If it weren’t for Will Ferrell, this would be one of the more venomously spiteful mainstream comedies ever churned out by an American studio (though Phillips’ subsuquent output has proven he only gets more hateful as he goes along). Full of “men behaving badly” nonsense that rewards these goons at every turn for their obnoxiousness, and casts every woman as a harpy or slut, the level of contempt this shows toward anyone who isn’t a straight, beer-swilling white dude on the hunt for some strange is kinda astounding. The rare case where you don’t want anyone in this Animal House to win or lose, hoping against hope that a strategic missile strike will somehow get spliced into the last act, nuking all these bros from orbit so that there’s at least a cosmic sense of justice. I hate this movie so much.

The real reason they never made an Old School sequel is because any sequel to this story would have to involve Mitch, Beanie, and Frank on trial for murder. In my opinion, these men committed a heinous crime, and they should be held accountable for their role in the tragic death of Joseph “Blue” Pulaski, preferably in a legacyquel called Old Law School about a washed-up prosecutor (maybe played by Harrison Ford?) who seeks redemption by securing three convictions in this case. In a touching epilogue, the prosecutor goes to visit Blue’s grave. As a single tear rolls down Harrison Ford’s weathered cheek, he places a blue rose on the headstone and growls “You’re my boy, Blue.”

true love is hard to find, sometimes you think you have true love and then you catch the early flight home from san diego and a couple of nude people jump out of your bathroom blindfolded like a goddamn magic show ready to double team your girlfriend

Will Ferrell running naked down a street is the part everyone remembers, and honestly, he’s the whole movie — Frank the Tank is one of the great comedy creations, a guy having a full nervous breakdown disguised as a party. Vaughn is Vaughn. Luke Wilson has the thankless job of being the normal one. The plot is nonsense and the third act just kind of gives up, but with that being said, it is still hysterical and endlessly quotable right up until the credits roll.

How to tell if the comedy you are watching is from the early 2000s: – Vince Vaughn is in it – A character sleeps with an underage girl (the movie always thinks it’s hilarious) – A trippy scene where the leads get drunk/high – The lead ends up with a cute blonde

“You tell anyone about this and I’ll fucking kill you. I’m kidding, I’m kidding, we’ll have him home by tonight. Okay, sweetie.” The story might go through every cliché and predictable comedy trope imaginable, but there’s an insane sense of fun to it, with Will Ferrell turning it up to 11 and Vince Vaughn usually getting the best of the dialogue. It tries to be the new Animal House, and it doesn’t quite get there. But, in my opinion, it’s far superior to The Hangover and one of the better comedies I’ve seen in a while.

For me this is a weird comedy. Watchable and not that gross. It only feels like there were a lot of ideas written for it and now nothing feels like the centre of this movie. Everytime you think you know what kind of story this will bring, it changes. So now instead of having seen a film, it feels like I have seen a lot of different scenes in a row, with the same actors.

Nothing better than prime Will Ferrell. Vince Vaughan gives a hilarious performance aswell. The other actors just couldn’t keep up.

there are some good laughs, mainly because of Will Ferrell, but it’s a bit overrated.

Yes, it is yet another crude college comedy but it is funny if you like this type of humor and the great cast boosts up the quality as well.

An overall pretty fun comedy that’s enjoyable for the most part. Had its moments where I laughed out loud, and other moments that were pretty lackluster, mostly with how unsatisfied I was with the ending. But Will Farrell steals the show and makes the film as enjoyable as it is.

This just a bs movie I watched when I was high, always awesome

friends dad put this on after a hardy night of drinkin and I still feel dizzy typing this, anyways…. standard goofy 2000s comedy kinda like “grandma’s boy” in a way, so ya I liked it

As a comedy movie this was so good I love Will Ferrell

A totally different experience watching this at 41 versus 18. The Will Farrell stuff is sadder for sure and no one looks even close to the age they’re supposed to be but the movie holds up way more than I thought it would. The dart scene still rules, I love that Vince Vaughn’s son always wears his soccer uniform, and I was smiling for most of the movie. Also, I found myself wondering if Speaker City got sold to Best Buy

Very representative of its time, some hilarious one liners and quotes. The heart of the movie felt formulaic at half hearted at best, but that’s not why I watched. Very solid comedy. All three of Ferrell, Wilson, and Vaughn turned in performances we expect and hope for.

