You know, sometimes you need to put on your black beret, grab a shotgun, and go Out for Justice. I will always love Steven Seagal. The pimptastic ponytail, his mixture of Kendo and Aikido, the way he talks, his swagger, and his love for stray dogs. I’m torn if this or Under Siege is my personal favorite. There’s no stripper cake in Out for Justice, but there’s a lot to savor. Every hero needs a villainous villain to fuck up. Well, I must hand it to William Forsythe. He’s a fuckin’ loon, and a crackhead. He smokes more rock than Chris Rock’s Pookie in New Jack City. He doesn’t give a flyin’ fuck. He shoots cops in broad daylight, has…

I’ve always joked that Out for Justice is more or less what would happen if someone just dropped Steven Seagal in a James Gray movie, but that is also a good description of it, a gritty very 70s crime movie about neighborhood and the horror of its community bonds that happens to feature more shootouts and aikido. The title means nothing, as there’s no justice served here, Seagal’s character, who is technically a cop but really is just a street tough with a badge, is out for retribution, the only justice available throughout is street justice. William Forsythe, giving what is by far the best performance in any Seagal movie, is high throughout the whole film committing no shortage of…

The early Steven Seagal movies are all among my favorite movies of all time, and the first third of this one with William Forsythe smoking crack and killing people and the famous pool hall fight with “Sticks” is no exception. However, after the “ANYONE KNOW WHY RITCHIE KILLED BOBBY LUPO???” scene this movie FALLS OFF A CLIFF, ZONE OUT CITY as Seagal wanders aimlessly telling interminable goomba anecdotes to stupefied Brooklyn stereotypes.

Steven Seagal shotguns a dudes leg clear off, of course this film rocks! Seagal rocks a ponytail, black vest, and a beret for a lot of this film. Fashion disaster or icon? You decide. I’m honestly shocked by how damn cool this film was. Seagal doesn’t have the greatest reputation when it comes to films, but if this and Under Siege are any indication his early work is pretty terrific. You’ve got a pissed off Seagal tearing apart Brooklyn to find the doped-up bastard that murdered his partner in broad daylight. Hell, damn near all of Brooklyn is trying to find the punk, even the mafia has rules and he broke them. So there’s this uneasy “camaraderie” between our loose…

Steven Seagal’s Goodfellas. He’s now more Italian than ever before, hilariously named Gino Felino and telling ridiculous stories about “the old country” and wiseguys sticking people in car trunks. At one point he sheds a single tear after his friend is shot, no doubt fake because I don’t think Seagal has tear ducts or the ability to feel emotion. The crown jewel of the movie is surely the scene where he walks into a bar sporting the least intimidating tough guy face ever and beats the shit out of everyone for like five minutes. This movie ends with Seagal yelling “yo, fucknuts!” and kicking someone in the balls. Incredible.

god, even in the ‘good’ steven seagal films i just cannot stand his dumb puffy face and his shitty ‘urban’ accents. the action here is well-shot but when it’s seagal that’s the focus you never really get any tension because the prick won’t allow himself to look hurt or overwhelmed by his opponents, he just dominates the film and holds the story hostage to his own ego.

After a pretty serious anxiety attack today, I really needed cheering up. So I asked my dear friend Simon Ramshaw for something “very silly” to watch. He did not disappoint. This is my first Steven Seagal movie. I’d heard the horror stories and even accused some people of hyperbole, but dear Lord. He’s like a real life ‘Decker’, except he doesn’t even have the versatility to squint every once in a while! In spite of how dreadful he is however, he’s able to drag this absolutely deranged flick to its destination like an overflowing rucksack of toys. Seagal Claus has come early! SS’s Gio struts around every set, destroying everything in his path, and it’s endlessly entertaining to watch. People,…

My favourite part of the Seagal journey is watching him get chubbier and still wear the tightest jeans possible, no surprise that he walks like he’s shit himself throughout. Seagal Ranked

75 Bone-breaking gritty mayhem. John Flynn properly utilizes Steven Seagal by making him a singular force of pain and brutality and shaping the film around his presence. All this movie needs to do is let Steven Seagal unleash his signature brand of violence, and it succeeds with flying colors. He hits a dude with a salami stick! He shoots a man’s leg clean off with a shotgun! And more! So many creative beatdowns. Shout out to William Forsythe, who is either smoking crack out in public or murdering innocent people and laughing about it. A drugged out villain performance that is a perfect counter to Seagal’s brute force.

an infuriating movie because it’s pretty good and fun as is (a lean 70s crime actioner with some sillier 90s elements thrown in) but there’s an alternate universe version of this that wasn’t produced by seagal who imposes His Thing onto it that would be a NY mob brotherhood version of Rolling Thunder. the better movie that forsythe clearly thinks he’s in which is why seagal chose to cut out most of his scenes. flynn’s direction is so blunt and nasty and kinda sad! what he and forsythe are doing here (flynn’s 70s sense of economical, textured filmmaking and sudden, vicious body mutilation and bill’s psychotic mania and hints of family melodrama pointing towards a larger history of a neighborhood…
