   A few minutes after my screening of Lightyear started, a mom and a young girl — I’d guess she was maybe 10 or 11 years old — arrived at the theater, and sat down right next to me.     Decided to watch it after seeing the impressive presence of buzz army in TY5. Top notch visuals- animation, detailing, lighting and color, all were perfect. But something that always connects with everyone in animated movies was missing here. The base, build up and supporting characters were all weak and after a point you stop caring about what’s going on in the movie.

    It’s just the every year Disney feelgood action slop. It’s not worth to be disliked. If you have low expectations it’s an ok time to waste 2 hours. There are better or deeper or more engaging movies, but I kinda didn’t want to deeply critically engage. So I kinda enjoyed it.

    I think it was pretty good. Not the original Toy Story trilogy kind but good enough. And I see they recreated the I am your father scene from Toy Story 2 when Buzz called Zurg his father. That was nice callback.

    While I definitely would rank it lower than any of the movies from its parents series, Lightyear (2022) in itself was a perfectly decent movie. It told a simple enough adventure, had some likable supporting characters and overall, I found it fine.

    não é ruim, mas é um potencial desperdiçado… uma pena, poderia ser MUITO bom. eu gostei de algumas partes, mas o filme começou a me perder um pouco quando entraram os três patetas. fora a escolha de mudar a origem do zurg, pra mim isso foi completamente inexplicável e sem sentido off: o sox é maneiro

    Strangely had a hard time with the opening sequence. I was struggling with the odd choice to recast Buzz and yet, Chris Evans kept doing a Tim Allen impression. So it makes it feel like an SNL sketch and takes you out of it. Plus, they kept making callbacks to Toy Story that were very self conscious and that also didn’t quite make sense.     So Lightyear looks awesome. Zurg is literally so menacing and badass looking. The space scenes are really similar to live action versions and the colouring is excellent. However, the intro to Toy Story 2 is more exciting than this whole movie. Pixar used to have compelling stories we haven’t seen before and we’ve seen this how many times? Zurg’s backstory is lame and Buzz is so one dimentional. Sox is definitely my favourite character and the rest are a little forgetable. I think they did a great job with capturing Buzz’s iconic lines, but not at the top of Pixar’s list.

    Lightyear is pretty straightforward, but honestly, that’s not necessarily a bad thing. It looks fantastic, the adventure is fun, and it’s an easy movie to just sit back and enjoy. I wish it had taken a few more chances, but I still had a good time with it.
