The stupidest movie since Moonfall. Absolute brainless cinema. Jason Statham kicks a guy into the shark’s mouth and says “see ya later, chum.” Megsterpiece.

Look, I’m not made of stone. When Jason Statham gets into what amounts to a jousting match with a trio of Megs while riding a jet ski and brandishing explosive-tipped harpoons, I smile. When he dispatches an adversary with a shark-related pun, I chuckle. That’s what this whole movie should be! Instead, those brief moments of pleasure are buried at the bottom of an ocean of exposition, dumb plot twists, and incomprehensible underwater action scenes. Sorry chums. Full review at ScreenCrush.

a perfect movie about two hot (and unhinged) dads raising their cute daughter to continue the family business of fighting giant prehistoric sharks using only macgyver contraptions and fists.

loved how no camera angle or shot lasted more than two seconds and yet it was still so boring 🥰 loved how there was so much going on and yet i don’t remember a single thing 🥰 loved how hard boiled egg on jet ski freaking nailed that big ol shark 🥰 loved how they implied megaladong preggers at the end 🥰 loved how meg2 is officially short for megan fox 🥰 loved how they spend two minutes in the trench despite the whole movie name advertising more trench time 🥰🥴

I rated The Meg ⭐½… but there are movies that you just don’t get at first sight, and The Meg 2: The Trench is everything and beyond! 5⭐ well earned! Jason Statham in action movies is what Shakespeare was to theatre. His acting charisma, battling giant CGI sharks, is pure commedia dell’arte…Now waiting for the 3rd. 🥲

I enjoy my fair share of cinematic fast food but this is poison. A movie so poorly conceived and executed, its cheap thrills are incomprehensible. If this atrocity were my introduction to movies, I might think movies just aren’t for me.

statham kicking guys into the mouth of an 80 foot shark? yeah… that’s the good stuff bruther. all killer no filler here, starting with 3 Megs in the first 20 minutes and continually escalating the number of huge evil creatures until the very end. wheatley’s habitual mean-spiritedness and misanthropy shine through beautifully as well in the procession of unceremonious, abrupt, brutal death that runs through the movie. legit teared up when statham tells the young kristen schaal looking girl “we…

I was ready to write this one off with it’s slow start and plot that deals with illegal mining in the Marianas Trench and hardly any big shark action. But the second half though totally ridiculous had the underwater thrill with not only giant sharks but octopussies squids and some nasty little amphibious animals. Last half mostly takes place on Fun Island, they might want to change the name of that one since the flotilla of creatures chow down on the silly tourists.
