“GRACE!” “Grace? Grace passed away thirty years ago.” “No, they want you to say grace!” *shakes head, evident confusion* “Like the blessing!” “Oh…” *nods head and gets in prayer formation, everyone follows suit, soon each person at the table has fingers intertwined, heads bowed, ready for the aforementioned grace* *a few seconds pass* “I pledge allegiance…to the flag…”

An insightful critique exploring the plight of the shrinking middle class in post-Reagan suburban communities at the expense of encroaching globalization and billionaire brain poison. In many ways, a movie for our time. Good squirrel bit, too.

It’s entertaining I guess but Chevy Chase is insufferable and honestly it would be a way better movie if it wasn’t terrible

BEST CHRISTMAS MOVIE FIGHT ME
-
J
Rewatched the most in my life. Probably. Well during December. Love the soundtrack!
-
K
The most unrealistic part of this movie is when Audrey acts surprised that the grandparents are gonna be sleeping in her room, whenever every single mother would be making their child DEEP CLEAN their room in the off chance that company might even walk past their room.
-
M
Really washed up movie that unfortunately has too big of a hold on culture. I’m not sure why its called vacation, no one takes a vacation.

It’s the quintessential Christmas comedy. There are others I like better but it’s a classic.

Hey! If any of you are looking for any last-minute gift ideas for me, I have one. I’d like Frank Shirley, my boss, right here tonight. I want him brought from his happy holiday slumber over there on Melody Lane with all the other rich people, and I want him brought right here! With a big ribbon on his head! And I want to look him straight in the eye, and I want to tell him what a cheap, lying,…

Christmas Classic

K
‘i don’t know what to say, except it’s Christmas and we’re all in misery.’ 🎄🥛🐿️☃️🚓 this is a classic in my eyes in terms of christmas movies. the dysfunctional yet very relatable griswold family are so entertaining to watch. the aesthetics are so cozy of the 1980/90s era and love the traditional decorations. ellen’s final outfit with the blouse & green skirt is to die for. the hair!!! really gives me martha may energy. a must watch especially in december when you need a comedic, adult version of home alone! watched on apple tv

Had to say, one of the best Christmas movies of all time.
-
B
Quite boring and not enough “story” in my opinion. It was an assembly of “funny” moments, and only at the tail end it took some notes from It’s A Wonderful Life and had something of an ending you might see in a bad sitcom. Best bits: – Chevy Chase falling off ladder – Chevy Chase falling on living room floor – Chevy Chase falling from attic

Chevy Chase plays a really cool, caring, funny guy in these movies. Surely he’s like that in real life right? Right?

Ya serious, Clark? I’m writing that this IS, infact, one of the funniest films I have ever seen just to spite a peer. Laughable moments even when you know exactly when they’re coming.

It’s a fine movie to watch especially around the holidays. Many consider it a classic and I see why. It’s goofy and funny but has the holiday heart too. I don’t love it as much as some other holiday movies personally. My only other thing is Chevy Chase. Knowing how he typically treated people he works with makes it hard to fully enjoy films he’s in.

Okay so..full disclosure if my family indoctrinated me with anything it was to love this movie. The whole family quotes it. Year round. Im talking not just my parents. Aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, even the grandparents while they were still with us. Im convinced if I went up to my grandpa with dementia and said “where’s eddy he usually eats these famn things” he’d bring up cholesterol. Yes we all know Chevy chase is an absolute POS but this movie…

Clearly not the greatest movie of all time, or even in the conversation of the greatest christmas movie of all time, but it always brings a smile to my face. It is usually on my holiday rotation, and yes that also includes Die Hard (obviously). Last christmas I didnt go through my usual rotation so I watched it here in my summer vacation instead. A bit misplaced perhaps, but Clark still manages to fuck most things up, much to my…

Ohio Goes to the Movies connection: Beverly D’Angelo (Columbus) “Catherine says he’s holding out for a management position.” One of the great satires of the male mind under patriarchy. Chevy Chase gives an all time great comedy performance, I don’t know how he manages to be so convincing in losing his mind while also playing so over the top. Part of it is probably that so much of the asshole parts are him, but sometimes that means you get the details you otherwise wouldn’t see.

