What I learned from this movie: -Michael Jackson is a perfect, flawless human being who helps sick kids, donates to charity, loves animals, loves his fans, and hates violence. That’s it. Nothing else. Don’t look into it. -Michael’s brothers—the Jackson 5– are perfect, flawless human beings who are talented, who adore Michael, and who dislike domestic abuse. That’s it. Nothing else. Don’t look into it. Biopic slop to the highest degree. Edit: There’s going to be a sequel covering the second half of his life? If that is true, then that doesn’t excuse the obvious, eye-rolling scenes of Michael helping out kids nor does it justify the prioritization of fan service over a captivating story.

rly cool and great performances but I wish the whole structure of the movie was different. Since I first saw the trailer when it released it just felt like a “montage” of his life and that’s kinda what it is. That’s probably why it took me so long to see it, I just wished from something more creative and different I guess.

Michael Jackson calls a kid with cancer a doo doo head in this movie. Incomplete, empty, and inoffensive. It’s the basket of bread you get for free at the Italian restaurant with the olive oil and Parmesano Reggiano. Satisfying as you’re eating? Of course. A replacement for a meal? Of course not. Hell, the story of The Jacksons as kids could’ve been a whole movie of its own.
