I. WAS. SHOOK. I’m fully aware that this epic disaster movie about a cruise ship that flips upside down is ENTIRELY unrealistic, but damn it was a fun ride ok! For some reason, the idea of drowning is quite scary to me. Not as scary as falling from some ridiculous height, but still pretty scary and this movie manages to feature both of those highly undesirable exit strategies so yeah I was screaming at the TV during certain parts and just stupid tense for most of it so basically it was GREAT! A film that managed to actually combine two of my biggest fears in one extended sequence: claustrophobia (they’re trapped in an air vent) and drowning (while water is rising). That made for fun. So much fun. Yay. It’s pretty fucking funny that an otherwise enjoyable b-movie just… ends. Lmao. No characterization, no payoffs, just a ship sinking and credits, baby. Is that a spoiler? For a 20 year old film? I don’t care. This is fun enough, just expect NO payoff for any of this!

oh mate I FUCKING ATE THIS UP!!!!!! talk about destruction! talk about disaster! talk about anxiety! tsunamis are truly my biggest nightmare but my favourite thing to watch and this reminded me of when i was a kid searching up tsunami movie scene compilations on youtube. my heart rate actually didn’t lower the whole 98 minutes and the capsize scene alone is just fucking insane. if you’re a final destination kid like me THIS MOVIE IS FOR US 😍

i love disaster movies this wasn’t one of my faves, the writing is a bit iffy and some of the CGI is questionable but it was entertaining also how are they not all wrinkly from being in water so long also i wouldn’t of survived this because i wouldn’t of climbed across that big metal thing a million feet in the air, or climbed vertically up a vent never ever going on a cruise xxx (also i cannot believe that Captain Holt, Fergie, Fiona Gallagher & Wyatt Earp are in this film)

Gooooood disaster survival film after long time! Wonderful making and genuine, realistic and atmospheric visuals! Should applaud the production design and their efforts to make it raw and realistic throughout the film! The practical effects really paid off well for the film! I mean literally, most of the scenes really had me in the front seat that is because of the efforts, practical effects felt real. Otherwise, in other films it’d like – “Oh yes, that’s a good CGI” .…

The only god thing about this is the credits song, that shit slaps. Fergie knew what she was doing, too bad she was aboard the ship. (I get mad everytime I see that convenient boat equipped with flairs and so on. It baffles me how bad and cheap the writing is for a movie that is suppose to be a blockbuster.)

Pretty well executed throughout but never quite fulfils it’s potential with only a couple of actors giving it any sort of personality and some badly aged digital effects work in the mix here. It’s ok but there are other films of it’s type that delivers more solid, sustained thrills. And they have the benefit of not having Fergie in the cast.

Why have I watched this bad remake of The Poseidon Adventure 3 times? Is it Kurt Russell? Is it Emmy Rossum? It certainly isn’t Peterson’s direction or the bad CGI. It certainly isn’t Josh Lucas. Is it the irrational hope that I will like it more on rewatch? Why? Somebody help me.

Good movie for the Hollywood action, bad from a realistic perspective (I realise it’s meant for action but when you look at it from a distance you see how ridiculously improbable it all is) otherwise very good for keeping you on the edge of your seat, incredible CGI too!

I loved this movie. I absolutely understand the hate but i found it pretty thrilling. I want to know what his deal was with ships tho? How did he know so much about them and just so happen to be v resourceful AND have a solid survival instinct. I loved how there was heaps of shots of them struggling underwater. That annoying wee kids face when he was swimming was top tier. I would have just left him behind that grate tbh

I was afraid rewatching this after over two decades might make me like it less, especially since this wasn’t well received upon release. No worries. I really like this movie. The climb through the shaft is great claustrophobic thriller. The cast is likeable. The set design and stunts are great. It’s a fun of old school disaster film that we don’t get anymore.

Personally I feel this gets a bad reputation for no reason. Characters are all pretty likeable with your one token asshole, effects are pretty good. Real sense of claustrophobia and tension whenever they are going through tight spaces and risk of drowning. Mia maestro is great in this and it also has more actors that deserve more roles/recognition.

A disaster movie can be classist? Well, yes, this one definitely is. It perfectly captures the idea that some people are disposable—useful as leverage when needed, and then thrown away. A very Hollywood attempt at remaking the disaster movies of the ’70s. Btw, this one even got an Oscar nomination. Grade : “C+”

Он их проводит через взрывы, затопленные помещение и т.д. И в итоге они выбираются через отверстие в корпусе корабля, сам корабль от столкновения с волной перевернуло сверху вниз и они выбрались через технические помещение и их сразу же подбирает прилетевший спасательный вертолёт. Всё конец. Хаппи энд