You look at Christmas Vacation, and let me tell you, it is a total classic, an absolute triumph. Chevy Chase—Clark Griswold, a tremendous guy, very determined—he wants the best for his family, nobody wants a great Christmas more than Clark. He puts up twenty-five thousand beautiful, sparkling lights, and frankly, from space, you can see it, it is a spectacular sight. The energy is through the roof. Then you have Uncle Eddie, a very unique character, very loyal, showing up in…

I watch this with my dad every Christmas so I’m biased in favor of it,but even without that it’s a very funny enjoyable movie. So many bits that randomly pop into my head. “Play ball!”
-
B
Where do you think you’re going? Nobody’s leaving. Nobody’s walking out on this fun, old-fashioned family Christmas. No, no. We’re all in this together. This is a full-blown, four-alarm holiday emergency here. We’re gonna press on, and we’re gonna have the hap, hap, happiest Christmas since Bing Crosby tap-danced with Danny fucking Kaye. And when Santa squeezes his fat white ass down that chimney tonight, he’s gonna find the jolliest bunch of assholes on this side of the nuthouse.

Growing up My Aunt would always want to watch Christmas Vacation every Christmas after dinner. I never quite watched it as I was younger, but being older now it’s become a classic that’s a must watch as soon as it’s November 1st Chevy Chase as Clark is a relatable character as he wants the perfect family Christmas. Something I feel most of us can relate to. The supporting cast of Uncle Eddie and the entire Griswold family just make this movie a Christmas classic!
-
C
Not funnt
-
T
The whole rant Clark goes on towards the end wasn’t acting, Chevy chase was told to act how he usually does around everyone
-
M
Sometimes you can love a movie literally just because it’s funny and you make it a staple to watch every single year, not because it has any deeper meaning or significance. Nothing more I can say but this movie is two things: 1) very funny 2) endlessly quotable
-
P
I’ve got a special connection to Chevy Chase
-
S
Another cheery Christmas gem Chevy Chase is too good
-
T
Chevy chase is honestly worse in real life than as Clark Griswald

J
My favourite Christmas film of all time. Watch it every year and it gets better every time. It’s so incredibly funny with so many iconic scenes. There’s not a boring part of the film. One of my favourite quotes is when Clark asks Eddie “Can I refill your eggnog… Drive you out to the middle of nowhere, leave you for dead?”
-
Z
Kindheitserinnerung und ich kann immer noch drüber lachen
-
E
I love this movie, it never gets old, Chevy Chase as Clark Grisdwald is just so crazy that he’s actually funny. When they get unexpected guest all hell break lose, litterly. Such a blast, and has alot of heart and soul. Enjoy the craziness.
-
A
One of my all time favorite Christmas movies. Hey Griswold. Where do you think you’re gonna put a tree that big?” – “Bend over and I’ll show you.” – “You know, you’ve got a lot of nerve talking to me like that Griswold.” – “I wasn’t talking to you.”
-
B
At least they got the bonus
-
E
Hilarious! Never gets old. Watched this with my mum every. Single. Year. Growing up.
-
J
The writing is actually genius, these jokes have remained funny for the last 20 years of watching. Find myself quoting it more than I would like to admit.

In the course of the three National Lampoon vacation movies, Clark Griswold has become an emblem for all that is sweetest and most ineffectual in the Hollywood husband. What he wishes for his family, most desperately, is that they have a good time. All he is able to deliver is chaos and hair-raising misadventures. His wife is at least loving and grateful, but his two children are thoroughly weary of his schemes and have lost all faith in his ability…
-
I
Christmas classic. Still funny.
-
J
most packed christmas movie ever
