I enjoyed this film more than I thought I would. An interesting premise, strong performances throughout & I was completely captivated by Lockjaw’s walk anytime he was on screen. One Battle After Another explores extremely relevant political themes at an important time in history around corruption, fascism, racism, postpartum depression, extreme crackdowns on immigration and violent revolution – but it failed to actually comment on these themes and see them through. It felt more like these themes are being dangled in your face than addressed.

Watched with a friend and we took a shot of our French 75s every time they said French 75 and I have regrets. Still my favorite cocktail though. I stand by everything in my original review. Great movie. Stupid car chase sequence at the end. Letter bit could’ve been better and stronger written. Flesh out Avanti’s character more and make his motivations stronger, then give Willa a reason to shoot the Christmas adventurer or him a reason to be chasing her and it would be 5 stars.

But I stuck with it and it kept on getting better and better until I got what what all the fuss was about. Di Caprio gave another outstanding performance and Sean Penn was just crazy.
