PADDINGTON is better than 5 of the 8 movies currently nominated for Best Picture. also, while we’re playing that game, i’ll add that it’s a better (and more nuanced) immigrant story than THE IMMIGRANT. and it would be even better if sprinkled with Werner Herzog’s narration from GRIZZLY MAN.

It looks incredible and I was devastated any time anything even slightly bad happened to Paddington. But the taxidermist story is so terrible that it turns it from a whimsical family movie into a very mid kids’ film, complete with at least one pop culture reference that would have been dated even when this was first released (why’s Paddington singing the Mission Impossible theme tune?).

3:31pm very cute!! although shenanigans where the main klutzy character accidentally causes ruin and disaster of infrastructure and facilities tends to stress me out rather than find the perpetrator endearing. and, obviously, this movie has quite a bit of that lmao. but this was very sweet and i liked everyone dynamics!! and i loved the browns. i’m kinda mr and mrs brown combined lowkey (more so mr brown, i.e. his stationery… gorge) an unexpected cast!! peter capaldi ily. sally hawkins you are perfect

WE all cried several times watching this movie BTW. I love paddington he’s so sweet and the world is so, so cruel to him but he stays positive. He feeds part of his EMERGENCY sandwich to a bird because his heart is so kind and pure. I love him he’s just a baby :(((

Paddington is such an iconic British film. It is a wonderful love letter to London, along with being such a sweet and heartwarming story about found family. While it is a greatly enjoyable film, it felt as if (especially after seeing the musical) the film lacked some key character development. The characters just don’t feel as well rounded as they do in the musical.

Such a cozy film, I understand why everyone is raving about them. Paddington is so lovable and the film so playful. At times it did take me out of the experience a little bit just how much they’re emulating a Wes Andersson look to the film. Almost felt a bit like stealing in a way. But nonetheless an easy fun watch!