Prime Luke Wilson

Old School is a hilarious, easy watch with a lot of classic early-2000s comedy moments. Will Ferrell absolutely steals the movie and delivers most of the biggest laughs. The story is ridiculous and definitely hasn’t aged perfectly, but that’s part of the charm. Not an all-time favorite, but a really fun comedy.
-
L
Hadn’t seen this in over 2 decades and rewatched because Will Ferrell and Luke Wilson are making the rounds lately and it’s being talked about again. I forgot how funny this was, and when you watch it as a sort of comedy take on Fight Club it kinda works. There are some memorably great Ferrell moments in this, but my favourite has to be the scene at the end where he suggests listening to a Sisqo CD to his wife. And in the same scene when she suggests a divorce he ends things by telling her to “keep on truckin.”

After watching both Grown Ups movies, I decided to watch what is basically the 2000s version of Grown Ups. The movie brings together a bunch of comedy legends and gives them a very simple plot with plenty of room to just be funny. Will Ferrell steals almost every scene he’s in, although I still think the dart scene is way too dumb. Vince Vaughn is pretty solid, while Luke Wilson is serviceable but definitely the weak link of the three.…

Haven’t seen it in a while and let me tell you how much this one holds up but it’s also one that resembles a lost time that this next generation of kids & teens are missing: broad 90 minute comedies made by major studios. It’s got three standout performances by the leads (breakthrough roles especially by Will Ferrell & Vince Vaughn). Will Ferrell has credited this one with launching his career in that were it not for this one there wouldn’t be…

JOHN LOCKE APPEARANCE!! Had fun with this one, I think the first act is very strong and funny, but Will Ferrell gets sidelined as the film goes on, and just isn’t as funny nor entertaining without him primarily being featured C+

Hilarious and rewatchable. Frank the Tank is all time. The first scene with the wedding singer made me laugh out loud. Funny that Ari and Ms Ari were both in this.

Отличная комедия , противоречивые персонажи , школьное братство , отсылки , бубсы все прекрасно, каст отличный даже массовка с интересными актерами ( на тот момент еще нет) , песня деда в конце ШЕДЕВР и на 57 минуте на фоне Down low 😋

I’ve been in sort of a loathsome headspace lately and went looking for something to match it and I thought what better than a 2000’s comedy/Lars Von Trier double feature. The von Trier we’ll leave unnamed but what I was expecting with OLD SCHOOL was a film that was even more spiritually corrupt. But lo and behold I was challenged when I found something of the spirit of life. I think perhaps 2003 was just when things started getting dramatically…

Off of watching Zoolander and some Mike Judge movies i thought this casting wouldn’t let me down. I hadn’t seen this movie before either unlike a lot of other comedies i’d seen lately. The second half of this movie is ok and has a few jokes that land fairly well but the first half of this movie is an absolute slog that hardly even got a smile out of me. Such a weak film for such a great cast.

Pretty alright, now much to complain about. I just needed something simple, light, and fun and this was it. Weill Ferrell’s Frank The Tank was easily the best part, Ferrell always puts in his all. It’s good enough, it’s kind of like Revenge of The Nerds if they were old.

Old school comedy about old(? they are in their 30s, for God’s sake) people living near a school. It doesn’t make sense; it’s weird; it would be socially and legally unacceptable now, but it is somewhat fun.

Three grown ass men decide to start a fraternity at their local college in an effort to add a little excitement in their lives. Parties and shenanigans follow. A hilarious college comedy from the early 00s. Doing the frat thing in college at the time when this released, I will always hold it in high regard. You’re my boy, Blue. MVP: Will Ferrell

Well-produced from top to bottom. Great costuming, set dressing, shooting, colors, sound. Expensive soundtrack. Host of famous faces and great character actors. Nice fat budget. All in service of a dogshit lazy script. Rips off Animal House and, bizarrely, Fight Club. In fact the creators of this assume that since you’ve probably seen those two films already, you won’t have an issue with the movie rushing through all of their recognizable plot points & sets, or meandering scenes that barely start…
