually being hunted. Dan Trachtenberg…

The most solid Predator movie of all time

Absolute fucking banger. The predator design and the setting and how Naru uses the environment and pre-established rules/technology in the movie was insane along with how beautiful the shots look

Interesting change to the played out predator plot. It was so promising.

First prederter/aliens film I’ve watched. This films really got me ready to watch more from this universe. Really good film. Love the story arc for Naru And her whole aspect of not being seen as a hunter. Along with Naru I also love her brother Taabe thought his whole character was great. His aspect of being the best hunter and sort of a leader to everyone was really cool. He comes in and saves Naru while also sacrificing himself is…

Properly refreshing. Goes back to what made Predator work instead of drowning everything in CGI bollocks 1719 setting is class , omanche territory, French trappers, zero modern shit. Feels immersive as fck And honestly chronological order is the way to go. Been working through the franchise these past few weeks but decided to do it by timeline instead of release date. Prey’s the perfect start, 1719, years before the rest. Been ages since I’ve seen some of these, so what…

I looked up and the movie actually is pretty historically accurate, which kinda surprised me. Anyway it is a really fun movie with a pretty good main character. It’s good at what it does plus I really liked what they did with the languages. The Comanches speak English which is supposed to be their native language (I mean like they speak English so we can understand but in the movie they speak their native language) and they took Frenchmen for…

‘— My girl, you are good at so many other things. Why do you want to hunt? — Because you all think that I can’t.’ My favourite Predator movie along with Badlands and they’re made by the same director what a surprise Naru u will always be a badass final girl 🤍 Amber Midthunder deserves so much more recognition!!

I need more crossovers of horror/alien sci-fi in historical contexts. The atmosphere builds with sweeping landscapes and immersive sounds until the thoroughly enjoyable action sequences of the third act. I would actually really like to rewatch with the Comanche dub. Obviously the presentation of the Predator as a technologically advanced outsider viewing the native life as a trophy to conquer is historically relevant.

Turning iconic horror franchises into anthologies/spinoffs rarely goes well: “Freddy’s Nightmares,” “Halloween III: The Season of the Witch,” “Friday the 13th: The Series,” etc. Predator once again becomes the exception to the rule.

Easily the best in the franchise since the original. Building the Predator universe into Comanche nation folklore and their historic interaction with the French in the 18th century, the beautiful photography and cinematography based in Alberta (Canada), an outstanding lead in Amber Midthunder, so many things to like!

I really enjoyed this movie! At first I will admit, I was hesitant. This is due to the fact that my partner had said no to all of the movies I wanted to watch. They then decided to pick this one, which I had heard nothing about. I also wasn’t necessarily in the mood for a horror movie. BOY was I wrong! What an absolute romp this movie was! The lead was amazing, she kept me captivated the whole time.…

Alien & Predator List A solid return to what makes Predator interesting, with the 1700s Comanche setting and beautiful landscapes giving the hunt a completely different atmosphere. Watching both Naru and the Predator navigate the same ecosystem as hunters was easily the most interesting part. Unfortunately, I never found myself particularly attached to the characters, and I was left unsatisfied by some of the Predator’s fights. The issue isn’t that it uses invisibility, the Yautja have always used overwhelming advantages while…

This is easily the best Predator film since the original, it isn’t even close. It doesn’t really change the formula all that much, like if you’ve seen any of them you’ll know what to expect, but there’s enough differences that make the movie worth it. Taking place in 1719 following Naru of the Comanche Native American tribe. This in itself sells itself as an interesting set piece. All the previous movies have taken place during the time of release, this…
