I can distinctly remember when these came out that they were liked but frequently talked about in the way we now talk about Marvel (relentless plot structure, broad characterization & humor, literally based on a theme park ride, etc) but watching now it’s like WE HAVE TO GO BACK. It’s not just the tightness of its construction/pace (this somehow feels economical at a runtime that now makes me want to kill myself whenever I see it), the incredible analog design work, or the charming performances. Verbinski has a real sense for the old-fashioned craft: choreographed swashbuckling, images (and music!!!) that have energy and personality and payoff and feel like they were storyboarded by artists instead of a committee of brand producers.…

Been waiting to start watching this Franchise for so long and Finally I did. For a Movie from 2003, This one holds Amazing Visuals, VFX/CGI 💯🔥. You will notice some small details that the makers have made sure are in place. Johnny Depp was born to Play Captain Jack Sparrow, Everyone knows that. The Comic elements at moments are very good that will genuinely make you laugh. Hans Zimmer’s Score is perfect, No other score can be as good as the one He made for this Franchise for a Movie based on Ships & Pirates. Overall, A Enjoyable Ride it was. ⚓🏴‍☠️

A deals a deal, I’m a man of my word. Every 5 episodes=1 film. Anyway this film is actually super fun, definitely more fun than I thought it would be. I can’t work out if Captain Jack Sparrow is actually a good pirate or if he’s shit. It’s funny how this film all came from a corset. And that poor guy getting Cucked at the end, as Jack said I was rooting for you.

Pirate Legolas is so hot dude. Barbosa and Jack Sparrow really put their all in this film. Sets are amazing. And probably one of my favorite first 40 minutes to a movie ever. Will breaking the candle, and Jack hanging out with the red coat guards before saving Elizabeth is the perfect introduction to this world

“You best start believing in ghost stories, Miss Turner… YOU’RE IN ONE” Jack Sparrow and Barbosa steal the show, but I liked Knightley and Bloom as well (although their characters are kind of bland). Such a fun ride and a great introduction into the Pirates world.

There exists a pantheon of movies that are infinitely rewatchable. This is one that achieves that stature not by being technically flawless or artistically highbrow, but by being endlessly entertaining. The fact that this was based on a theme park ride is both incredible and yet perfectly apt for the kind of movie this is.

Early in Pirates of the Caribbean: Curse of the Black Pearl, the character Jack Sparrow (portrayed by Johnny Depp) tells William Turner (portrayed by Orlando Bloom) that “The only rules that really matter are these: what a man can do and what a man can’t do” thus establishing a dichotomy within each character while also showing the audience throughout the film that the spectrum in which the characters operate is anything but this truth. In this essay I will… Whoa did y’all see Will do that cool flip?

Supreme entertainment. A fiendishly delightful romp. Gore Verbinski deftly directed a terrific slice of popcorn-munching 🍿 cinema. Johnny Depp is splendiferous in the lead role. Geoffrey Rush is wickedly superb as his arch-nemesis. The rest of the cast including Jack Davenport, Keira Knightley, Orlando Bloom, Mackenzie Crook, and Jonathan Pryce all make great contributions as well. This is the only film I’ve ever gone to see—not once, twice, or even thrice—but FOUR times in theaters. (With different friends each time.) For me, it’s never grown old. Just adore it. The sequels may become gradually lackluster, but the original still retains its sheen. Viewed on DVD. 📀
